White is everywhere he looks. Snow falls in heavy flakes, shrouding the realm in a curtain of silence. It never mattered before how far he wandered, how lost he became, but now that Thor is shivering up against his side, Loki is desperate to find them shelter.

The fool just could not leave well enough alone, could not let Loki make any decisions that he did not approve of.  If Loki wanted to brave Jotunheim and face judgement at the hands of his brethren, then it is no concern of Thor’s.

He should leave Thor to suffer the consequences of his own actions. But for some unfathomable reason– he cannot bring himself to do it.    

Thor’s gone quiet, has been for several miles now, and for the first time he is not a too-hot presence at Loki’s side.  His footsteps falter. Thor stumbles to his knees into the snow and does not get up again.

“Come now, Thor,” Loki says, dropping beside him, tucking his fur lined cape around Thor’s trembling form.  "You would let a little inclement weather deter you, the mighty Thor, the bringer of thunder?“

Thor doesn’t say anything, and Loki realizes it is because he literally cannot speak against the tremors racking his body.  

Afraid his Jotun skin will burn what little warmth remains in Thor’s, Loki hovers as close as he dares, his lips lingering over the shell of Thor’s ear.  

"Get up, brother,” Loki whispers.  “You have to get up.”

Loki does not ask, will brook no arguments.  As rightful king of Jotunheim he commands this of Thor.

Thor waits a long moment, his breath ragged between chattering teeth.  Loki fears that his body is too far gone to comply, but that stubborn determination Loki has grown to hate is finally put to good use.  

Thor struggles to his feet, tottering but upright, and pushes his face into the fur at Loki’s neck.  

Loki curves an arm around Thor’s waist, steadying him, and leads them on.
