Am I happy Watcher rolled back their plan and apologized? Yes. Have I still lost any desire to watch their videos? Yes. Do I think people are being too harsh towards Steven, singling him out and such? Yes. Do I think Steven and Andrew bringing back worth it in the middle of a global cost of living crisis is extremely out of touch? Yes.

All of these things can coexist. Feelings towards the situation can be complex. It happens.

Just found out the Watcher lads are doing a live show in Glasgow next week… oh boy… after making their announcement?? Which, btw I am absolutely fucking devastated about… unemployed and chronically ill here with bills to pay and only a small handful of comfort shows to distract me from how shit my life is (lol) and now I gotta fork out for one of them? During a cost of living crisis?? I’ve been watching their content since I was 16… now I’m 24 and as much as I’d like to support them, I just can’t afford to pay to watch their content… I understand the need for change but this is too much to ask from your audience who are mostly skint young folk… Honestly, guys? Why’d you do it man?? 😭

But yeah, anyways, they’re really gonna have to prepare for the shitstorm they’re gonna face in Glasgow… they’re gonna get absolutely obliterated by that audience… completely ripped apart… wouldn’t surprise me if they have to camp out in the venue…they’re gonna get destroyed in so many ways they wouldn’t even think were possible… they’re no gonna know whats hit them 😭

Even though I’m kinda hacked off by this whole thing, I still support the ghoul boys with all my heart. They have brought me so much joy and comfort over the years, I would never want to hold a grudge against them. I’m just sad that this is what they felt the best decision would be for them, and that’s fine… but sadly it’s not the most accessible for, by the looks of how people have reacted, the majority of the fan base… just a very poor business decision altogether 🥲

While I generally do believe in the idea of separating a creator from their creation, I don't feel like you can really do that with Dan Schneider/Nickelodeon shows because of how interconnected the creators and the creations are.

The young cast of these shows went through so much abuse, mistreatment, and sexualization from people involved including the producer/writer himself.

There's a ton of sexualization and fetish content in the shows, sexualization and fetish content of children.

I don't hold any judgment for people who still find comfort from these shows, whether it be due to a hyperfixation or something else. But I do feel it's important to, at the very least, acknowledge how the shows were influenced by the creators being predators. And I would encourage everyone to try to boycott at least any shows that Dan Schneider worked on.
