@old-daemon-farts and I were watching Galavant last night and got to talking about form finding for him and Richard. We went through a few forms for each of them before deciding.

King Richard: Red albino conda Western Hognose. Female. Beautiful, royal colours, people think snakes mean cunning but actually these snakes are super overdramatic and play dead at any sign of danger.

Galavant: Red Kite. Female. Obviously had to match his hair colour. Regal without being royal.

I can't believe how long I've neglected this blog oml. *smacks hand* Bad daemian! Similarly I feel I've been neglecting Thom and Ani for a couple of months. There's been SO many changes. My partner moving in. Trying to figure out wtf is going on with my System. A couple of traumatic deaths. They've been through me, steadying and guiding and reassuring the WHOLE time and I feel them I've done them a disservice by not being more devoted to them.

Which, of course, they both say is silly.

Even so, I hope to be on here more regularly. After all, still have to finish the 100 Days of Daemonism!

Humans have extremely high endurance. This it to the point that, at our prime, we can outlast any animal (except a horse) in a race.

However, we can outlast a horse on a hot day, since we can sweat away most of that heat while horses can’t!

Reasons you should read His Dark Materials.

-It's a good mix between low and high fantasy. Yes, there are magical aspects but a lot of the "magic" is actually just science. The real magic is done by witches and they are the only ones who truly use magic.

-Every single character is morally grey there is not a single person shown to be pure and good and that's amazing. All the human characters are truly human and I love it.

-The non-human characters (In particular Serafina Pekkala and Iorek Byrnson) have an honest fear of being human as that would cause them to lose what makes them themselves. They have a fear but also a respect (but not excitement) of the change coming. Neither want to pick a side but when they do it is based on their connections to humans.

-The entire story is about love of all kinds. Yes, romantic love, but also familial love (both actual family and found family, there's a very nice plotline with Lee Scorseby literally seeing Lyra as the daughter he never had) as well as platonic love.

-It embraces the concept of multiple worlds so well

-Matter that loves matter is the best concept ever! I love Dust it's such an interesting concept, and the fact there are beings that are made of it with thoughts and feelings (I mean Balthamos has one of the most heartbreaking scenes to me and he's always been an angel)

-Just because something isn't human doesn't mean they aren't people, and it's shown twice both with the armoured bears and the Zalif.

-Everyone can get behind having an animal that is a literal part of your soul that comforts you and helps you and you both love each other unconditionally

I love the way they introduced Will’s side of the story early in His Dark Materials, though since his adventure doesn’t really begin until book 2, we end up getting the funniest cuts. Lyra’s riding into battle on the back of a giant talking polar bear, there’s witches flying around stabbing dudes and huge airships dropping missiles and then we cut to Will and he’s just like. Riding the bus.
