In Super Mario 64 DS, a detail about the animations of the playable characters that is very difficult to notice unless directly comparing them is that their sleeping animations (visible when they have been left idle for an extended time) have been specifically coordinated to make each of them sleep on a different side of his body.

Mario always sleeps on his right side, Luigi on his left side, Wario on his back and Yoshi on his stomach.
