it's interesting???? or idk? intriguing??? how we can associate a specific adjective or word with a particular social class. take the term 'maasim,' for example; it is rarely or almost never used to describe someone who is rich, unless may b.o. talaga. but more often than not, that term is automatically associated with the impoverished people or those who don't fit in with the standards when it comes to appearance. whenever the word is brought up, i'll instantly think of the negative connotation that comes with it.

naalala ko tuloy yung movie na parasite since it employed symbolism similar to that, particularly the distinct 'smell' ng mga kims daw, which the parks notice whenever they are in close contact with the kims.

on the other hand, the phrase 'amoy baby powder' is used to describe the contrary to the first one—those who are affluent or fortunate enough to afford a specific lifestyle. napapansin ko rin 'to sa tiktok, there's this tendency to express disbelief in someone's wealth or class by critiquing kung ano itsura nila, such as saying, 'di ko gets bakit naniniwala kayo diyan, eh tignan mo yung buhok, ang frizzy.' it's shocking. kaya siguro there's this desire for us to look a certain way and conform to a particular social class eh because we do not want to be perceived negatively or associated with anything deemed embarrassing or unacceptable.
