A little sneak peak of the finished Mizutsune carving dagger. From concept art to the finished product. The dagger is made mostly of EVA foam with a worbla core to add some stability. Foam clay was used to create the "bone" detail. The hilt is wrapped with a burgundy cotton and I used a chunk of Amethyst for the pommel. The sheath is EVA foam with googly eyes as the grommets. All of the rope was braided and placed on the sheath with a few strategic dots of hot glue. Some more photos of the Mizutsune Hakamas.

The pattern for them is McCall's M7525. These are by far the most comfortable pants for a cosplay I have ever made. I went with a poly-cotton blend because it has a nice weight that allows for lots of movement while walking but also holds a sharp pleat.

I distressed the bottoms of the Hakamas and airbrushed a subtle ombre on them as well.

The Tortoise and Crane emblem was hand drawn and cut out of an ivory colored pleather and top stitched onto the pants.

Well the bulk of the pants are all made from the same material I used satin to create the "triangles" on the back waistband to give a little bit of contrast/dimension to the piece.
