Fandom for the East
Everyone getting involved with fandom wars about whether big time rush or one direction is better or like. I don’t know marvel or DC comics, ok loooook, im not saying they’re wasting their time. I’m just pointing out that there are better things to argue about. Instead of talking about your underrepresented blorbo or poor little meow meow boy check in on global politics. As an Indian student studying abroad in America, I can’t believe how much the US is centered in conversations and just implied to be the best and brightest of the whole world. It’s not just the US its the entirety of the western world and white people. They are seen as this sort of superior race with, no (no!) basis for this claim. The whole world culture of the previous five thousand years is assumed to be but as an insignificant preamble to the grand domination of the non-whites by the whites during the last few generations. If you actually take the time to critically evaluate the course of human history it is incredibly difficult to ignore the power and eminence of Asia.  I’m going to break it down for you guys about how Asia is continually discredited and not taken serious and why that is so totally and inexcusably wrong.
→ The West is seen as a more powerful force of expansion and militarism
Oh boy don’t get me started on this one because this is definitely a special interest of mine. Whatever the schools of the US have been teaching you, all Asians know their military strength is unparalleled. In fact in the 7th and 8th century A. D the Moslem Saracens conquered territory as far as Spain and France. One needs to look no further than the size of the european realm, which was made even smaller by forces of power and militarism from the Turks and Asia in the 14000s.
→ The logic of why the West is superior is faulty and includes small time scales and incorrect comparisons
The timing scale doesn’t make sense, you focus on this one period of time in recent history where they happen to be doing well as a society and assume it discounts thousands of years of strength and power in the east. And because this one period of time is seen as successful, the whole world- culture of the previous five thousand years is assumed to be but as an insignificant preamble to the grand domina- tion of the non-whites by the whites during the last few generations. Your empires are new and weak.  You’re also like, taking the superstitions of the old wives in Asia and comparing them to the rational findings of the smartest of men in academia. Asia is a massive region and collection of cultures and practices, and the only elements of it that ever seem to come up, are the ones that paint the West in a superior light.  I’m gonna be honest I don’t know exactly who I’m talking about with ‘you’ but I’ve seen a lot of posts on here that don’t talk about anything but the dominance of the West and do so in an entirely faulty and illogical manner.

This comment explains Marx’s position about capitalism as it relates to the working class, using the analogy of a public discussion post where students compete with eachother to write more and more for a grade, which is a meaningless arbitrary trade for the amount of work done. Marx establishes that the system of capitalism becomes more exploitative the longer it is participated in. The teacher/student relationship is not a perfect fit for the “haves” and “have not category” because most teachers are SIGNIFICANTLY more concerned with the wellbeing than aristocrats. Although it does underscore Marx’s understanding of the universality of authority driven structures in society. One of the major holes in Marx’s arguments which has been criticized is his blindness to race as a system of oppression. While advocating for a class revolution, he does not acknowledge the role white supremacy plays in enacting control over POC and making revolutionary action more challenging. W.E.B Du Bois integrates an understanding of capitalism with the nuances of race theory.
Sociology Group Post Rant
The people in my sociology class are really starting to get on my nerves. We all have to submit these discussion posts for a grade and like. Every single person writes literal essays about whatever it is they’re interested in. and each time! The essays !! get longer!!! Because nobody wants to be the person who is writing less than everyone else and so we all keep writing these huge essays just to get homework points. And I can TELL people aren’t writing it for the joy or learning of it anymore. How could you have 600 words of worthwhile things to say on a single paragraph? I think If we all collectively decided to write less or stop writing them entirely, the teacher would not be able to fail us all. I sent an email on this subject, subject line, the communist manifesto, to the whole class. It was very impassioned. It talked about how since the beginning of school the natural order of things is the single teacher who has all the power and 30-100 students who all do their bidding for imaginary grades that don’t mean anything. Or if they do mean something they’re an incredibly small fraction of significance of what has been produced by the students.

!! Vent post !! CW: white supremacy, imperialism, slavery, caps
Something has been making me really angry recently. Literally no one ever appreciates Africa and the contributions African society has made to the global community. I’m learning in my Africana Studies class about pre-colonial Africa and the riches of the Africa. Did you know that Mansa Musa was one of the richest person in the world.  African is the birthplace of christianity. She is the cradle of civilization But nobody wants to talk about it. Ever,. And you know why? Because once the west starts to look at the power of Africa pre-colonialism, they have to look their dirty face in the mirror and reckon with the horrors they have committed. The callous and cruel nature of dividing up the great African Cake and opressing her peoples and draining her resources. People point to wonders and riches of Europe as some sort of indicator of its strength. The wealth of the individual, the academic advancements created by excess time and money for leisure, and they act as if this was all just achieved by the incredible inherent worthiness of the European society. Look again, ask yourself where that money came from, why they could achieve what they did. It was by enacting a global system of brutality and violence against the African people, forcing them into poverty as they became richer and more leisurely. Even as I type this I am boiling with rage. You don’t want to hear this! Nobody wants to hear this!! Becuase its not just the colonialism, it is the 100,000,000 million souls lost to slavery, and the destruction that resulted in communities where their brothers and mothers were abducted. Can you imagine? To have both international atrocities committed against an entire continent in such quick succession, at times overlapping!!,and everyone turns around and acts as if the people and communities who survived are less civilized or fit to be a part of global society because they don’t have time to do astrophysics while their homes are being raided and lives are being destroyed. Hereafter, Africa for centuries was to appear before the world, not as the land of gold and ivory, of Mansa Musa and Meroe, but as a bound and captive slave, dumb and degraded. Africa is powerful. Africa is motherland. And anyone who doesn’t appreciate that can get the **** off my blog.

Introductory Post
Hi everyone and welcome to the Sociology Symposium. This little thing is going to be a combination of media forms and writings all dedicated to exploring the way that capitalism and colonialism interact to create systems of domination and oppression in the modern world and in recent history. We will specifically be focusing on three majorly important classical theorists who wrote during the 18th and 19th century.  I’ve brought them into the world of tumblr as college students because I want all of you to suffer.
Without further ado!!
Tumblr media
KarlMarx  @karlmarxofficialreal (he/him)
Sociology + Econ Double major
The history of hitherto society is the history of class struggle! I am interested in how throughout history power has been concentrated in the hands of the few wealthy elite. The current economic system of capitalism and its predecessors are systems of exploitation. #eattherich

NOTES ON TAGGING
There are two types of tags on tumblr, the first is hashtags used to sort information. On this page you can search by tags to see only posts with a certain tag.  If you click on a certain tag, you can also see other posts with this tag.
The following tags will be used to link content
#anti-imperialism
#anti-capitalism
#anti-white supremacy
The following tags will be used to denote the type of post
#longpost
#discussionpost
#quotepost
The second type of tagging is commentary tags. Commentary tagging shows up along with a post but is removed with every reblog. Think of it like a type of museum walltext that is personal to every person. I will be reblogging from the other accounts and putting commentary in the tags so watch out for that! :)
