It truly makes me wonder if E/riels really read ACOSF when they say things like this:

Because if they truly read the book.... they'd know this happens after the bonus scene takes place:

Two scenes in which his shadows have a reaction when Gwyn is around or mentioned in ACOSF. One during training, one when Gwyn is in the Blood Rite. And there is no singing involved.

Oh, and in the bonus scene.. there is more than just that one mention of the shadows dancing with Gwyn breathe.

There is this before they even dance for her breathe:

And this happens when something restless settles in him during his scene with Gwyn:

And this is as Azriel is leaving his interaction with Gwyn:

Again, no *actual* singing involved. Azriel can hear & see things others cannot so when he's leaving he's not actually hearing Gwyn sing. He's hearing faint, beautiful singing that follows him that his shadows sing back to, which can only be concluded as foreshadowing of a mate bond between them since Nessian bond snaps into place that same night and is described as music between their souls. If Gwyn was the one singing, that would have been made clear.

my whole thing with that scene is that Gwyn obviously trusted Nesta enough and found some solace in her to venture outside after being in the library for years. That’s not a small feat for the priestesses and for him to still think Nesta has malicious intent drives me so mad. Him & Amren (despite being old as fuck) never gave Nesta grace during her healing journey, they couldn’t believe she was getting better and it makes me so ?????

exactly, the whole “High Lady” title is such a fabricated, manipulative lie when you actually look at it beyond the surface. Not only did he convince Feyre to be upset over something she truly wasn’t, it was also used as leverage to paint Tamlin out to be some sexist, horrible person. When in reality, the title isn’t just given out. That’s, like, the whole point of it LMAO. They’re not equals in any way, shape or form. She’s more of a High Lord’s consort than anything.

Why SJM didn’t let the land or Mother or whomever choose Feyre to be High Lady, I’ll never know. That would’ve been such a big girl boss move but instead, we got a man (derogatory) giving Feyre this title.

honestly the debate about whether feyre was qualified or not to be high lady wouldn't be such a big deal if the story stopped trying to frame her as the best at everything. it's ok if the only reason she is initially made high lady was to make her rhys' equal in the sense that he does not hold more power over her, and technically, legally, cannot command her, or force her to do anything. she's his mate, so he feels comfortable doing that very early on into the relationship. it's a statement of his love and trust of her, or rather, his respect of her as her own person. but as @ofbreathandflame elaborates on here, it doesn't actually say anything about feyre herself, and to claim that she has done something to earn being high lady causes problems and conflict, because, well, she didn't. she didn't earn the title at all. there are qualities she possesses that may give her the potential to be a good leader, but she is not there already.

and then of course there's the problem that even if the story focused on rhys 'making feyre his equal', there's still confusion, because she fundamentally is not his equal. and it's never elaborated on because sjm can't without highlighting the contradictory nature of it all, but rhys did not arbitrarily become high lord because he earned the support and was sworn in. it's not clear when a high lord begins his reign officially, but it's implied that it starts when the magic 'chooses' them. the magic chose rhys, not feyre, and that fact will always mean that he holds some level of power over her. and that's a whole other topic with no real solution, but i don't think it would be as much as a problem if the story didn't try so hard to insist that that dynamic did not exist at all.

and to be clear im not trying to criticise or shit on feyre, this is more in defense of her than anything. girl deserves better than being lied to.

Idk I just feel like SJM could have done so much with neris (romantically & platonically) and she dropped the ball so hard. Maybe she’ll do something with it in the future but 🤷‍♀️

Thinking about how much better cassian and eris’s conversation at the end of acosf would’ve been if it was nesta instead of cassian’s dumb ass.Cassian literally had to have it spelled out for him that eris is wearing a mask and might actually be a good male and even then he still missed the mark completely and called him a coward.I think nesta would’ve been a lot more understanding especially when she realized her and eris might not be so different after all.It could have been a defining moment to show nesta’s growth and the whole scene just would’ve been a lot more captivating if it was nesta involved 🤷.

This goes hand in hand with how I’ll literally never get over SJM fumbling so hard when it came to nesta and eris and I’m not just talking in the romantic sense.I’m talking nesta playing courtier with eris and being the only who can deal with him because he only seems to like her.Nesta seeing past eris’s cunning mask and cruelty and him seeing past her tough exterior and harsh words.Them slowly developing a silent sort of understanding of each other and eventually becoming allies.Maybe sharing a kiss here and there because they’re both hot and single and they want to.Their relationship genuinely had so much potential and their chemistry was off the charts.I’ll forever be in mourning.
