in season 2, before one of lena’s galas that she knows will be a gang target, supergirl asks her “you like to take risks. when corbin was after you, and now this. why?”
lena’s reckless. we all know that. and on some level, she must believe she’s indestructible or that because she always makes it out alive, she’ll make it out again. plus it’s for a good cause, it always is.
so she tells supergirl that you can’t spend your life living in fear, expecting her to understand.
looking at lena’s character, it isn’t shocking that she would have passive suicidality. but rewatching the show, it’s surprising how brazen she is with it- how she expects everyone around her to see things the same way (because at a certain point, nobody around her would’ve cared if she lived or died)
in season 1, kara is seen punching walls and destroying cars in the DEO. she burns a hologram of her mother down with her heat vision, she snaps at cat grant, and actually expresses her pent up rage
lena, on the other hand, is so calm and collected. she seems as well adjusted as anyone could be in her shoes.
except she keeps facing off with death in a way that no healthy person would ever do. lena may not want to die, but she is not someone who wants to keep living
No, but really, I think Martha deserves to have a good team and go on scooby doo-esque adventures. I'm just a sucker for the found family trope, sorry.
So here is the team : Doctor Martha Jones, Tallulah, Hath Peck, and Captain Jack Harkness! Maybe others will join? Who knows?
