HAPPY PROTOCOL THURSDAY EVERYONE
[ID: A Magnus Protocol comic. Sam, head in his hands, says sadly, "Oh Chester, I'm just feeling real low." The computer, which displays a single staring eye, says, "I can send emails." There's a ping implying Sam’s received an email notification as Sam takes this in, and then he turns and says, "Oh shit, for real?" End ID] ID courtesy of @princess-of-purple-prose with small edits from me; thank you!!

Today on my Pathfinder 2E game, we (a Kineticist, Witch, Alchemist, and Summoner) faced low severity encounter.
So, of course, we girlbossed and were 2 hp away from a TPK.

Have you been watching Pantheon?
It's the best sci-fi show on TV right now. There is no other show like it! It's Satoshi Kon mixed with Black Mirror.
All the episodes are out on AMC+. Go sign up for a free trial and watch all 8 episodes. You will not be disappointed I promise.

there are a lot of things I like about Pantheon (so far, I'm in season 1).
of course, when scifi 's done right, the best parts are the questions that worm your way into your heart and head..
you've got the obvious ones, the "What does it truly mean to be human?", the "Can we be human without any body?", the "What does that make us, then?"
the generic scifi questions, the "Who has access to this technology, and is it right?" the "Should we stop progress? Can we even do it??" and the "What if a malicious actor had access to it first?"
But what I'm thinking about most, what feels most relevant right now, is the automation aspect. You see houses that run on Internet Of Things, you see Alexas in homes, you see computers that can manipulate the physical world, you see drone strikes controlled wirelessly.
And for almost every one of these, you see how a program trained well enough (in this case, trained on a brilliant engineer) with enough processing power (state of the art even), can break it. no object is impenetrable, and in fact, many have known exploits that aren't updated and patched over enough.
The question I'm seeing, that they haven't talked explicitly about, is "Is it safe for us to automate dangerous things?" and, as a computer programmer, HELL NO

remarked to my friends how much this scene in s2e5 reminded me of the "please drive safely" "how about we stop talking for a little while" scene from mob psycho 100 and then realized i could make THE funniest edit
