if i scheduled this post correctly, it'll come out at exactly the same time side order does. i probably won't have posted for a while before this, and i don't plan on using tumblr for a while until i complete the story. i just wanna wish everyone good luck, i hope all of you have fun, and i hope side order is just as good as we all hoped it would be.

i know i called this theory really weird before, but i'm finding myself going back to it. i know it's really outlandish, and i have to admit im still not sure how it would even work, but i think acht and eight might be wither the same person or just extremely connected, and part of the teaser at the end of the fresh season trailer is why i'm making a post about this again.

so as most of us know by now, acht means eight in german (and dutch too, i think). this doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it is interesting to think about. and if it was just this, it wouldnt really stand out to me that much. but at the end of the fresh season trailer there was a short side order teaser, where this happens (i'm slowing this down a lot to make it easier to see)

so it goes from a scene of eight to acht really quickly, and for a second before it switches to acht you can see that eight is green. at some point in the glitching you can see that acht's hand is skin-colored instead of green. these two things had to have been done purposefully, i think, because inverting the colors doesn't result in that. and i know it's just a glitching effect but it seems odd to me that they would transition it like that. even if they aren't actually the same person or anything, they're probably deeply connected

so. i was on youtube and saw in one of the side order shorts that this popped up for a second

i wonder what this is?

it reminds me a lot of the music upgrades in the story mode of splatoon 3, so could this possibly be related to the music in side order?

in the fresh season trailer, there's this scene with dedf1sh:

i have a few different ideas about what this could be:

1. dedf1sh makes the music for the dlc, and maybe we even get the songs that are 'missing' (since, yk, dedf1sh has their songs numbered but some numbers in between others are missing) and the disc pieces unlock more songs

2. they bring back squidbeatz (is it spelled that way?) and the disc pieces unlock more songs for you to play

3. the disc pieces unlock more of the story

also, i think it's interesting that the disc comes in pieces. i wonder if there's multiple discs or just one. i've heard that the tower has 30 levels, so maybe there's three discs and you find pieces of one in each ten? idk if that makes sense. but let's say theres disc a, b, and c. in levels 1-10 theres a chance to find all the parts of disc a in random levels, probably by killing enemies

EDIT: so. MAYBE IT CHARGES UP A SPECIAL ATTACK??

because in the overview trailer, you see this on the sude of the screen which is clearly counting the disc pieces. why would you need to count it in a level if it only affected the music? and then i remembered that weird color chip that said "sound-wave damage". maybe they're related and its a special attack that does a lot of damage? (another edit: this is probably wrong actually, the color chip is apparently more about killer wail and the pearl drone. i really dont know what else the disc could be)

maybe acht helps you fight if you collect all three pieces??

i heard that in certain timezones side order actually comes out on the 21st!! EST is one of them i think... iirc it releases at 8:00 pm just like the usual time when the day changes ingame! thats why in my last post i said '8(7?) days left' instead of just 8 btw

happy valentines day! also this is one of the agent 8s from the trailer. tbh both this one and the one with blue hair are sooo cute to me idk why. i think its the way their hair changes colors. if splatoon sold things other than amiibos they would make SO much money selling toys of the variations of the agents i think (i know they made plushies for the idols but. i dont think theres any for the agents)

big fan of how the tentacles + fingers look as you progress (i'm assuming you gain more color as you play - i'll make a post talking about this later)

i think i've managed to gather some of my thoughts on the newest trailer, and while i'm still. so confused i feel like making a post about what i think so far.

(this is kinda long so i'm just gonna put a read more thingy here)

for a while now, i was considering the thought that maybe the pearl drone wasn't ACTUALLY pearl, but i didn't fully believe it would be a possibility until the newest trailer. if you haven't seen it yet, the new trailer starts out with the opening cutscene of splatoon 3, where (new) agent 3 is in the train, but in this trailer they fall asleep. then it cuts to who i assume is the pearl drone waking 'agent 8' up while the bleached inkopolis square materializes out of code. while this could just be an artistic choice, i don't see why they couldn't have just opened with agent 8 on the train instead of agent 3. so my theory is that maybe none of the characters in the dlc, except for 'agent 8', are actually real characters and are instead ai or something. and i knoww a lot of people hate the idea of the dlc not being in the actual inkopolis square, myself included, but honestly it kind of makes sense here.

i think that this goes back to that one interview (the one with marina, marie, and big man) where marina says odd things about 'a world of order' and she talks about how pearl left her for a while to find new band members (which iirc, was her reason for being on team order back in the final fest, and what i think is one of her biggest fears). maybe when pearl left her, in a state of panic or loneliness or something she decided to code a world that she could go into to be with 'pearl', and she also included people she used to know, explaining why dedf1sh is there. maybe that weird thing in the poster with the huge eyes is some sort of robot meant to take care of the place. also, marina has created things like this before (shifty stations), maybe this is just like that but on a way larger scale. at one point, maybe the world got corrupted and that's what all the skeleton fish and the shadow.. inklings? are. why one of them looks like agent 4 is beyond me. also, i think the 'agent 8' we play as is actually (new) agent 3, and they only appear to be 8 because that's someone marina knows. maybe that has something to do with that one image that was driving me crazy, the one with the inkling that had octoling hair

or i could be completely wrong about all of this but.... i'm mostly writing this for fun so whatever. also sorry if this makes no sense i'm kinda bad at writing i think

thinking back on this post it makes me giggle because it was sort of prophetic in a way? because i was kind of right but in the weirdest way possible. i still remember the dream, and it involved weird grappling hook/zipline things and you had to grab onto the tooth girl while going on them/use her to traverse them. so a few weeks after this dream the second side order trailer released and.

she does kind of look like a tooth if you look at her really fast. and you do kind of use her as a grappling hook. i don't think you're supposed to protect her though

this is like. my THIRD side order dream. and all i remember was that the second it came out i went on tumblr to make a post saying "hey guys i'm not gonna use tumblr for the next few days until i finish playing the dlc" and then i started playing it and you had to... protect a tooth creature??? it was this tooth shaped girl?? like she was literally just a tooth?? and you had to make sure she didn't like. fall or die??

idk if this is anything but i was playing around with trying to sync up the three trailers to compare them (the only one playing audio is the newest one btw) and uhhh. please tell me i'm not the only one who feels like the audio syncs up a bit too well with the second trailer. specifically starting at the part where pearl shows up

(sorry in advance for how long it takes to get to the thing im talking about, i just wanted to show that i didn't edit the clips to make them sync up, they're just. like that??? also i wonder who the actual voice at the end is because it doesn't sound like pearl)

now that the release date for side order has come out, i wanna say that i feel like it's pretty obvious that i'll end up repurposing this blog. for the next month until it releases, i still plan on posting theories (both mine and ones people send in the inbox!) but once the dlc comes out, there probably won't be much to theorize about. so my plan for when it comes out is for this blog to stay being about side order, but to shift to me posting about the dlc as i'm playing it (i will tag it as spoilers to avoid accidentally spoiling it for others), and to just generally post and reblog things like fanart and discussions related to it.

ur literally so right. at first i was kinda thinking that maybe it was just some random inkling and then i realized that they literally have the hair. dude im actually so excited !!!!! people have been hoping agent 4 would be in the dlc and this feels like actual proof!!!!
