The Astraeus hygometricus, also known as the Barometer Earthstar, it thrives in sandy or lateritic soil in dry lowland dipterocarp forests where it fruits during may-august thanks to the rain, however it has a world wide distribution as it had been found in North America, Argentina Mexico, Europe and Australia.
This species is easily recognizable because it’s protective layer splits, forming a star-like pattern at.The rays wrap around the spore puffball until rain or high humidity causes them to swell and fold downward, lifting the puffball off the ground and making it easier for the spores to disperse through the air

The devils fingers : Clathrus Archeri
This mushroom is described to look like something that would definitely be mistaken for someone’s recent nightmare, when fully grown it has the appearance of long fingers or tentacles that are emerging from a white egg, it has also been nicknamed the octopus stinkhorn or the helicopter stinkhorn.
It reached Europe around 1914 from New Zealand or Australia around the First World War, it is believed that it was transported inside war supplies or wool, it was also seen again in 1982 but this time in California instead.
This mushroom grows on material such as wood and it feasts on decaying organic matter.
When it’s young it is simply inside it’s white egg that, though it looks disconnected, is actually connected firmly to its ground through mycelium, the sack has a jelly-like texture and early in its development you’d be able to see the small mushroom inside, in the early stages of development the tentacles are joined together before separating into a star like formation, it produces a black/brown coloured slime that smells like rotting meat, this attracts insects like flies who eat the slime and then go on to “pollinate” the mushroom if you will

The ink cap mushroom
This mushroom often grows in lawns, along gravel roads or waste areas, it sprouts from the ground looking like a small white cylinder before growing into its recognisable bell shape.
It’s cap has scales and is white like it’s gills before it begins to produce its spores, when it does, the gills transition from white to pink to black and the cap begins to open and melt into a black liquid that contains the spores. This process is process is accelerated when it it’s picked, dissolving in a few hours if not kept under the perfect conditions.
It is only considered edible when young and only if they are eaten soon after being picked.
