Best band ever to play this shite world gone mad circa now. Lashing out at everything you took for granted, cluttering your clichéd opinions and ideas.
Includes dazzling artwork by Mac Blackout.

Of lame French crowds and shows.
One might not be keen on hardcore punk or the U.S. at that but you can’t take the energy out of the shows over there. From a Parisian point of view, the only gigs I get to go to are often watered down with lame crowds. I won’t be expecting extreme and overviolent pits at a Sonny Vincent gig but the quality of both music and audiences have seriously gone down the drain here. One might say, your scene is what you make of it and I haven’t travelled in the U.S. in over two years time. That said, people here are often offended by a slightly out of hand behaviour or dancing.
youtube
Arrest my case. As implied above two of my friends and I went about two weeks ago to a Sonny Vincent concert in Paris. I had already seen him live on two occasions and both shows were fun-filled and Sonny showed great showmanship. Numbers were pure 77’ punk, band members off Bad Sports and Foster Care alike brilliantly proved up the the task. Two weeks ago, the pseudo-rockabilly crowd started playing the dont-push-me-about card. Also, the soundcheck made me spew and the guitarist slipped in some two odd shred-inspired solos. Ew.
One needs to confront the times but one also needs to get off at a gig BUT not the way one would do so when binge-watching one’s life away on youtube like an idling knob. Why is that so ? Here’s a mere reason to ponder on. Over here, concert-goers and punk connoisseurs are often rich types or people yearning for that very status - and they do behave accordingly. Meaning, no shoving neither drunk dancing and so on. I could get it should I be attending a jazz show, but a punk show granted it’s not a hardcore one... for fucksake. Don’t let punk down in a rut. On that note, praise be to the Dirty Fences whom I’ve seen a week ago and kind of evened things out.
youtube
This might sound to yous like a typical late-night rant from a currently bored lad disillusioned with music and it is. Though, I’ve still got faith in punk though there’s a serious lack of enthusiasm and an equally abundant pedanticness.

So I hear these guys were plain dumb arseholes but they’ve got good tunes and shitty stage antics. That makes them an ok band to me.

Synth-punk band based out of Liege, Belgium made up of members from Belgium proper and Germany singing anthems about the world going down the drain. Sounds a lot like The Screamers et al. Brilliant live act, saw them just a week ago in Montreuil, best gig I’ve been to in ages.

Housewives - Fuck You Or Fuck Yeah
Tumblr media
Yet another Aussie band I knew bugger all about two days ago. Actually discovered them through The Ausmuteants. I often find myself bopping to Aussie punk as there's a long history of cool grooves down under. But these lads instantly skyrocketed to the top of my list of cool acts.
I lived in Sydney for a while three years ago and I must say The Housewives perfectly match the dismal, sleaze and greasy atmosphere this city offers to a foreigner. I remember jumping off the plane to suffocating temperatures only to end up walking randomly amongst crackheads and prostitutes desperately trying to find a decent spot to sleep. Sweaty, dirty, greasy and genuinely unfriendly, this place left a special mark on me.
The Housewives put out a 7'' on R.I.P. records and they're arguably Australia's best band today. Their gnarly and thick lyrics as well as their sloppy punk sound had me pogoing the day away. Ugly and mean this rigs a lot of bells as to why I disliked Sydney so much, no wonder I was pissed off all the way down there.

Vatican Dagger - Not To Be 7''
Cringeworthy good sounds from the sewers performed by this New Orleans band featuring former members from the Necro Hippies. Some say if you're into that slimy Lumpy And The Dumpers sorta punk, this is right up your alley. I find it slightly refined and less hardcore than that of Lumpy and The Dumpers  The 7'' starts off brilliantly with a groovy and unexpected tune entitled Not To Be slowly building up only to end up on a fireworks display of a state of the art punk song named The Mess, nicely speeding up the pace to put a end to your sufferings. Snot, hate, speed this number's got it all.
This clearly is another gem put out by by Total Punk Records, a label seemingly able to sniff out every band worth slaying someone to.
My opinion is the following: fucking great and go get it.

Périphérique Est is a Belgian punk band hailing from Brussels. They sing in French and plays a speed-driven rock'n'roll that rings a lot of bells : Little Bob Story, Calcinator or more recently The Tv Killers and The Pneumonias. All songs are written and sung in French which might have many of you baffled as to the understanding of the lyrics. You shouldn't have bunked off school then, non excuses.
And now I'm off to shove a busted glass bottle down my throat in order to sing along their songs.
Close-up Records put out their latest EP, this one's old as fuck yet still worth a listen.

This Month's favorite !
Brilliant UK 82-sounding EP by these New Yorkers punkos featuring former members from Funeral Dress. Is it punk the way it was meant to be ? As far as I'm concerned, it simply is. Just give these eerie guitar sounds a listen, you'll figure out the rest on your own.
I assume this mind-blowing shit is still available on Nightrider Records.
Equally brilliant artwork by Alexander Heir.

I didn't scroll through all of the comments to see if anyone else had answered it, but your "Punk Generation" post (95023956255) is part of a 4 page piece from the Sept 1978 issue of National Lampoon (the "Style Issue").
Aye, someone did replied to my question. But the bloke said the said issue was from sept 79 not 78. I need to check but I sense you might be correct. Thanks for the help though.

"1-2-3" - The Professionals (1980)
The Professionals were Steve Jones and Paul Cook's unfortunate and underrated attempt to prolong the Sex Pistols' vibe after their breakup.
This catchy punk rock tune with the anthemic chorus was their second single in 1980 in the familiar Sex-Pistolesque guitar-driven sound of Steve Jones, who also did the singing (not badly, if you ask me…).
"…I know I got a dirty face, I know I’m looking out of place, I know I got mess on my shoes, What am I supposed to do?…”

The Viletones - Auschwitz Jerk EP
Tumblr media
This gem of demos by the Canadian-based punk band from 77'' I found randomly as pretty much the rest of my rare finds.
This as 77 as one could get. Once you get your pretty princess hands on these bad boys, you'll have them spin all the time. You've got my word. This extended play sums up the band pretty accurately. Sloppy punk played in the vein of Eddie Cochran on speed about to crack your petty little skull open and bathe in your mashed brain left behind.
The record features three rare and unreleased demos nearly all focusing on nazi shenanigans which, for all you loonies in the back, was/is commonplace in the world of punk. Other tracks are Heinrich Himmler and Wet Dream Girl.
One once said The Viletones were bad but when they were good they usually set the place on fire. This can't get truer than that, the band single-handedly proves it was the best ever to come out the then Vancouver area. It's easy to picture Nazi Dog's Iggy-style antics carving out his own skin on stage while riding a guitar in an obscene manner. It makes these tunes all the more listenworthy.
Let's do punk all over again for our world's sake and no one of you lot couldn't agree more.
