I‘m just watching the Beckham documentary and did English football fans in the 90s really have nothing better to do than harass Beckham like they did? Was there really nothing more important going on in their lives?

I get rooting for a team, maybe even a national team but it’s just a game? Nothing comes out of it? Either your team wins or it loses, and then what? Nothing! Nothing happens!

It just makes me so angry to see this. How little compassion did and do such people have? 'Oh, but people take encouragement and spirit out of their team winning.' Yeah, and that's not the player's fault? Maybe take a long hard look at yourself amd your life if your happiness hinges on a person who does not even know of you.
