There is nothing like this drink to cool you from the inside when nothing else does. I also find it a very sensory drink as it slows you down and revives you. This is aided by the exotic flavours. I have illustrated it in a vintage brass Lassi glass. In the tropical heat it is consumed in vast amounts and in very tall versions of these glasses. They are beautiful as well as unbreakable.
My classic Lassi is flavoured with rose water, which is known to be cooling and garnished with crushed pistachios and almonds. It is also a good pro-biotic if you use live yogurt.
INGREDIENTS
MAKES 4 GLASSES
2 CUPS OF THICK LIVE GREEK STYLE YOGURT
(VEGANS CAN USE APRO SOYA GO ON YOUGURT)
MILK 3 CUPS (OR PLANT MILK)
¼ of a cup to I CUP SUGAR (I LIKE TO USE XYLITOL TO REPLACE SUGAR AND TASTES JUST AS GOOD)
1 TEASPOON OF ROSEWATER
¼ CUP PISTACIOS/CHOPPED ALMONDS FOR GARNISH
METHORD
Sweet Lassi traditionally tastes best really sweet but you can modify it to suit your taste. Also its best with thick creamy milk to add to the yogurt.
Whisk the sugar and yogurt together with the rose water and cardamom powder. Add the milk till it is really frothy. You can also use a blender.
Pour into glasses and garnish with chopped pistachio and chopped almonds.
I love beach-combing for sea glass. I have a collection going back some years. Usually you find green but it's slightly more rare to find blue. There are many novel ways to use it and one of them is as decorative mulch.
Wild pond meadow. Dragonflies in slow motion. Amazing insects as they are happy in the air and on water. It's possible to spend endless hours drawing these creatures.
Glowing Chinese Lantern plants always fascinate me especially when they disintegrate and leave little cages through which you can see orange seed. I always wanted to draw them through the stages. Here’s some work in progress.
