Fashion designer!Hongjoong x assistant reader

What happened after listening to Ateez 'Diamond' on repeat

No stone could ever match the beauty in your heart that radiated throughout your exterior. Hongjoong was more than sure of it as he worked on the design for a special pendant for you.

Several nights had gone by that he had spent working on the piece. The design on paper failing to meet what he had wanted to portray through his work and his expectations were not met.

Late night sketching sessions went on for weeks. He was infuriated at times since there was something that he couldn't bring forth to put on paper.

There was something that he wanted to say that he couldn't find the words for. So much to say for so long but the words for the deep feelings eluded him. It was like an itch that he couldn't scratch and it drove him crazy.

His world, his diamond, his forever in his heart that he loved so dearly.

Finally one night it came to him and the following day he submitted a design to the jeweler that he contracted out to make the few jewelry pieces that he designed.

You were sitting in the designers lap again as usual. Sifting through his designs and giving out each other's points of views on his works as you rummaged through the mess of unorganized papers on his desk.

Hongjoong paused to admire you while you concentrated on his work. Instinctively reaching out to smooth down your hair and cajoling a sweet gasp from your lips.

"You always work so hard for me~ I can always count on you, the best assistant that I could ever ask for~" He purrs out in a soft, appreciative tone that made you tear your eyes away from his designs to look at him curiously.

You were taken aback when Hongjoong paused and brought out a small velvet box from his desk drawer.

"I have something for you, my darling~ A little reward that I hope will be special to you that you can keep close to your heart throughout your workday~" Hongjoong opened the lid of the box and smiled when your eyes widened.

A soft sound of delight escaping you to be filed away in his mind forever.

Your tiny fingers carefully picked up the pendant that rested against the soft velvet of the interior of the box. Slowly your fingertips traced the shiny hourglass shaped piece.

Admiring the glittering pavé diamonds that filled the body of the hourglass pendant as if it were sand.

You flushed red as you observed the gold curved infinity symbol that horizontally enveloped the glittering, delicate hourglass.

Hongjoong hummed softly as he thought about the meaning he felt from the piece that he designed. The full hourglass representing time and the infinity symbol showing his love for you forever in a beautifully radiant, neverending cycle.

"I love it Joongie! Did you create this?" You asked shyly as you carefully picked up the beautiful jewelry. Placing it around your neck and clasping it closed.

"I did design it, my dear~" He affirms softly with a smile. Still holding his breath to hear any verbal reassurance that you liked the piece.

"Do you like it?" Hongjoong asked hopefully. His eyes still on you and admiring how you made the pendant look even more beautiful.

"Like it? I love it!" You keen happily and look down at it adoringly. The glittering sparkles of the diamonds catching your eye at each turn.

Hongjoong smiled happily and breathed a long awaited sigh of relief.

"I'm so happy you do, darling~" He coos and trails his fingers through your locks while enjoying the rewarding ecstasy of the moment after several missed nights of sleep.

"The diamond that you are outshines the diamonds in the necklace that you wear." He hums thoughtfully.

You turned your head away to shield yourself from revealing the deep crimson shade that rushed to your cheeks.

"So much more precious than anything I have~" He purrs fondly as you continue to look away.

You turned and hid your face in his chest. Clinging to him while trying to figure out what to say to him.

"It's okay..." He whispers, finding your breath slowly evening out and holding you to himself while you smiled against him.
