I think Gridania is the funniest of the starter city-states in FFXIV, at least for the duration of ARR, because they seem so completely oblivious to their own societal problems. Starting in Ul'dah was really like "yeah so uhhh watch out for The Mafia" so you go "okay yeah i get the gist", then you get to Limsa and someone comes sprinting up to you screaming "THERE ARE NO PIRATES HERE" unprompted so you go "hmm. weird and telling thing to say but i appreciate your candor", then you get to Gridania and it's like "hello! you have entered Paradise City, population 'however many Elezen are here and NOBODY ELSE'" and you're like "hang on do you actually not know what racism is or are you fucking with me?"

Like you'll be talking to Raubahn and Nanamo and they'll be like "oh woe we need to fix the dire income inequality in Ul'dah but we need to wield that very power to enact our plans" and Merlwyb will say "Yeah I'm a military dictator shove it up your ass" and the Kan-E will be like "all i wish for is peace in the Black Shroud... we believe all life has value" and then have the Adders send you out to murder one hundred oppressed miqo'te poachers because she thinks they smell funny

of course these things develop as ARR goes on but this is really silly at the start

hi. I'm aromantic and I'm angry. as are most of us. I have a couple things to say.

aromantic is a queer identity on itself, if someone is aromantic they are queer. this means a cishet allosexual aromantic man is queer. if you don't think a cishet allosexual aromantic man is queer, you don't really support aromantic people at all, and that's not very nice of you.

a queerplatonic relationship isn't just "friends with benefits" or "friendship plus" or whatever else you want to label it as. there's no set definition for queerplatonic relationships and there shouldn't be. a qpr is defined by the people in it deciding it's a qpr. nothing else.

friendship is not lesser than romance. fuck you.

My face is having uncontrollable spasms. Great. It hurts really, really, really bad.

I think part of why I have trouble explaining pain to the doctor is when they ask about the pain scale I always think “Well, if someone threw me down a flight of stairs right now or punched me a few times, it would definitely hurt a lot more” so I end up saying a low number. I was reading an article that said that “10” is the most commonly reported number and that is baffling to me. When I woke up from surgery with an 8" incision in my body and I could hardly even speak, I was in the most horrific pain of my life but I said “6” because I thought “Well, if you hit me in the stomach, it would be worse.”

Re: Life Update AKA I'm Not Dead Yet

but I'm now on a third round of much heavier duty antibiotics and got referred to a specialist

they're definitely working though, and I've seen a lot of overall improvement from the very start, and even more in the past two days, but ugh I am ready to be done with this

life update

so it turns out that the reason i've been feeling like ass for the past however many months wasn't just the Malaise of winter or being lazy or allergies

I've been dealing with a massive infection in my sinuses and possibly down into one of my teeth

on antibiotics now, and seeing a huge improvement already, but I didn't realize how messed up and sick I was until the meds started working

I hate hate HATE all those 2edgy 4me theories about kids shows. Like Angelica dreaming up the rugrats, or the ed, edd, and eddy children being ghosts, or literally anything that takes a lighthearted and fun kids show and has to turn it into some tragic take of rape or murder or misinformed mental illness. So you know what? From now on I’m gonna do the exact opposite. Every cool grim-dark show is now because of a bunch of children. To get us started: Game of Thrones: A middle-school DnD campaign with the most angry, vindictive DM who has promised to kill everyone’s player characters (and their family) by the end.
