OOOOOOH MY GOD. OH MY GOD OH OH MY GOD. I JUST. okay. i used to always think it was beyond funny and also stupid that edward was able to bring alphonse’s soul back from the gates of truth just by giving up his arm because like. yes limbs are important but it’s nothing compared to your entire mental being. but! BUT !!!! by taking edward’s arm, truth took away his natural ability to transmute ! and we finally learn at the end of the series that the equivalent exchange for bringing a soul AND its body back is to give up your use of alchemy entirely!!!!! so it !!!!!! it makes sense !!!!!!!! that in order to bring back a part of alphonse, edward only had to give up PART OF HIS ABILITY TO PERFORM ALCHEMY !!!!!!!!!!!!! sans automail of course but oh my god. it makes sense. how has it taken me eight years to realize this.

perfuma’s powers would probably be the most useful in rebuilding scorpia’s kingdom now that i’m thinking about it. like she’s had to overcome the horde poisoning her land on a lesser scale and with the help of she ra, but she at least knows what it’s like and her powers are all nature centric so she could really help in rebuilding the ecosystem...... it really is sweet that they paired up the princess who lost absolutely everything to the horde with the princess who’s specialty is creation and rebirth. really really love that.

adora’s mind seeing catra yelling “dont you get it? i love you, i always have” versus catra in actuality saying it very softly and gently, possibly even whispering it is so.....

catra has been so afraid this whole time of her love for adora and the ways that it could hurt both of them, through adora rejecting her or someone using that love against them, but she’s done with that now. she doesn’t care what anyone even adora might have to say about it, but she’s going to make sure she knows. the way she says it, so softly and so vulnerably, is indicative of her no longer being afraid of being soft and vulnerable.

for adora though? it’s the one thing she’s always wanted, always hoped for, and at the end of the day always fought for. she finds her strength in the love and connections she has with other people, and the core of that has always been driven by catra. so of course when adora is at the end of her rope, ready to put it all on the shelf and give it up..... of COURSE it would feel like a yell to her. a scream. one last final push of strength, one more reason to get back up brush off the dust and just FIGHT, because catra loves her, and that is what adora has been fighting for since the beginning. god.

ugh okay the way adora really thought it was catra and that she was pulling her close in a way that looked like catra was going to kiss her, and you can see some slight disappointment on her face when she just touches their foreheads together, and even more so when she realizes catra isn’t actually there…

before s5 e11 whenever catra asked something of adora, it was either that she stay or that she leave her alone, and adora never fully gave catra either of those, but s5 e11 is the first time that catra actually lets it be a question, what does adora want? she doesn’t pose it as a request anymore, she leaves it open ended so adora can make of it what she wants, and she asks her twice. both times adora chooses the safety of everyone else above all, even her own life, and catra takes that to mean “not me��, because if adora wanted her, she’d stop doing things that could take her away from catra. of course WE all know it’s just the opposite, the thing adora always wanted more than anything was to love and be loved by catra, but catra isn’t fully presenting herself as an option anymore, and adora just isn’t the kind of person to ask catra to make herself an option.

it’s such a frustrating scene to watch because catra is practically begging adora to choose her in every way just short of asking flat out because it never got her anywhere, but if she had, i’m almost positive adora would have right there. but neither of them are thinking clearly due to shadow weaver, and adora doesn’t think she has any right to ask anything of catra anymore. it takes confronting the fact that she could lose adora for good for catra to realize, even if adora can’t choose me, i’m going to choose her, and i won’t stop because she will always be worth it to me. it’s one of those ways that catradora and glimbow find a mirror in each other, because glimmer had the same revelation earlier in the season and made the exact same choice for bow. in the end i really think it speaks to the idea that while yes love is an emotion, but more importantly it’s an action. you can feel all you want but if you aren’t actively putting your love out there, making the conscious choice and putting in the effort to show it, it could ultimately amount to nothing.

i saw someone complaining that adora and glimmer patched things up too quickly after glimmer was rescued and that it wasn’t “fair” that bow got to be angry and adora didn’t, but adora literally says it herself that bow was too wrapped up in trying to get glimmer back that he never let himself process everything that happened. adora had been at odds with glimmer for weeks, months, and all she had been doing was overthinking and processing, and her and glimmer dragging out their respective pain for so long is why they blew up at each other in the first place. that’s exactly why they made up so fast because they realized how stupid they both had been. bow on the other hand was occupied cleaning up after the two of them. if he’d been the one to just immediately make up with glimmer and adora the one to keep dragging it out literally no character development would’ve happened for any of them.

if you want to talk about scorpia being reduced to a single trait i definitely want to hear it bc now that i think about it you're totally right

oh she’s far more ambitious and selfish than just about anyone gives her credit for. she was a force captain in her own right and got there all on her own. i highly doubt hordak would have kept her around if she hadn’t been useful to him. like catra, she’s known the horde is in the wrong for a while, but she stayed because it’s what she knows. for the majority of her life when it came down to abandoning her home that no longer existed to fight for the greater good, or to stay and assist in the further destruction of her planet, she stayed. and when she left it wasn’t because she wanted to finally start fighting for the greater good, she even says herself she doesn’t want to destroy the horde. she just wants entrapta back.

i also think it’s kind of annoying that everyone will go on about other character’s self sacrificial tendencies, but not scorpia’s. how many times did she put herself on the line when she didn’t have to for catra’s sake? (PLEASE read legend of the fire princess. please.) and the way she risked death or in my opinion worse while allowing perfuma, sea hawk, and double trouble to escape in the perils of peekablue? the way she constantly reduces herself down to just being worth how useful she is to other people? “i’m the muscle”. come on. it’s all right there.

and it’s really frustrating that everyone reduces her down to loyalty and hugs! honestly her loyalty might be as much a fault as it is a strength. all her complexities and complications is what makes her journey in season 4 so beautiful and interesting, & i really don’t understand how people can go on and on about how much they looove scorpia and specifically the princess scorpia episode while pushing all of that aside for her more palatable aspects.

i know we all love castaspella but she’s literally in canon the family member than when u cut off all ur hair she goes “oh :) you did something with your hair :) i definitely preferred it the other way :) but it’s your choice :) but also hair always grows back and i think that you should grow it out again :) but again in the end it’s totally your choice :)”

i have 20 pages left of shadow and bone and thru most of this i’ve been thinking like i wish there was more time in the beginning dedicated selling mal and alina’s relationship to readers or at least some more flashbacks sprinkled around bc i felt like it was kind of lacking and i really wanted to like them. anyway if someone can draw a little headset on her this was literally me having to take a call immediately after reading “i love you alina, even the part of you that loved him”
