Meet Benji!
I’ve already talked about Judy Travis and her career as a beauty guru and I talked a little bit about her adorable family, but I haven’t really gone into depth about her husband, Benji. The Travis family is definitely familiar with Youtube and they are all comfortable in front of the camera - even her three little baby bears!
Benji is a “foodie” that loves organic products and loves to make his own food. He is of Japanese and Irish descent so his cooking is really influenced by European and Asian cultures. He is known for his “Green Juice” that he makes for his entire family. I love watching him make this with his daughters because it promotes family time and being healthy at the same time.
Benji then branched out from Judy’s vlogging channel and started to feed into his passion by creating a Youtube channel all about the food he makes! Yum! Benji’s passion for food is very obvious and he loves to treat his wife and daughters by preparing them a home cooked breakfast, lunch, and dinner every single day.
One of my favorite dishes is his Carbonara! He said that a typical Italian carbonara won’t contain cream, but he adds a dash of cream to add a smooth, rich texture in this dish and it looks absolutely amazing! He definitely loves to try to new things and play around with recipes to cater to his interests. The great thing about his channel is that his recipes are easy to follow and they look delicious. Check his video out if you’re interested:
youtube
If you’re a person who wants to explore new dishes and wants to try cooking a meal at home, I would recommend his channel. Be sure to eat something first, otherwise you’ll be starving!

Meet Katy!
I recently stumbled upon Katy’s Youtube channel and it’s safe to say that she is definitely becoming one of my favorite makeup gurus. I know, another makeup guru? But just hear me out.
Youtube tends to force people to put a filter over their personalties and not be their true selves. Some people tend to talk in weird pitched voices, they talk about what’s popular just to get views, and the viewer can just tell that the person isn’t being his or herself.
When I first watched Katy, she was down to Earth and definitely spunky. Her personality really shows with each video and I kept clicking through her videos for more. She sin’t afraid to curse in her videos, but its not to the point where it’s vulgar and inappropriate, it’s just enough where her blunt, spunky personality shines through.
Not only is her personality really likable, she also does great makeup videos. She is extremely precise with how she applies her makeup while others are heavy handed and sloppy. Makeup is an art and she definitely takes that to heart. All of her work is different, clean, and inspired from something that she wanted to simply experiment with.
If you aren’t tired of checking our the other hundred beauty gurus I talked about, feel free to check her page.

Meet Ann!
Ann is definitely my favorite beauty guru on Youtube. I first stumbled on one of her videos in 2006 and she was actually the first beauty guru that I have ever watched. I have continued to watch her ever since so there is definitely a special spot for her in my subscriptions list.
Her videos are simple, they are not overly edited and she doesn’t talk too much, just enough to keep her subscribers wanting more with every single video. That might sound boring to you but it’s nice to watch a video on Youtube that isn’t about the dramatic editing to get likes. Her videos are simple because she purely cares about the content that she puts out. Of course, in today’s society, one must keep up with the advancement of technology, but sometimes simplicity is key.
She has good makeup tutorials, fashion videos, and occasionally will do some hair videos. She used to be consistent a few years back but lately she has been on and off with her Youtube channel. However, I am still subscribed to her in hopes of getting a notification that she has uploaded a new video. Occasionally, I’ll even watch her older videos again and again just because I love her videos.
Check her out and maybe you’ll see why i still hope for more videos:

Meet Jenn Im!
Jenn is definitely in my Top 5 Youtubers. I first started watching her in my first year of college when I searched “winter fashion” and she had a video of how to style various winter coats. She is a fashion Youtuber with a unique style.
She does a lot of styling videos where she’ll give ideas on how to style hats, boyfriend jeans, joggers, and more. She’ll basically take a current trend and give people ideas how to wear it with pieces that most people might have in their closet.
What stood out to me the most about her is that she can take a simple piece and transform it to make it edgy or classy and she can make a plastic bag look cute. No, really, I’m serious.
She definitely takes minimalist to a completely different level with her videos because they are very cleanly edited and she takes the time to sync the music with each clip. It’s very simple but she definitely takes a lot of time to make each video consistent.
She is eloquent and usually has her head in a book. I like listening to her talk because she really goes in depth and in detail about what she is talking about. I could even listen to her for an hour while she reviews a book! There’s something about the way she speaks that keeps me watching every single video.
She also does a lot of word play when she gives names for her outfits and it definitely reflects her personality. Even her Youtube handle is a play on words and I think many people gravitate towards her channel because it’s interesting. She even captioned this photo “Stair Down” which I thought was pretty clever:

If you like fashion and books, she is definitely one to check out if you haven’t heard of her before. You won’t regret it.

PewDiePie
Tumblr media
Meet Felix!
Chances are that if you’ve heard of some well known YouTube creators then he’s one of them. Why? Well, Felix is the most subscribed to person on YouTube, with over 40 million subscribers. He’s a part of the gaming community and is obviously doing something right, which is why I felt that he needed to be recognized.
I’ll be honest and say that gaming videos aren't my favorite but occasionally I stumble across some and watch them. When I heard about PewDiePie and his huge following I became curious and watched some of his videos.
His videos aren’t anything you wouldn’t already expect from a gamer. Most of them are Let’s Plays and game walkthroughs. He records himself while playing so you get to see his reactions and commentary. Typical YouTube gamer, right?
Well, I watched one video and that turned into two videos and so on. Coming from someone who doesn't really care for gaming videos I was completely entertained. I can see why PewDiePie is so appealing. His personality is everything! There’s a comedic twist to his commentary, which I don't think he does on purpose. It just happens and his energy seems to always be high.
It’s obvious he loves what he does but then again, who wouldn’t love playing games as a job? He also vlogs so if you need a break from gaming videos, you have other options.
If you’re into gaming then PewDiePie should be your one stop. Even if you’re not into it, just check out his channel for a good laugh. As long as you don’t mind some profanity here and there, he’s worth a view or two. And that’s not because he has a big following. He’s just that entertaining!

How To Cake It
Tumblr media
Meet Yolanda!
As the channel name implies, cake is what Yolanda does best. I actually stumbled upon this channel a few months ago and was instantly hooked. I think I enjoy watching people turn ordinary cakes into masterpieces more than I like eating them. Okay, that's a lie!
Unquestionably, Yolanda is a pro at what she does. She takes cake decorating to the next level. On her channel, She’ll teach you how to make a typical cake with minimal decorating but then she'll hit you with a cake that is far too pretty to eat.
What I like about Yolanda is that she works hard to perfect each and every detail on her cakes and I do mean EVERY detail. I have seen plenty of tv shows and YouTube channels that focus on cake decorating but no one seems to compare to Yolanda. She has jokingly stated that she has OCD when it comes to making her cakes and I feel that she might be right about that. She’s extremely meticulous and so her cakes end up looking incredibly real.
Part of the process of making these cakes includes cutting and scraping away at parts that don’t fit her desired design and I have always wondered whether or not those pieces go to waste. Sure enough Yolanda also provides videos that show you how to make desserts that can be made with just the scrapes.
As someone who has a major sweet tooth as wishes she had a cake decorating talent, I have to recommend that you check out this channel because Yolanda definitely deserves more recognition for her craft. I'm sure you’ll enjoy it just as much as I do.
Here are just some of her creations.

Meet Claudia Sulewski!
Claudia is the queen of editing on YouTube! She is only 19 years old and has already accomplished so much. At the age of 18, she moved out of her home in Chicago to her own house in Los Angeles, she pays for her own bills and basically supports herself. YouTube isn’t the only way she supports herself, she is currently the ambassador for Teen Vogue. It’s so crazy how YouTube can change someone’s life!
But she does deserve all the credit because she definitely is talented and creative. She started her channel around the age of 14 so she’s been around for a while now. But what really stands out about her, other than her funny personality, is her editing skills. She does things with her editing program that I didn’t even think was possible! Sometimes, she’ll keep it simple, but she’ll surprise her viewers with a masterpiece that deserves way more recognition. Don’t believe me? Check this video out! She filmed, edited, directed, produced, whatever, she created the entire thing! She did have some help with her friends to set up the cameras, but she was probably the main contributor for this project!
youtube
She does various things like makeup and hair tutorials and other lifestyle videos, so many people tune in to watch her videos. When I first watched one of her videos, I thought she was older than she was. On screen, she definitely is mature but at the same time, she still can be a silly teenager. She is also family oriented which is definitely apparent in her vlogs. It’s extremely refreshing to see these qualities in a young woman who has a lot going for herself.
I really like Claudia, not only is she an independent person doing what she loves, she has stayed humble ever since her first video. I hope you’ll see these qualities when you watch her videos. Be sure to check her out!

Meet Judy Travis!
I’ve already told you about Judy Travis and her family, but what really started her YouTube career were her makeup videos.
Judy has been on YouTube for many, many years and specializes in first impression videos. In these videos, she will buy new products at the drugstore and will try them out for the entire day. She’ll give her viewers updates about the product throughout the day and will give her honest opinion about the product. She is the queen of first impression videos because she really goes in depth about the product: how it looks in flash photos, the smell, the chemicals, price points, consistency, etc. She is so detailed that her viewers won’t have many questions about the product. She reviews a lot of drugstore makeup, which is what most her subscribers can afford, so lots of people go to her channel for reasons why or why not to buy to a product. Judy even compares drugstore makeup to high-end makeup lines, which gives her viewers more of a reason to tune in – we love getting good makeup for cheap!
I personally love her videos because she has a voice that is easy to listen to. One might ask, what does that even mean? I personally love listening to her talk and I could listen to her talk about random things for hours. I’m a fan of Judy Travis and I hope she stays around on YouTube to continue her first impression videos.
Check her out!

Michelle Phan
Tumblr media
Meet Michelle Phan!
Michelle has over 8 million subscribers and is the pioneer of beauty gurus on Youtube. She has always been an artistic person and was always interested in drawing, art, and creating things.
I think what really made her channel popular was her Halloween makeup tutorials where she would paint her whole face into a character. She then branched out and made videos where she used makeup to look like celebrities, like Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga. It was crazy how much she looked like them! And all she used was makeup and wigs to really achieve the look.
Tumblr media
What really attracted me to her was her soothing voice and how detailed and precise she was in her makeup tutorials. I learned a lot of techniques from her as fas as makeup goes so she really has made an impact on me personally.
She has made Youtube into her career and that can be difficult especially since you have to keep creating your own content to stay relevant. But Youtube has helped her to start a business called Ipsy, which is a subscription program where people receive boxes of makeup each month and because her fan base is so large, this business has definitely thrived. I was even interested myself to sign up for the program but declined because I my wallet does not do well with subscription programs.
But I would definitely check her out! I’m sure you will be impressed with her artistic abilities and techniques.

Colleen Ballinger/Miranda Sings
Tumblr media
Meet Colleen Ballinger (left) and Miranda Sings (right)
If you couldn't already tell - these two are the same people. Miranda Sings is a character that Colleen created and made a separate channel for. In fact, Miranda has become a lot more popular than Colleen herself.
Miranda Sings is supposed to be a very obnoxious (if you couldn’t already tell) and narcissistic character. This character is a self proclaimed singer, actress, magician, model, and much more. In reality, she is talentless. Most of the videos on Miranda’s channel are of her singing terribly, doing hideous make up tutorials and challenges, and addressing her “haters.” She also collaborates with many YouTubers, which I find to be her funniest videos.
This is all for comedic purposes, of course. Miranda Sings may not be appealing to everyone and I can see why. Most adults don’t really find humor in being obnoxious. I think this character is geared more towards tweens/teens.
Colleen, on the other hand, might be a little bit more relatable for most people. She incorporates comedy in her videos but in a toned down version. Her channel consists mainly of a weekly Q&As called Colleen’s Corner. Every so often she posts a video of her singing (in her real voice) or dancing and they often feature her husband and other family members and many of her friends. Most of the people featured on her channel are also on YouTube.
In the last few years, Colleen has gone on tours performing as herself and Miranda Sings which has contributed greatly to her success. Her tours have gotten so big that she has been able to go on world tours and include her family and friends in her show.
Personally I like Colleen as herself more than her character but like I said, Miranda might be more appealing to younger audiences. However, I will admit that every now and then, there’s a Miranda video that is pretty funny.
So even if you don't like one, you’ll hopefully like the other. Check out both channels and decide for yourself.

Jenna Marbles
Tumblr media
Meet Jenna Marbles!
Jenna is definitely YouTube royalty. She is well known for her comedy videos which tend to lean towards offensive comedy but I promise you her comedy is a lot more funny than it is offensive. If you don't mind excessive cursing and somewhat raunchy content than you’ll have no problem watching Jenna’s videos. Many of her videos are in relation to real-life events and sometimes they are super random. You’ll just have to tune in every Wednesday (or Thursday) to see what she throws at you.
Jenna’s rise to success was thanks to her video “How to Trick People into Thinking You’re Good Looking.” Since then, she has become one of the most successful YouTubers to date. Jenna also has a vlogging channel, however, it only gets updated every now and then. Every so often Jenna will collaborate with other YouTubers but you’ll almost always see Julien, her boyfriend who is also on YouTube, and their 3 dogs.
As if she couldn’t have anymore success, Jenna is one of the few YouTubers chosen by Madam Tussauds to be immortalized through a wax figure and displayed in the New York location. Her boyfriend vlogged the process of her getting her measurements done along with all the other small details that go into the wax figures. I really think its cool that YouTuber’s like Jenna are getting recognized beyond the YouTube community.
When seeing Jenna on vlogs, it seems like she’s slightly more toned down than she is on her main channel videos but, overall, she seems like she’s all about good vibes. She never fails to make me laugh and if you see her videos you might just say the same.
If Jenna’s style of videos sounds like your thing then you should check her out! Jenna Marbles

iJustine
Tumblr media
Meet iJustine!
Justine Ezarik is a really quirky Youtuber that has over 2,400,000 subscribers and has started Youtube since May 2006.  I would consider her an Internet celebrity because she has really branded and made a name for herself. She is really interested in video games and I think that might surprise a lot of men, but her fan base continues to grow. She also has hosted and appeared many times at gaming conventions so this is a big part of her Youtube career.
Not only is she into gaming, but also she is really into all sorts of technology like filming equipment, gadgets, but most especially, Apple products. She has stated many times that she is a huge Apple fan and has bought several products.
I personally love her unboxing videos where she showcases the new pieces of technology that she bought. She is usually one of the first people to have it so she’ll always give her fan base mini reviews and thoughts about each new product. She has unboxed many, many Apple products so I think that a lot of Apple fans will appreciate her videos. I know I do!
I think what stands out about her the most is that on screen she seems to be a really down to earth type of person who can be really silly at the same time. This quality is sometimes lost in bigger Youtubers so I’m glad that she has remained very humble through all of her success. Check out her videos and let me know what you think. I hope that her personality is as obvious to you as it is to me.

Tumblr media
Meet Ryan Higa!
Ryan has been a part of the YouTube community for quite some time. His style of videos are comedy and I think he does them well.
Ryan actually started making videos with his friend Sean, who continues to be in many of his videos today. His success started fairly quickly after joining YouTube thanks to his How To Be series (How To Be Gangster and How To Be Emo were the most popular). Ryan also did lip synching videos at the time, however, he run into some copyright issues, and so that led him to create music himself with videos to go along with them. And, of course, they are meant to be funny and not at all serious.
In 2012, Ryan put together a production company, Ryan Higa Production Company (RHPC), with his friends who make appearances in almost all his videos. Today, Ryan is known for his puns, I Dare You, Dear Ryan, Parkourse, and Teehee Time videos. I should mention that he has a secondary channel, HigaTv, where he posts behind the scenes of his main channel videos and other content.
I have watched Ryan for a few years now and I honestly feel like he can do no wrong when it comes to his videos. That is unless he makes one about Naruto or Dragon Ball Z but those just aren’t my cup of tea. His video quality and content over the last couple of years have been majorly upgraded and continue to get better. He, himself, has a an awesome personality which is probably why I love to watch his videos, even if I cant always relate to them.
If I could only recommend one comedy channel to watch, his would be the one so check him out!

Lilly Singh “IISuperwomanII”
Tumblr media
Meet Lilly Singh but better known as Superwoman!
Lilly is probably one of the fastest rising YouTubers right now. She is known for her comedy videos, which are found on her primary channel, IISuperwomanII, but she also does vlogs on her secondary channel, SuperwomanVlogs.
You’ll find comedy videos on many topics that are almost always relatable. Some of her videos take on a rant type of style, however, she never fails to make me laugh. Much of her inspiration for making these videos comes from her own experiences. It won’t take long to notice that her Indian culture has quite an influence on her work and that she is full of pride. Lilly also has many videos collaborating with other YouTubers and people who are well-known to the Indian community. Recently, Lilly was able to go on her own world tour known as Unicorn Island.
Some of my favorite videos of hers are the comedy sketches which feature characters inspired by her Punjabi parents. Paramjeet and Manjeet are her fictional parents that are both played by Lilly herself. These videos showcase typical stereotypes of Indian parents.
The great thing about Lilly is that she is all about spreading positivity. She always tries to find the good within all the crappy stuff going on. She’s also extremely hard working, which can be seen in her vlogs that often show the behind the scenes of her videos and any other project she has going on.
Overall, she is the most relatable YouTuber I watch. I think you’ll enjoy watching her just as much as I do so check her out!

Sam and Nia
Tumblr media
Here we have, from left to right, Symphony, Sam, Nia, and Abram
This appears to be a happy little family and they may very well be, however, Sam and Nia were the center of YouTube controversy for most of the month of August (2015). In one month they managed to destroy their brand and leave almost everyone asking themselves, “Why are they still on YouTube?”
The controversy starts with Sam filming himself surprising Nia by telling her that she is pregnant with their third child. Being that he was a nurse, he had access to pregnancy tests at work and later tested her urine left in the toilet (TMI?). It was certainly a unique way to announce a pregnancy and so they went viral. A few short days later they filmed a video announcing Nia had miscarried. No one wanted to believe it could possibly be fake or that they would have the heart to lie about something so serious, however, their reactions seemed way too forced and fake. Even the dialogue seemed a bit off. This left people questioning the couple and whether or not they faked a pregnancy and miscarriage in hopes of gaining more views. Now, whether or not this is true, we’ll never know.
The controversy continued when a few days later Sam was discovered to be one of the many people whose Ashley Madison account got hacked. Again, the couple sat down and made a video talking about it, however, Sam used his Christian faith as pass for his intent to cheat, which left their viewers feeling even more uneasy.
Just when you think that they reached the peak of all this drama, Sam and Nia got kicked out of a vloggers convention. Why? Well, Sam decided to confront two other YouTubers for, what he considered to be, bullying him on twitter after their miscarriage video came out.
With these chain of events, Sam and Nia decided to finally take a break from YouTube, however, I assume they will be trying to make their come back if they haven't already.
I don't think they will ever fully bounce back after dragging their channel through the mud but I certainly won’t be watching them again. There are plenty of other things that this couple has done, specifically Sam, that is extremely off putting and makes me question just how genuine they really are. I wouldn’t suggest watching this family but I’ll leave that up to you.

The Travis Family
Tumblr media
Meet Judy, Benji, and their baby bears, Julianna, Keira, and Miya!
Judy is a Youtuber who started out making beauty videos and slowly started a vlogging channel. She has documented years and years of her life and has uploaded it onto her channel.
I think a lot of people are attracted to her channel because of her quirky family members. They are a small family from Seattle, Washington, and Benji, her husband, is her childhood friend and has dated him for many years. They tied the knot in 2009 and they have three daughters. The first one is named Julianna, JB for short, and Judy’s fan base have watched her grow from an infant into the young toddler she is today. Last year, they were surprised with a set of twins named Keira and Miya, and they are just the icing on top. I think it makes it more interesting to watch a set of twins grow up, especially if you don’t personally know a pair.
I think a lot of Youtubers try to sugar coat and create a perfect life for their viewers, but Judy will post the good and even the bad. Some people might think to themselves, why would someone put their personal lives out on the internet for everyone to see?
I can’t tell you the exact reason why I tune in to watch their daily vlogs. I can’t tell you why other people even tune in to watch these vlogs. But I personally was drawn to this family because Judy is Filipino like myself so I could relate to some of the foods she ate, the jokes she told, and her lifestyle. To me, it almost feels like a reality show without the script and the glitz and glam. It’s all authentic and I think that maybe the people who tune into these vlogs are just curious to see how others live their lives. Especially Youtubers with a bigger fan base. I truly think that their simplicity is refreshing to watch. I hope you tune in to their channel and see why fans gush over their adorable daughters!

The DeFrancoFam
Tumblr media
Meet Phil, Lindsay, & Baby Trey!
The DeFrancoFam channel was created in April of 2015 so it’s fairly new, however, they are not new to the YouTube scene. Both Phil and Lindsay started their own channels a few years back (although Lindsay doesn't appear to be active on hers anymore) and decided to start a family vlog after giving birth to their baby, Trey, and getting married. Phil continues to update his channels, Philly D and Philip DeFranco.
Most of the vlogging on this channel is done by Lindsay, who is a stay-at-home mom. Like most family vloggers whose children steal the show, the DeFrancoFam is no different. I can guarantee that baby Trey will keep you coming back to watch more.
What I like about this family is how down to earth they are. Although they are successful, they don’t seem to let that change their personalities, which is a common occurrence with many well-known YouTubers. Despite being parents, Phil and Lindsay still appeal to people like me, who have neither a child nor spouse. And, of course, Trey is just the sweetest thing on earth!
While their YouTube channel continues to grow, I’m hoping that their family will too. If family vloggers is your thing then be sure to check them out!
