Because I can appreciate a good move – I like that they figured out what the Asides should be. The last ones have been proper short videos that are easier to produce and aren't relevant to the overarching plot, which is what they should have been in the first place.

The bad move is having no glimpse of the finale in 2023, considering the Asides were supposed to be something to reduce the wait until actual episodes.

Have you seen this? It was fairly recent (I blocked out the date, just in case, and did all I could do to block out any identifying information) but I personally found Thomas’ response SO rude, especially to a fan of his who was literally just being nice?

I might be reading into it too much, but I also thought that Thomas starting his tweet with “Very important reminder”, after the first account did the same thing, was just… weird? I can’t articulate it but it feels like he’s mimicking the account or something, I don’t know.

Also I’m not even going to comment on the original tweet lol but this is just part 163727 in “Thomas Can’t Take Criticism” (even though this was literally a fan BEING NICE!!!)

while i wholeheartedly disagree with the first tweet (fanders who spend 90% of their time complaining about crit are so fucking annoying lmao), i can assume the intentions were good. it does read as a young kid saying it, and we can just hope they grow out of that phase of hating anyone who criticises their favourite thing

but oh my god. thomas needs to just stop responding to tweets i think. even if i think the first tweet is rude, it was nice towards thomas! theyre so thoroughly licking his boot, and all he cares about is they MENTIONED criticism! did not criticise thomas, IT MENTIONED CRITICISM! hi just found your blog - i dont interact much with TS stuff but you have very nice opinions and HOO BOY. reading through all this has reminded me. so I worked on the animated Storytime Madlibs and if you want the full rant of that i will happily explain all the drama that happened there, but the whole thing of Sanders Sides being used to string the fanbase along is totally a recurring motif with Fosterdawg (Thomas' company). They love to dangle promises in front of their audience and never deliver. They're stringing people along with Sanders Sides to keep their audience, and dancing Thomas in front of (young) fans to work for them without having to compensate people for their work - with projects like the animated Madlibs or things like the Writer's Room, which actually happened around the same exact time (the patreon launched just before the Madlibs video), which makes me wonder if it was just a business model they decided to start using then, since they told us part of the reason we were paid so little was that they were struggling financially.

I haven't kept up much with TS content since then, given most of us were left with a sour taste in our mouths after the project, but I'm not surprised to hear the content has continued to go downhill.

I cannot believe he and his team did that. It’s absolutely disgusting. Ever since I found out that none of you were properly compensated for your work on the madlibs video I haven’t seen Thomas or his content the same way.

update: watched it, didn't like it, but i'm biased bc i'm not a huge anime fan so i understand why some ppl would like it. but yeah i found it insanely cringe and uninteresting (also the fucking orange eyes..... "DO YOU GET IT? THERE'S ANOTHER DARK SIDE. DO YOU GET IT? DO YOU GET OUR VERY CLEVER HINTS?")

also saw a post saying this video would have been better actually animated, and while i agree, considering Thomas and his team's reputation with artists and animators, i'm glad they didn't bother any of them 😬 stay away from artists unless you're willing to give the time and money they deserve for their hard work

i agree 100%. fan participation can be good when it's kept to a minimum, but to make them write parts of the videos?? not only did it fuck with the quality of the series (no hate on those who participate, but imo most of them are biased fans and not writers), but the characters don't sound like themselves anymore

I hate the writers room, I genuinely think it's fucked up so many interactions we could've had. Interactions that could've been so much better than we have.
