Yeah, they pronounce it "sun" during the Vytal Tournament. Which is just. No. There's no world in which that's a valid pronunciation.

Unless it’s somewhere in the novels or games, I don’t ever remember Dust being used for medical treatment. The closest thing would be Hazel shoving those Dust crystals in his arms, but Dust is a power source first and foremost.

In Justice League x RWBY Part Two, Batman gets poisoned by a Grimm and Weiss says that he'd recover faster if they had access to Dust. And that line feels really weird to me, because when has Dust ever been used medically in RWBY?
