I FINISHED FF16. I AM FULL OF FEELINGS.
spoilers ahead, as this mainly deals with the ending.
I did not like the ending, just to be clear. Maybe over time, I will like it more (but knowing me, I don't think that will happen).
I don't like that Clive dies. That Dion dies. That Joshua lives but his brother is gone.
Now I know that you could interpret what happens in the ending more ambiguously, that since you don't see their bodies Dead for sure, they could have lived. I just personally can't unsee that with the way the scenes are framed, with the way everyone reacts in the immediate aftermath, that it could be anything but Death.
And what about after all that? What happened to everyone? What happened to Jill? Gav? Otto? Everyone at the hideout? What happened with Joshua? Terence? Where did they go after, how did they live after? We don't see any of that.
Instead things skip to some nebulous time period in the future where Joshua (presumably)'s account of what happened, of a time where magic and Eikons existed, is essentially considered a fairytale and magic a myth.
It feels unfulfilling, like I got the Bad ending despite finishing all the friendship questlines, filling Clive's wall of memories. Does he not deserve to live? Does Dion not deserve to live too? Do they not deserve to see the world become beautiful again? Do they and those they love not deserve to be together, to live in the peace and freedom that was so hard won?
I don't know. It feels unsatisfying. It feels cruel to them and those they left behind.
To be clear, I only feel so strongly because I enjoyed the rest of the game very much! (I could do with more Jill content though, I felt like that was lacking a little) The gameplay was enjoyable. Especially during the Eikon fights, where I felt the creators had done a fantastic job in conveying how truly grand and larger than human the Eikons were. Those fights felt BIG!
I love many of the supporting cast and many of Clive's allies. It's because I enjoyed the rest of the game so much that I feel so unsatisfied with the ending.

Dread's Dawntrail Preorder Release Giveaway!
Tumblr media
In celebration of Dawntrail being open for preorders today, I've decided that I want to give back to this community with a mogstation giveaway. Been itching to change something about your character or eyeing a cute new outfit? Let me take you on a mogstation shopping spree! I'll be choosing three lucky winners who will get $25 USD to spend on whatever their hearts desire from mogstation.
Reblog this to be entered into the drawing.
As this is just a celebration for our beloved MMORPG you aren't required to follow me to enter!
I will be using the mogstation buy for a friend feature. If you win, you MUST be added to my friends list and wait 72 hours before I can send you your items. This is stated in the features rules.
The above rule will also limit the type of items you're able to buy. You will be able to choose anything under these categories: Fantasia, Tales of Adventure, Costume Set, Dyes, Weapons, Tools, Armor, Accessories, and Housing. I have made exceptions in the past with sending money through PayPal if you wish to purchase something not in these categories.
This giveaway is open to EVERYONE since I have alts in every region.
The drawing will start on April 24th, at 8 PM EST and I will announce the winners shortly after. Winners MUST respond within 48 hours or I will draw again.

Hey folks! Been sitting on this one for two weeks, done and ready, not wanting to release so close to the Behemoths and just reveling in the fact that for once I have a small stockpile of brews that are done/close to done. It's nice to take a break and not worry about what's next.
Anyway, this is a complete rework of my Transformation Cog item I did a few years back. For those not familiar with the source material or just need a refresher, the Transformation Cog, or T-Cog, is from Transformers and is the organ that allows a Cybertronian to transform into (and scan in later continuities) an alternate mode.
The original version was a reworked version of the Druid's Wildshape feature, with a focus on beast forms rather than vehicular ones. This time, I've gone the other direction and made various types of vehicular alt mode, each for a different purpose and giving you related benefits. A focus of this new version was, as with most of my reworks, refinement of the old idea and simplifying its mechanics to be easier to use. I think I've accomplished that goal, but we'll see how she plays.
I pulled a lot from the Shifter race from Ebberon, as well as the official Transformers RPG by Renegade Games, which is a pretty robust RPG in its own right, though a touch complicated for my tastes (maybe worth a System Spotlight in the future). Eventually, I would love to use this new version as a base for a beast mode T-Cog, and make a Cybertronian lineage that incorporates perhaps an even more simplified version of what I have now. Something to think about.
Anyway, that's it from me, hope y'all like the update! Stay safe, don't forget to love each other, and I'll see you next time.
