I’ve seen some really beautiful “butch because” posts, and although I’m not a butch, when my butch & I were out the other night - I had a real butch because moment, just watching him interact with some younger girls. So I thought id share.

We went away for a trip, yes. But we also attended the dinner that my sister held for her friends because it was her birthday. It was at this really loud, really not our scene kinda night club space, anyway he went with me so that I wouldn’t have to go alone and only know my sister (who was a lil intoxicated).

We were just sitting down, and at this point he had been so chivalrous already. This guy helped me into the venue up the stairs in my heels, pulled out my chair for me and then pushed it in.

I will be honest, I was a little worried, you never know how straight girls will be, let alone young straight girls - who have probably had very little interaction with butches and female masculinity, although the world is changing.

Anyways! So they all go to the bathroom (in groups, as you do). one of the girls (looks at my butch, not me)

“Can you keep this safe for me?”

I genuinely think he shed a tear. He looked so proud to be asked this.

Then one of the other girls goes

“Oh yeah, mine too, please!”

so be carefully moves all the drinks closer to him, all while keeping an arm around me. He does not take his eyes off of them for a second.

When they get back, he pushes them back over to each of the girls and they all thank him.

Butch because young women, all women but especially young women who are still learning how to keep themselves safe, can find safety in you - to protect and keep them safe.

I really cannot overemphasize how based it is that the dungeon meshi fanart community has collectively decided that Falin is fat. Truly a historic W for anime girl likers everywhere. We need to set this as a precedent for all future popular anime - if no women in the cast are fat, the artists must pick at least one of those characters and draw them fat with absolutely no explanation or justification provided. This must continue until the people who make anime realize what they're missing out on by not putting this shit in the source material.
