Never Love An Anchor - Prologue:

Luka Couffaine was drowning. months of plotting and rallying and carefully preparing, all gone down the great blue ocean, along with his body and soon, his soul.

and just as he is about to accept his fate, while closing his eyes and ceasing his struggle to stay afloat, he catches a glimpse of brilliant orange and shimmering teal, swimming his way quickly.

He awoke to a gorgeous face haloed by the glaring sun, with too many questions and not enough air in his lungs to ask any of them, he began coughing up saltwater.

“Oh, oh my. Are you alright? I'm not sure humans are supposed to do that. Not that I’ve really drowned any myself to know for sure…” The gorgeous face spoke with an equally lovely voice. So lovely, in fact, that it took Luka a second to process the disturbing nature of the sentence.

“What-“ he had to cough and heave and cough again before continuing breathlessly. “What are you?” But the question was redundant. He was saved from drowning by a beautiful woman with a melodious voice who, by her own admission, was expected to drown humans. something she herself was not.

His savior was a siren.

“Calm down, sailor. If I wanted you dead then I wouldn't have bothered saving you, now would I?” the beautiful siren reassured him.

“That’s not nearly as hopeful a sentiment as you believe it to be. After all, what could a siren want with a man that she keeps him alive for?” Luka found himself arguing against his favor in his anxiety.

“The only hunger I wish to satiate with you, sailor - “ the siren leaned in close with the top half of her body, honeyed voice laced with a dangerous edge, closing in on his waist and allowing the suggestive nature of her words to linger for only a moment before innocently submerging her body back in the water and completing her sentence, “is my curiosity!”

“Curiosity? Of what kind?” Luka asked, suspicious and still a bit flustered.

“Oh, just the healthy, intellectual kind.” She explained readily, smirking subtly at having riled him up so successfully over nothing. The other sirens thought her a boring prude, but she just made a sailor blush! “A seafaring man such as yourself, one I found drowning no less, surely has some stories to tell?” She finished her explanation, phrasing the ending more like an invitation, perhaps a request.

What could she say? She loved unraveling a good mystery.

“And what exactly is in it for me if I tell you my whole sad story? You getting entertainment at the expense of me reliving my trauma hardly sounds like a fair trade.” Luka shot back, now slightly more at ease despite his better judgment and bantering freely.

“What? Does my excellent companionship not suffice? You do realize I could've just left once I rescued you and you'd be all alone here for who knows how long. As I've said, I'm no human expert, but even I know you don't do well in isolation.” Her words had a teasing edge to them, something about her tone letting him know that leaving him behind and alone was never an option for her. He found himself feeling just as curious about her as she was about him.

“Be that as it may, I still feel like this isn't an equal exchange. So what if we came to an agreement?” Making a deal with any sort of magical creature was dangerous business, but the siren was right about one thing. It's not like he was going anywhere anytime soon, so he might as well take a chance.

Sabrina's smile widened in excitement and her tail splashed around in the water. “I'm listening…”

“Ask me a question about myself, and I will endeavor to answer to the best of my ability. Then, I ask you one of my many questions and you give me some much-needed answers about yourself. Does that sound acceptable?”

“hmmm… well, sailor, you drive a hard bargain. But I believe you've got yourself a deal!”

This is why my ideal kwami shuffle in this situation goes;

Sabrina -> Felix -> Kagami -> Sabrina.

Felix gets to be Flairmidable and use his power without having an existential crisis, Kagami gets to be in truly in charge of her own fate and being and is encouraged to express her feelings, and Sabrina gets another choker miraculous (less important I just think chokers are cool) except this one is a lot less dehumanizing for her and with Longg being the perfection kwami he'd help her reach her full potential, because there is so much good in her buried under insecurity and codependency.

yes the peacock miraculous obviously needs to be felix's and is extremely significant to him and there's so much poetry about the fact that he is the holder of the very miraculous that created him and him being the holder of it is deeply entrenched into the plot. HOWEVER.

sometimes i miss the cat!adrien vs dog!felix dynamic. because it was really fucking funny

Amour Chiot, aka Puppy Love, is a hero who's main job is getting people out of harm's way. She can fight just as well as anyone else on the team, but she uses those skills mainly to protect civilians and less to focus on taking down the Akuma.

Fixed your shitty canon implications, You're Welcome Astruc:

"The dog's tool should have been a boomerang!" this or "The dog's tool should have been a Frisbee" that

yeah yeah, whatever, the dog miraculous tool should have been a whistle.

And rather than Fetch, the power should've been Walk, the ability to direct a target to get in line and walk behind you. The difference between the Bee's subjection, forcing your will onto others, and the dog's admiration, inspiring people to follow after you. Aside from being an obvious reference to dogwalking, it also references training dogs via dog whistles but flips it so the "dog" in this case is the one with the whistle, as well as the fact dogs, despite being quite far removed from their wolf ancestors, are still pack animals.

(Just watched Penalteam) I can’t tell if it’s a waste of time or not cause a lot happened but a lot of it wasn’t very good. Why didn’t this episode focus on Sabrina? Why does she have to share the spotlight with four heroes? Because they didn’t introduce them beforehand? Well, it seems their tendency to waste time has caught up with them. Wow, this and Kuro seem to encapsulate the issues with the episodes as a whole this season, they even have Chloe acting out of character.

It's funny how the show wants to make a big deal about how poorly Sabrina is treated by Chloe, yet she never gets a focus episode to herself.

Her first akumatization into Vanisher? Only serves as a threat for the first half before Antibug comes along.

Her second akumatization into Vanisher? She gets de-evilized right before the big battle with all the heroes and akumas.

Her third akumatization into Miraculer? She only gets focus as Chloe's friend in an episode focusing on Chloe.

Her first appearance as Miss Hound? Like you said, she has to share the spotlight with three other heroes.

Her fourth akumatization into Vanisher? She's only a pawn in one of Lila's schemes, and the episode isn't even about her.

The point I'm trying to make is that the show really loves to screw over Sabrina whenever she's supposed to get focus like the other characters.

Re-verse Sabrina and Zoe / Multitask and Masquerade

Thank you so much for all the suggestions for their powers, you all really helped me out a lot! I ended up kind of merging a bunch of the most popular suggestions

Sabrina's powers are inspired by her having to juggle all her part-time jobs and responsabilities. As Multitask, she can create copies of herself and give them each one specific and simple task. The copies (she calls them dummies) will do all they can to complete the task and would poof away once the task is complete. The dummies are very proficient at the one task they're given, but are very stupid otherwise, and would constantly run into each other or walls if they're not properly instructed.

Masquerade can copy anyone's appearace and powers. She can also transfer the disguise to someone else. However, she can't mimic voices, and needs to have seen the person in the last 15 minutes in order to turn into them. She's very useful when fighting the miraculous holders because she can copy all of their abilities. She could also turn into Gabriel and kamikotize one additional hero, so she's definitely one of the most useful assets of the Resistence.

Next up are probably Kim and Max. Max is already done, I just have to brainstorm Kim's powers.

Oooo here's a fun idea for Sabrina! She works multiple jobs in this universe, right? So she's probably used to having to do everything herself but she's only one person so that can get exhausting pretty quick and I can imagine at one point her being just so fed up with it, but seeing as how badly her family got hurt by the Supreme she knows she lives in a eat or be eaten world, so she can't really bring herself to accept help from anyone. But Hesperia sends a Kamiko and says he just wants to give her the ability to keep helping herself.

And so if Obscura is the reverse of Reflekta and kind of her own version of Vanisher, then Sabrina should get the reverse of Vanisher and her own version of Reflekta, giving her the ability to project not just her image onto others, but her thoughts directly into their minds, allowing them to know what she knows and see what she sees.

This is a choice she gives everyone, and all who join share this hivemind like connection with her, allowing her to guide civilians away from danger and amass a mob of people willing to fight who can move as a unit, raising an army out of nowhere.

And as a bonus, I can definitely see her being Queen Bee's nemesis, proving that you can lead by example and not just by force.

If we really wanna make a Queen Bee parallel one name I thought of was Honey Swarm but that might be too silly.

Anyway that's my pitch for Sabrina, not too sure about Zoe as that's not my area of expertise lol.

Re-verse Rose and Juleka / Doctor Joy and Obscura

I'm finally getting around to designing Kamiko forms for the rest of the resistence!

Gabriel was initially very hesitant to send Rose into battle due to her illness, but she was very persistant and determined. As Doctor Joy, Rose basically becomes the group's healer. She can cure simple injuries and also any "status effects" caused by magic like Chloe's venom. However, she's only able to cure someone if she's able to make physical contact with them

Obscura can turn herself invisible at will, alongside turning any object she's holding invisible as well. She can also temporarily blind an opponent for around a minute.

Given what this blog is for I'd be remiss not to point out that Roger's canonical rank on the force has been stated in canon to be Captain which is likely how Sabrina knows Chloe in the first place since their dads would work pretty closely together so yeah, pretty big deal.

Chloe - daughter of the literal fucking mayor and a celebrity (i cant care enough to remember what her mom does)

Adrien - model and son of (apparently) Paris' only fashion designer (have you seen any other posters with other models in that show? Yeah, me neither)

Marinette - daughter of the owners of a very well known bakery (we're not even gonna mention how many contests she's won, and my girl designed an album cover for jagged stone, but thats out of topic)

Alya - daughter of the chef who works in the mayor's hotel

Sabrina - daughter of a police officer (idk about police ranks and shit but i'll bet my ass he makes a good amount of money)

Juleka - daughter of Jagged Stone (if he pays child support, there's no way a rock star like him is giving little money to raise his children) (oh yeah and THEY LIVE IN A FUCKING BOAT. That cant be cheap)

Alix - daughter of a guy who is in charge of most things at THE LOUVRE (he works there, and it seems like that to me)

Mylene - her dad starred in a movie, i am pretty sure thats not something that happens every day

Zoe - again, step daughter of the mayor, daughter of a celebrity

Kagami - i'm not sure what her mom does but the point is she's rich (i love kagami so much but i havent watched mlb for years and im only getting back to it now, what kagami's mom does is not important)

Thats as far as my memory goes, i don't know if we've seen the rest of the class' family

Plus, i think at least 2 celebrities have been to their school one day or another, i could be wrong tho
