It's great that you're able to help! I feel ashamed for being useless in this tragedy, but apart from sending money (which I do), I litteraly have no spare time to give at the moment.

I need to clarify my volunteering is mainly online work - working as an admin in groups, gathering and spreading information and so on. And the reasons for it are also somewhat selfish - the overall situation made me so anxious and sick inside I just needed to do something. Do not ever be ashamed, every person who cares is important!

All the spare time I’ve got (which is not much really) has been lately used to fight for general humanity in the ongoing refugee crisis happening in Europe.  It’s just basic organising and volunteer work, nothing special -  but I feel wonderful, since it helps me to ignore the immense racism, bigotry and heartlessness of some of my countrymen. I feel somewhat guilty since - DARK CONFESSION ALERT - I might even prefer gen TD fic over good old-fashioned smut, even though I ship our two motherfuckers till eternity and enjoy all the quality writing tremendously.  It’s a mystery. Never happened to me before. I blame my all-consuming obsession for Rust and the huge blank spaces the canon left us with.  Of course there might be a general lack of fic in the fandom (not sure since my reading list is million miles long, another source of guilt and regret there) but aint this uncanny existence of person-centric gen fic in TD fandom quite a special thing? I wish the situation was the same in some other smallish fandoms I frequent, where my main interest lies in the characters and their inner worlds, not in ships (although I’ve nothing against a healthy dose of porn every now and then). Another source of guilt is of course that my angsty threesome porn opera is still in the making. I’m genuinely frightened of writing that kind of shit (not because PORN but because Adult Hugs™ are something you have to get just right and operating in foreign language makes the task even harder). And I’ve got a bucketful of all kind of kinks and prompts I could start to fill myself if I’d just manage to gt my shit together and write, dammit. 

Dammit!

seventeen months in this fandom now, and if I took out every fic of mine and hartcohle’s (which I beta read in advance for her and vice versa, truly hardly anything is a genuine surprise anymore) with Serious Adult Content we’d be left with [[[counts really quick on fingers]]]…….about three or four post-Carcosa Rust/Marty fics that don’t fade out or jump ship after the first kiss or touch. THREE OR FOUR. that is not an exaggeration.

Frank was my fave. :( I knew he was doomed, and I accept it because this season's resolution was the price of Rust & Marty surviving last season. Nic P wasn't going to suffer a happy(ish) ending twice....

hell yes, the s2 mindfucked me in the way that the character i felt the most sympathetic was a criminal with a typical dad sense of humour, fuck you pizz.well, not rlly sympathetic, just shaking my head the least at author's choices for the character

The major Pizzolatto mindfuck for season 2 was (for me, at least) Frank. First you’re lolling sympathetically at the woody acting, wacky dialogue and basically everything about the character; come ep 8 you’re like  YAAAASS HE’S LIKE EIGHT FEET TALL AND DOESNT GIVE A FUCK HE SETS EVERYBODY’S SHIT ON FIRE HAS THE COOLEST HENCHMAN EVER AND DIES OVER A FUCKING SUIT IN THE DESERT

Although it was more tragic than season one, it didn’t feel as dark or as deep to me.

really well put Gabrielle! Apropos tragedies: The 2nd season delivered an overall Greek feeling. I reckon this would have happened if Ani’s real name was Anita instead of Antigone. All this obsession about who’s fathered who, the themes of revenge and descent into underworld and trying to fight the will of gods and so on. I’ve been suspecting there’s a parallel story or myth somewhere but haven’t figured it out yet
