SAVANNAH ⟶ JORDAN
J: how is that even related to what you said
J: good, though
S: my mind works in mysterious ways.
S: so descriptive, wow.

“Yeah, you’re right. But you always said I use my phone too much ‘cause I’m a mellenial and all of that. So that’s why I came over to show you that you mean more to me than just a text or phone call. And you’re right, I should know that you have other things going on in your life. I’m not asking you to drop everything, I was just hoping I could come by and see you on your break.” Imogen said, feeling somewhat defensive..
It was a very long winded response and she hadn’t meant for it to get so rambly but the other woman really made her heart flutter more so than she’d ever met before. “I uh, God. I don’t know why I’m talking so much.” Usually Imogen was way more smooth but there was something about being in her lovers presence that made her secound guess everything.
All right, yes, okay. She had said that. But it wasn’t simply because Imogen was a millennial, it was because whatever time she spent on her phone when they were together was time taken away from them. Lauren had thought she explained it, but apparently not well enough. Maybe it was her fault, getting involved with someone so much younger. Someone so different. It was hard for each of them to understand where the other was coming from most of the time. “Hey, it’s fine, okay?” Lauren moved over to Imogen and pushed up on her toes to give her a gentle kiss as she rested a hand against her cheek. “Calling to see if I’m busy is more than acceptable.”

Her fingers started poking at the comforter as she waited for him to say anything. She didn’t know what else to say. Tess glanced back up at Austin as he re-entered the room. Her immediate reaction to his words was a shrug. “It’s just like–home.” Okay, that wasn’t helpful. “Like…” she trailed off for a moment. “it’s safe, you know?” Her nose wrinkled. She didn’t think she was doing a great job at explaining what she was thinking at all. And part of it was because what she was thinking seemed incredibly long term. And it was too early for that. “And…what if you don’t like it? Or don’t like my parents?”
Austin nodded slowly, not entirely sure what part of home being safe was meant to be scary... but then the other shoe dropped and things clicked into place. He couldn’t promise he was going to like where she grew up, but it was a safe bet. There weren’t many places he didn’t like. “What if they don’t like me?” he countered with a shrug. “I like you, so I’m gonna like where you came from. And, y’know, from what I’ve already heard about your parents I’m sure I’ll like them too.” He sat down on the end of the bed and took her hand into his. “It’s not something you should be worried about. In the end all that matters is we care about each other.”
