In this hype-fuelled rap-osphere, over-saturated with sub-par spitters in swag chains and ‘very rare’ forehead labels, differentiation costs 2 pounds of futility. Like Volvos in a rat race to the Aston show grounds  under the oblivion that bravado was enough fuel to cross the desert.

Where do you find an artisan who’s lyrically explicit, with effortless flowing wordplay? Backed by Ruqkqus’ 3Star on the emceeing, up and coming spitter Surafel turns up the revelry after his resonating debut performance at Trill.

Discovery of the love for rap came at the pint age of 9, growing up in a family of four and being the oldest, Surafel realised his passion for music from reading rhymes in primary school, later going on to writing his own. 3Star discovered the talent’s unique flow after his search in structuring an entertainment collaborative, embodying management for musicians, DJ’s, and models. Forming a cohort of visionaries portraying hip hop culture in Melbourne, Surafel was later managed by Ruqkqus Entertainment.

Following his debut at Trill, he closed the show for Deejay and FL Smiley at Area Codes, the audience honed in on two things. An impossible to replicate impression, and a lingering question. ‘Who’s this new sound?’

In celebration of Stormy Coleman’s birthday at Warehouse, Tetris Studios held an open mic invitation with the esteemed Outlawz making an appearance. Surafel taking to the mic left pin-drop silence as onlookers raise their brows, side-eyeing his nonchalant stage exit.

In a corner, Noble taps 3Star on the shoulder, ‘Is that your boy? Are you the manager?’ Closing the deal, he announced a request for Surafel to open the Tupac tribute and Outlawz show at Trak Lounge.

Ensuing the lock-down of this gig, Surafel opened as the first slice on the silver platter of formidable performances with the Ruqkqus crew Artist
