You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.

By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.

I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

As... difficult being a lancer can be, I will say it has allowed me to see all sorts of people I wouldn't see normally, whether they're by my side or the end of my sword. Just the other day I saw a terasanthrop running this small restaurant while I was doing a contract. The food itself wasn't anything special, but was beyond fascinating to see him prepare my meal without even moving a single muscle. - Casey 📷

Is there anywhere convenient for us to check out your records and info? Wanna see how you guys do in action before I put in a contract

Official online FreedLancer archives should have records on some contracts, though we might have less information compared to other lancers who've worked in sector 11. If you want more visual information though, I'm certain we've been filmed several times during fights, and Aesop has recently begun to stream during adventures.

Those only show when we're being loud and exciting. Plenty of quiet contracts, such as information gathering and delivery missions, go unrecorded. That's why I think, depending on what kind of contract you're going to send, talking to previous clients is a great method to check our qualifications. We mainly operate in sector 11, but we've worked inter-sector before, so it shouldn't be too hard to find someone who's worked with us.

I think too many people assume being a lancer is fun. They see the wild weapons we get to use and the flashy kills television likes to show and think its all excitement. It sometimes is, but even if the deaths didn't weigh on you, at least half of lancer work is logistics and financing. It's an environment built to foster insanity. But what peeves me the most is the view towards regenerators.

I keep hearing so many stories about what people would do if they couldn't die and think that a lancer's access to regenerator insurance means that they get to have as much fun as they want. I can tell you right now that death is never, and coming back from it is even worse. I want to describe it like having the hangover of everybody in the world at once, but I think even that doesn't do the feeling justice.

Too many people think being a lancer is fun. And it shows on the amount of people who try to pay contracts via exposure. I'm already going through hell daily, at least give me enough money to buy a burger. - Casey 📷

Me, personally? I think having a favourite condiment limits my culinary creativity. My favourite condiment is whatever works best for the dish. Though I will admit I think a good hot sauce brings a lot of dishes together. - Aesop 🕶️

Certainly an interesting first question. Lancers, or FreedLancers if you want to be clear, is a job title that describes people all around the world who work as hired adventurers for the FreedLancer Association. Due to them being so widespread I imagine it'd be impossible for all of the lancers in the world to have explored each other's bodies. But if you're talking about Rogue Wave specifically, then I will admit I do know my teammates bodies intently. You'd be surprised how often someone attempts to imitate them or shapeshift just to mess with us.
