I usually don't do redraws because I'm often still fond of my old art. And somehow when I try, I can't capture the charm of the original. But this. I was going through my old art and I was just like. I could do this better now. For sure. I also wasn't even so inside the characters at that point that they really lacked something inside. And to be fair this was one of my first CSP illustrations and I had been sketching digitally for just a few months in the first place. But wow! I don't think I mentioned it, but a year ago I got a new drawing tablet (XP Pen Deco LW) for Christmas and it's been a HUGE game changer. Who would have thought that a literally 15 year old drawing tablet really was holding me back all this time. And also found my fav CSP brush: I really love design pencil!

It's been three years since I revealed Pokémon Kaleidoscope and I'm happy to announce that I've finished writing the detailed outline of Part I, so the webcomic will be launching JULY 6TH of this year at 9 pm UTC +3! Updates will be full chapters every two months and about 16 pages.

Lona region is known for its Relay League that revolves around team-based Pokémon battles. This is a story of joys, hardships, dangers and teamplay as Jaylee and her new friends Aven, Kitt and Zue try reaching towards their goal of becoming the Champion Four of the Lona region.

Platforms will be Webtoon, tumblr and a comicfury hosted website, and I'll also post updates with links on twitter. There's not gonna be a fast pass or other paid early updates, Pokémon Kaleidoscope fan comic will always be free to read online for everyone at the same time.

And here's my art summary for 2023! Below the cut are the art that I drew earlier but didn't publish yet or only published on discord. Believe it or not I did draw a fuckton of art this year but most of it has been prep work for Kaleidoscope, so. ^^'

April's art is the design for young Jaylee! About 7 or 8 years old iirc?

May's art is a panel from an early Kaleidoscope chapter featuring Jaylee. Crossed arms used to be an incredibly hard thing for me to draw so I'm happy I finally understand how they work!

September's art is new OCs Mette and Niki that were going to be for an about 20 pages one-shot comic I was planning to draw and sell if I didn't get employed after my job trial thing ended. But I did get a job, so I don't know when I'm going to draw it now. But I want to because I already made an outline and everything! It was going to be an urban fantasy involving a frozen sidewalk puddle and set in Helsinki.

October's art is for specord fight and is an OC designed by DawnDrawsSome and named Miriam. This one is actually made with a technique where I drew the lineart on pc and printed it with pigment ink on the art paper and then colored it traditionally!

Last art of the year! I wonder what was going through Black's mind as he fell to the Dream World after being sealed in the Light Stone. I think the scenery he was met with was not the worst thing that he was expecting.

I started this waaaay earlier this year then I kinda forgot about it after I colored the background because it felt like a pretty big challenge haha. But I'm glad I could finish it!

It's Specord's annual gala art event again! This year the theme was "5 years" as it is the fifth anniversary of this event. I got to design for Falkner this year and themed together with kris and her Janine. We chose to do a mirroring around traditional and modern parts of our designs.

And here's more about my piece:

As part of this year’s gala’s theme, I looked back at both previous gala entries for Falkner and his own past, as well as explored the shared experience of succeeding their fathers with Janine.

I wanted to carry on the tradition of Falkner going with traditional Japanese clothing to the gala, and to also reference his career as a police officer five years prior to HGSS. Thus I chose the formal dress that samurai used in the past - the kamishimo - as the base for the design. As part of theming with Janine, part of the outfit is a modern suit since Falkner represents traditionality whereas his father is a man of modernity. I also chose to feature Falkner’s third Pokémon Skarmory since his two other Pokémon have shined in the gala in the past. His father also happens to own a Skarmory, so the kamishimo’s pattern features two Skarmory going neck to neck.

For our newest specord event called "Fairytales and Folklore", I drew a piece for Lack-Two based on the Scottish folklore of the water kelpie.

In the past days of Crown Tundra, there lived an Alpha Keldeo that people called the water kelpie. It was known to lure children on its back on the shores of lakes. But once the children touched it, their hand would get stuck and Keldeo would dive deep underwater, and the children were never to be seen again. A young lad named Lack-Two has found himself being dragged down to depths... But maybe he can still make it, who knows?
