Edit Note: I'm really amazed by how much love this post got. Guess it just shows we're all in the same boat. I do have other humorous writing memes on this tumblr under the same tag, if you're interested. Never give up writing! ❤️
Edit Note 2: I can't believe this has reached 4000 notes. Been on tumblr for almost ten years (different account) and nothing like this has ever happened before. Thank you! 😊

IC's general overreaction of Nesta is stupid af.
I don’t understand why the narrative/IC tries to portray Nesta as this killing machine (even before the training) that they have to walk on egg shells around like she'll explode and slaughter them all purposefully whilst simultaneously being dicks. Like, not everyone is going to be immediate best friends with fae they were brought up to fear coming into their lives and changing it forever without a slick of protection. Not everyone is going to be so nice when randomly being antagonised by strangers over a one-sided sob story. Who the hell would like to remain in a place where they know they're not welcome and just take snide comments that her own sister allows and hardly reprimanded or corrects?
Like, Nesta treats everyone the same and then acts accordingly depending on their behaviour and actions towards her. You want to snap, she'll snap back. You have something sly to say, prepare for a lashing. You give common decency, and you get the same in return. She's not complicated.
She doesn't go around randomly beating people up, destroying mountains in arguments, ruining other courts or killing people as that seems to be the coping mechanism for the IC. She doesn't go throwing her power around and forcibly asserting dominance. It's how they act, so they believe she'll lash out just as violently, when in reality, she'd rather keep to herself if she can.
The only times she's killed anyone was when they were trying to kill her or were an immediate threat. The King of Hybern, the Kelpie, the Illyrian’s during the blood rite she was trapped in, Briallyn, the Asteri. All unavoidable. All necessary for her survival.
Like, their fears are so over the top and matches nothing of Nesta's character. She's not blood thirsty. She'd sooner give you a verbal lashing than a physical one even before her powers.
In truth, they simply fear her power. They know she doesn't bow to them. That alone brings uncertainty and unease as something uncontrollable, and Rhysand and Co. hates her for that, I'm sure. Hates that she has an unexplainable power. Hates that she controls the Troves. Hates that she can *make* weapons. And would probably hate that the Mother spoke to her if they knew. They see her moreso as a weapon than a person and if they were smart enough, they would have befriended her faster than trying to dominate and I'd hope, make an enemy out of her because the IC do the most for no reason and then act shocked at the result from others perception of them.
It's like they want a self-fulfilling prophecy. Out here manifesting Nesta's villain arc and honestly, I'd be here for it just to see more characters put them in their place and someone breaking free from the IC shackles.

Guys I’m genuinely tweaking on how Feyre didn’t learn how to read. She had tutors etc, and I doubt any of her family paid attention to her because Nesta says “I would have taught you if I had known” not an exact quote but basically, and Feyre was like “you wouldn’t” but they were pretty rich for a while so she should have know and the audacity of her to say that like GIRL MAYBE TELL SOMEONE.

Have y’all notice that in canon, everyone who meets Nesta that isn’t tied to the IC likes her? Just me?

SJM discarding Tamlin’s character to make way for boring, manipulative 'shadow daddy' Rhysand with thick author bias armour. I'm sick.
I wish some hyenas would come and eat Rhysand like they did scar.
[Scar is far more interesting than Rhysand and actually stands on business.]

Like, where else is he meant to sit? On the floor like a good boy? As if he should bow to them in his own Court or anywhere else for that matter. 🙄 If Tarquin wasn't so sweet I'd want him to drowned them on land because is she dense? He is the head and you are the guests. I'd say have some respect, but they came to his court, lied, manipulated, and robbed him.
Feyre needs to get out more. She's far too entrapped with the NC to truly believe everyone else in Prythian is somehow below the IC.
“Yes, you mentioned that in your letter,” Tarquin said, claiming the seat at the head of the table between Rhys and Amren. A bold move, to situate himself between two such powerful beings. Arrogance—or an attempt at friendship?
Bitch, he’s a High Lord and that’s his fucking HOME?

Damn, the IC basically saying, "Well, shit...sucks to be you. Anyway...💅"
could you imagine being a little girl growing up in hewn city and Mor’s in charge and you hear about her engagement and her escape and you think finally someone understands what’s happening to me and there’s proof that you can get out that things can get better and not only that but she’s in charge!! the high lord’s third in command and she’s the queen of hewn city, he said so. surely she will do something. surely she understands how you feel. and then being sent off to your forced marriage and all she does is show up every time and intimidate people as nothing more than the high lord’s lackey and then everything stays the same for a hundred years. then two hundred. then three…

About the political power of Rhys and the IC
When we think about it, being in Rhysand's IC means that they have less political powers than his opponents. Because firstly, the IC always agree with whatever Rhysand is saying, and if they don't, too bad, because he won't listen to them. And secondly, they don't even do anything of importance as a government/political body.
However, if we speak about a Illyrian Lord or Keir (and the CoN's residents he represents), then Rhys must negociate with them and absolutely can't be on their bad side, and so he allows them to abuse their position and their powers on those weakers than them, and to perpetuate harmful traditions.
Rhys is a bad ruler. He can only enforce his authority on people who already agree with him (or, if they don't agree, won't do anything about it). His opponents don't respect him (see the Illyrians who don't respect the clipping ban) and still, Rhys respects them more than his own friends.
(Hello Mor, how do you feel about regularly seeing your abusive father in Velaris' street because Rhys couldn't be respected as a ruler ? Are you feeling respected, powerful and like your place as the Night Court 3rd (4th if we count Feyre) is anything more than a pretty title than Rhys gave you just because ?)
I feel like Rhysand doesn't understand that being a High Lord means you have responsabilities. It doesn't mean that you can micromanage the lives of your close friends/family circle. It means that you have a country to rule. Like, one of the first decisions Rhys made as a High Lord (beside appointing his friends in his government, because that's exactly how a government should be formed) is to give the right to the CoN to rule themselves. NO ! Please for the love of god that's not how you should rule. No wonder they don't respect Rhysand and feel like he is intruding in their business everytime he goes there. Technically speaking, that's exactly what he is doing. Because he gave them the right to rule themselves. Urgh.
And for the Illyrians, does Rhys think that having a ban on wings clipping is going to be enough ? The real work is on changing mentalities. No wonder "change takes time" when you aren't doing anything to initiate the change. Especially when you don't do a thing to punish those who break the law.
I suspect all these people disrespecting and hating Rhysand has nothing to do with him being half-Illyrian, half-High Fae, nor with him being "feminist" or "progressive" ; and all about him being a lazy, arrogant ass who hasn't done a single day of ruling in his whole life.

Just an FYI to the avid Rhysand/IC stans: It is completely possible for a bad person to good things, and a good person to do bad things. It's possible for someone to be a victim of abuse, and an abuser themselves. "Rhysand suffered for his people and deserves all the love" or "Rhysand has a need for control because of his trauma utm," is unbelievable.
Yes, I will acknowledge Rhysand is a victim of SA. I will acknowledge that he had good intentions when protecting Velaris, saving Mor, and fighting Hybern in two wars. However, being a victim doesn't excuse your actions when you abuse others. Under no circumstances does his trauma excuse not telling Feyre about the risk to her life with her pregnancy, or threatening to kill Nesta for no real reason honestly.
You could argue that he had good intentions and didn't want to cause Feyre any stress, just like he had good intentions when stealing Tarquin's book (that he never gave back), or protecting only one third of his court (assuming that the NC is comprised of Velaris, The HC, and Illyria exclusively,) and perhaps he even had good intentions when he tried to make that bargain with Feyre (I seriously doubt it though). However, bad consequences to bad actions that have good intentions DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT make those bad actions okay.
No matter how good Rhysand's intentions were in hiding Velaris, people in Illyrian and the HC suffered under Amarantha's reign. No matter how good his intentions were, Nesta was stuck with her toxic, abusive, stalker in the HOW along with a coward who stood by and watched her get abuse against her will until she was mentally broken. No matter how good his intentions, people still got hurt. People still died.
The families of the murdered children probably don't care what his intentions are. I sincerely doubt the people of HC or Illyria care how good his intentions are. It doesn't matter how good his intentions were when he met with the mortal queens, because Nesta and Elain still got hurt, practically murdered, and put back together again before being forced into a life they didn't want. Lucien clearly didn't care about his intentions when he was brought to The NC. He only backed down when he was threatened.
So I'll say this one more time. Louder for the people in the back: GOOD INTENTIONS DON'T MAKE THE BAD CONSEQUENCES INCONSEQUENTIAL ALL OF A SUDDEN!
