Really nice, I'm glad the ship is taking off :D
I wonder what Isaac would think about the monsters in the Highlands. I always struggle with the Highlands a lot more than with the Badlands, since monsters can hide behind bushes and attack suddenly. And they camouflage too. Isaac is used to fight in the open area of the desert, would he have the same problem?
ideas you wanted ideas I deliver
that heart event where Lance is like, "wanna accompany me while I work in the Badlands?" But instead of the farmer, he asks Isaac because he needs someone to "watch his back", he really doesn't, he just wants Isaac to spend a day off work but the man refuses to take any vacation
I think Lance was talking about it in Highlands, not Crimson Baldlans. On the other hand, why not describe Badlands too?
Thank you for this fluff idea and enjoy!☺️🫰
"Right behind you"
________________________________________
"Such amazing landscapes... put me in a dreamy thoughts."
Isaac didn't understand what kind of "dreamy thoughts" could be set by the crimson horizon and endless sandstorm, where monsters from the darkest depths were swarming. Maybe, for example, mighty snow-capped mountains, or a calm peaceful green meadow covered with flowers of different shapes and colors - he can see the beauty and greatness in something like this. But here? This view at the Crimson Baldlans post is just sad and depressing. But Lance apparently knew better.
"And what do you dream about? About busty women and where to get drunk?"
The scarred adventurer's comment made Lance chuckle a little. But it wasn't mostly because of Isaac's rather peculiar sense of humor, but the fact that, having been a couple for about a year now, he hadn't stopped hiding his soft spot behind a crude mask of indifference and cold-bloodedness even in front of Lance.
"My oh my," Lance hummed, turning his violet eyes straight into a pair of Isaac's dark, anthracite eyes. "I don't recall you being the jealous type."
In the past, Isaac would have furrowed his eyebrows at his pink-haired lover's attempt to tease him, but it had become such a routine for them that now Isaac just rolled his eyes. In another exchange of barbs, it was a draw for these two.
"While such a view may, and deservedly so, be repulsive, I find Crimson Baldlans mesmerising in its own way." Lance once again directed his gaze to the horizon, watching the infernal sun slowly fade into the sunset.
"I've seen enough of that already. And..." Isaac's voice became half a tone quieter and his dark eyes filled with sadness, "when I look at the Badlands, all I see are their faces..."
Lance looked at him sympathetically. Seeing Isaac so vulnerable and grief stricken was painful. The ghosts of his fallen comrades still haunted him, and he still berated himself for failing to protect them. Well, Lance can't afford for his partner to go back to being in pain, can he? And it's better to start with a change of scenery.
"Well, then I suggest you enjoy some other, equally breathtaking view. Besides, I was going to ask for your help on my patrol anyway."
"How is it that the great second-in-command of the First Slash Clan and hero of noble bloods can't handle a couple of slimes in the woods?" Anything to take his mind off the intrusive thoughts and faces of dead adventurers, anything, get him out of here, this is unbearable, anything...
"I wouldn't call them an inconsequential problem. The monsters there are quite a threat, they are stronger and more ferocious than their counterparts in the Mines. There's a one particular monster at the top of Highlands that we've called 'The Bully'. And if you're interested, you can come with me and find out why."
Both men stood silent for half a minute before Isaac finally said: "Alright. Let's go." Lance smiled softly.
"Take my hand. And no need to make that face, dear," the gallant adventurer laughed slightly as his dark-haired lover rolled his eyes again.
It was one thing to teleport yourself to the right place with a totem, and quite another to feel the threads of someone else's magic surrounding you for a moment.
Lance was right - the forest area in the Highlands was truly mesmerising and alive.
"Ah, now that's a view..." Lance took a deep breath of fresh air, enjoying the light breeze of the spring wind.
"...Yeah, really beautiful." Isaac's gaze, though, was directed at Lance himself, who was distracted by considering the terrain.
"I meant the scenery, my dear."
Or not so distracted.
Isaac immediately decided to change the subject, feeling his cheeks flush slightly at the realisation that Lance had caught his gaze. "So are we going after your 'Bully' or not?"
"This way," the pink-haired man's smile grew even bigger, and he strode forward down the familiar path while Isaac walked behind him.
Whoever this Bully is, he wouldn't dare touch Lance, Isaac thought, keeping up with his lover and occasionally grumbling at the thick bushes that were always snagging his already battered cloak.

This is really sweet, but poor Roo...

Rousseau, mostly known as 'Roo', is my Farmer/OC for the game Stardew Valley + Expanded. Alesia is an (as of now, non-friendable) NPC from the mod, 'Expanded'! I have not yet drawn Roo nor Alesia often, but we have a gist starting story of the two and how they were separated because I am feeling melancholy so I love a good angst of my boy, Roo! :)
⚠ Yes, this is an OC x Canon, so please leave/scroll away if this is not what you like. Thank you.

Roo met Alesia long before she moved away from the valley, and the two have been training buddies since then. Roo had been secretly in love with Alesia for a long time, but he never dared to confess his feelings to her.
Finally, the day had come when he decided to take the plunge and confess everything. He wrote a beautiful love letter and arranged to meet her to express his feelings at where the two would usually hang out with each other; their secret spot...
However, as fate would have it, Alesia had some exciting news of her own to share with Roo on the same day. She had been accepted into Castle Village as a resident, which was a dream come true for her especially now that she had always felt out of place in the valley and longed for a place she could call home, and she had already told Roo about this. Although Roo was happy for her, he couldn't help but feel a little heartbroken at the same time. He had always hoped that Alesia would stay with him, but seeing her so happy to live in Castle Village, he could never ask her to stay for his sake. Roo nodded and smiled, congratulating Alesia on her success and acceptance, dismissing his true intention when Alesia, in return, asked him what was his part of their exchanged news with his usual "I forgot" and a smile.
β€œThe love letter he had written for her remained unopened and unread. Roo took it back with him, and it remained a bittersweet reminder of the love he had for Alesia, which he could never express.”
[ END... ]

I like hurting Roo's feelings for some reason... out of all of my OCs, he's the one I enjoy hurting the most, mentally. It shows his character and how strong he is as he grows despite his true feeling hidden underneath that smile of his. The burden he carries... Man, I love him.
When I'm feeling melancholic, I think of Roo... His story is mostly about 'isolation and abandonment', haha.

I just now found this, it's perfect! Lance just can't understand how he ended up having to parent a fully grown man.
I love how we all collectively agreed that Isaac does nothing but complain whenever he's with Lance or the farmer.
just some of Lance heart events, but instead of the farmer is Isaac, SPECIALLY THE 10 HEART ONE LIKE??? just a "there was only one bed" between those two could be funny (even spicy if you want to)
Tumblr media
Only one bed.... Hmmmm... 🌚
Tumblr media
Oh yeah, Lance definitely mentioned it in Cinema.
But... Why can't he get stuck in a blizzard again? And with the company? 🌚
One winter night...
**********************************************
The frosty wind was about to blow open the outpost's front door, which Isaac opened just slightly, but the adventurer quickly slammed it shut, abandoning his attempts to check the weather. Isaac didn't want to acknowledge reality in any way, tried to think of some plan, to find a way out of a rather awkward situation.
"I told you there would be blizzard all night," Lance yawned tiredly, and began unbuttoning his cloak. "Winter in the Stardew Valley is pretty harsh, and in the Highlands even more so. So the right thing to do is to wait out the bad weather."
Isaac hated it when Lance was right. Fantastic, he thought. Stuck here, because of a stupid snow, with no way to teleport home and no materials to make a teleport totem. And as luck would have it - Lance had forgotten all his magic crap that could transport them out of this freezing hell, in Castle Village.
"No need to make that face, my impatient friend. The weather should be calm tomorrow, and we can get back to the Adventurer's Guild." Lance walked over to the supply crate and opened the wooden box. "I'll make you some food since you haven't had time to eat before-"
"I'm not hungry," Isaac sat down at the chair near the desk and continued to drill his gaze to the door as if his steely glare would make all the bad weather outside go away without delay.
Lance sighed heavily. "As you say," he closed back the lid of the box, walked over to his bed and began to prepare it for sleep.
Finished making the bed, the pink-haired adventurer stared at his sullen colleague.
"Thought you were going to bed already."
"I'm already prepared, in case you can't see," Isaac replied dryly, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning back against the chair harder, adopting a semi-reclining posture.
Is he serious about sleeping in a chair?
"This bed is big, in case you can't see, there's enough room for the two of us. Especially since you're my guest." A stubborn and ill-mannered guest, Lance wanted to add, but seeing the dark-haired adventurer's already terrible mood, decided tactically to remain silent. If only in favour of preserving his own nerves.
"You aristocrats-weakling may sleep in comfortable beds until noon, but real adventurers-"
"Enough of that." Lance didn't let him finish his sarcastic remark that he heard from Isaac every damn time they went on a mission together. He's so sick of this stupid claim, as if Lance chose to be born in a family of famous monster hunters! He is well aware that many of his acquaintances and other people from noble families behaved among people of lower status not too noble, at least. But it's unfair to assume everyone is completely bad and just because one arrogant and spoilt fool has wronged you somehow in the past. What in the world does status have to do with it? It's just common courtesy and hospitality. Besides, no one wants to feel such pain in the morning from an uncomfortable position.
"Isaac," Lance rubbed his right temple with the fingers, hoping the growing headache would subside, "you can't sleep in a chair."
Isaac sat motionless for half a minute, then deigned to rise from the old chair. Lance breathed a sigh of relief, glad that his colleague had finally heard the voice of reason. But that joy quickly faded away when the dark-haired monster hunter picked up his old, shabby brown cloak, spread it out on the floor, and lay down on the fabric, making his hiking bag a pillow.
"That's not what I meant." Yoba give him strength, Isaac is just messing with him!
"Go to bed and stop making noise," Lance may not hear the laughter or the sarcasm in Isaac's voice, but he could swear he was probably enjoying the whole thing.
Lance took a deep breath... And a slightly strained smile appeared on his face. The same one he usually bestows on an unpleasant interlocutor, or when he's plotting something...
"Are you still embarrassed by that body-swapping incident that you're still so afraid of my presence?" Lance had promised he wouldn't bring up that unpleasantness to Isaac, but he still decided to get a little revenge on his colleague for the frayed nerves this night.
It didn't take long for Isaac to react: he opened his eyes wide and stared at Lance with his trademark cold stare that was even colder than the frost outside.
"Shut. Up." It was all Isaac said, not wanting to waste any more words.
"Look," Lance began, "I'm not too fond of this situation either, but you know very well yourself that sleeping on a cold hard floor where there's sure to be a huge chance of catching a cold isn't a smart idea. Why don't we wait out this night in a proper bed? And if my presence bothers you that much, I can give you the whole bed."
"Then I just don't see any other explanation for your strange behaviour. I'm not going to bite you~" honestly, Lance would have continued to argue with him, but he didn't want to spoil an already slightly strained relationship any further.
So he raised his hand in a showy gesture, offering Isaac a truce.
Isaac looked straight into Lance's violet eyes, trying to see a catch or any hint that he was joking. But Lance sounded sincere, and his face only showed the slight irritation of having to talk a grown man to lie down into a proper bed. Without a word, Isaac picked up his cloak and backpack from the floor, threw them on a chair, and began unbuttoning his sweatshirt.
Finally, Lance thought, and nodded gratefully to Isaac without breaking the silent agreement.
...................................
A hundred celestial lights, as if they were beautiful diamonds, adorned the night sky. Isaac lay on a small slope and felt the sharp tips of grass run through his fingers. Fireflies were everywhere, everything was imbued with peace and tranquility.
"A beautiful night, don't you think, my dear?" Isaac wasn't at all surprised by Lance lying next to him, as if he had been here all along. The pink-haired man looked at him with such tenderness, with such love.
Lance twisted towards him, rising slightly on his elbows, his face slowly coming closer to Isaac's face.
"But not as beautiful as you." Their lips were already so close, Isaac could already feel someone else's breath and the look of violet eyes...
...................................
As if doused with icy water, Isaac woke up quickly and sat in bed for a minute, letting the dream settle down.
Dream... or nightmare? Definitely nightmare.
Rays of light coming through the slits of the outpost's door and silence outside let him know that the long awaited morning had arrived. The scarred adventurer turned his head to the right and saw Lance still asleep, snoring quietly, on his side of the bed.
Overwhelmed with still incomprehensible and unnecessary feelings, Isaac thought of nothing better than to throw his pillow right at Lance's head. Naturally, the gallant man rose instantly from such a rude awakening. He was expecting a threat or monster attack, not his colleague who had so unceremoniously decided to wake him up.
"It's morning already. Time to get ready." Unfortunately, Isaac couldn't see the "what's your problem?!" look on Lance's face, because grumpy adventurer didn't want to show to Lance the slight blush on his cheeks that definitely couldn't be blamed on the cold air.

Villain AU - farmer and Lance being on opposite teams while still crushing on each other
Imagine Joja acting more like a villain in comic books/manga/children shows (vague inspiration for this has been Team Rocket). Wants to take over the world, will use monsters and dark magic as distractions while they carry out their plans, maybe they want to steal magical artifacts or take over areas with strong magic or enslave magical creatures like the junimo. They could still have their normal business as a legal front and the main money maker for their ideas.
For whatever reason the farmer still works at Joja, and for this AU it's not a temporary thing. Why the farmer works there? Maybe only Joja would hire them and they were late on rent, or maybe they needed to pay for college, or they signed some sort of magical contract with Joja and now they are stuck there, or they were sold to Joja as a baby, or maybe Joja truly pays the most or brings the farmer some sort of benefits that they would never get anywhere else (to use Thad as an example he would have a place where he could still practice magic even after the Ministry forbade him to do it). But in the end they are one of the evil minions Joja sends on different missions. (Besides characters that are evil, but not too evil, are cool so why couldn't the farmer be one of those lovable bad guys?)
And of course, there are heroes willing to fight against Joja and stop it's evil plans. The Ministry and the guilds could fight against more than just monsters, and they made it their mission to stop Joja. Similarly, mages/adventurers act more like the classic heroes that will appear everywhere to stop the villains (they could still use mainly swords and magic and dress in medieval cloaks though). Maybe belonging to a guild now mainly shows the type of training/abilities each character has, since guilds in SVE tend to focus mainly on their territory rather than work together all the time.
But after multiple times where they fight against each other Lance and the farmer start to fall for each other and then end up in a really weird relationship. They are still on the opposite sides of the conflict, but the farmer sometimes sends warnings and tips to Lance about their future missions. "We will soon attack the Governor's mansion. Joja wants to take his family hostage. Keep an eye on him". Or the farmer makes sure Lance and his friends won't be killed in that trap they laid around the magic grove they were trying to raid. And Lance in turn pretends to not notice when the farmer escapes after finally getting captured by the Ministry. So they are stuck with flirting while they fight and try to make sure the other is alright even while they both are attempting to fulfil the objective that brought them there.
While still nice and kinda disinterested in Joja's success, I imagine the farmer is still trying to actually do their job and succeeds in whatever mission he was sent to do pretty often. After all the farmer is really inventive and resourceful, learns new things fast and can be very determined when they want to. In a team of Joja minions the farmer is easily the one the adventurers have to be weary of the most, and they often grumble when they figure out that the farmer will part of the group sent to do some evil task. So they won't complain too much about Lance's unusual crush as long as it makes their job even a little bit easier.

Sorry for the long post, I wanted to write about this for a while but never figured out how to do it in a coherent way. So it might be a bit messyπŸ˜…
I think Lance feeling stressed due to all of his responsibilities is a big reason why he falls in love with the farmer.
He's one of the most experienced and capable adventurers/mages out there, aside from a few individuals who either aren't combatants (Magnus and Camilla) or are retired (Gil and potentially his master). The only adventurers above his rank that actually go on missions are Marlon and Jolyne, and even they probably spend more time dealing with guild business than actually killing monsters. Lance is currently the best/highest ranking actual fighter in SVE.
So he'll almost always be the most trusted and responsible member among any group of adventurers he works with. He'll be the one responsible with his team's safety and the one everyone will rely on. He'll be the one who has to explain the situation to everyone and make sure they all know what to do or expect. The one who has to keep everyone safe, be prepared for any problem they could encounter, give orders in the middle of a battle, cover everyone during danger, and make sure no one is lost or injured. Every time something goes wrong all team members will look at him waiting for a solution. If anything bad happens to someone on his team it will be partially his fault as their leader.
He's under a lot of pressure because of his position. Since every adventurer working with him relies on him as the most experienced and competent member of the team he can't afford to show many emotions. If they face a really dangerous situation during a mission he can't show he's scared since that will panic everyone else even more. Or if he's tired or hurt he has to hide it as much as possible to not worry the others.
Drake idolizes him so much he painted his hair to match Lance's, how could Lance ever tell him that he's been so worried about whatever mission they'll have to do to the point where he couldn't sleep for days? He has to keep these things for himself and hope he'll be capable (and lucky) enough to get everyone back home safely.
And he can't just complain to Jolyne or Camilla either. They have their own problems after all, and they too rely on him to do his job properly. He can't come across as too weak or uncapable of doing his duties. I think Lance really loves his job, but he also finds it really stressful and tiering. Especially since he also tends to overwork himself.
But then he meets the farmer, who doesn't know anything about how the guilds operate. They don't know Lance either and only have some vague idea of what his position means. The farmer is also the only adventurer that fights alone, doesn't expect help from everyone and doesn't answer to anyone either. They are probably the first person in a long time that Lance could act a little more human around.
The farmer is barely part of their guild, they don't do any normal activities that are expected of other adventurers (and adventurers basically dedicate their whole lives to their guilds apparently). No matter where they go or who they meet they never try to represent the Pelican Town guild, despite potentially being it's vice leader (Gil has been called the guild administrator and there is literally no one else to fill the position). They also don't care that Lance is the First Slash's second in command, or about any other of his titles. Lance can interact with them without feeling like every chat is a political or an 'official guild business' thing where he has to constantly watch his words.
But also, he doesn't need to feel responsible for the farmer's safety or actions. He doesn't need to worry if the farmer has enough supplies or maintained their equipment properly, or if they have some totem with them. The farmer always works alone, comes and goes as they please, and proved to be capable of taking care of themselves without anyone's help. They faced dangerous situations alone and got themselves out without help, healed themselves on their own and dealt with lots of decisions alone. It's not that Lance doesn't want to help the farmer, but he can trust them to take care of themselves without feeling like he holds their life in his hands and every mistake of his could lead to their death.
To use one of my headcanons as an example, when the invisibility spell wears off during Lance's heart event I assume he was ready to take charge and be the responsible team leader he should be. After all, he the farmer is a still new and inexperienced adventurer trapped in an unfamiliar location. But to his surprise the farmer doesn't turn at him looking scared or worried, or even waiting orders like he was used with. After all, the farmer fought their way into this cave multiple times so they don't doubt that they can fight their way out of it too. So they just reach for their weapon and prepare to attack. They trust Lance will join the battle without actually depending on him.
As you said, Lance gets more relaxed after marriage, admitting he's not as strong as he would want, admitting making mistakes during his magical experiments and speaking about how exhausted he is or how lonely he feels at the outpost. He probably hasn't been this vulnerable to another person ever since he joined the First Slash. The farmer doesn't rely on him for protection or advice, so he can finally admit some weakness and look for support form someone else for change.
Post 1.6 SVE spoilers - aka the 'Lance wtf is wrong with you?' update
Didn't play with the new update(s) yet but I peeked at the files and the changelogs and there are a few really funny things in there.
But first, Marlon:

These are the exact opposite of each other. It looks like Marlon was secretly trying to get the farmer killed.
Marlon: "The Skull Cavern is dangerous for an inexperienced adventurer such as yourself. Here's something that will keep you safe." *gives the farmer something that attracts even more monsters*
But if you thought Marlon and Qi are the only oddly violent characters in the newest updates you're wrong. You can add Lance to the list too! And this time it's not a bug :D
Tumblr media
Lance, wtf? This is a friendly competition, there are children participating! Fighting over the eggs won't even help you win, you would just waste you limited time! Lance, what are you doing? 😭
If Lace is willing to fistfight children over a meaningless contest like the egg hunt (or better, willing to threaten children with a sword in front of their parents), how competitive does he get in a serious one? We all assume Lance would be pretty relaxed about having a love rival, but he's apparently ready to go straight to violence for something much less important than the farmer.
To be fair to Lance, it makes sense. Adventurers belong to a small and tightknit community where being good at violence is the most useful skill a member can possess. And news about your talents or failures travels fast to everyone else. Easiest way for people to test their worth would be through different competitions, since clear goals and rules means it's easier to judge someone's talents, and they have less chance of adventurers killing each other.
Refusing to participate would probably label someone as a coward and it might ruin their reputation worse than simply losing would. And for a group that defines themselves through fighting to the death escalading every competition to violence probably feels natural. This might be one of the reason almost every adventurers mocks the farmer at first. The farmer is too nice and friendly and that makes them look like a weakling that would never survive among 'true' adventurers, let alone the battlefield.
And Lance is not only a highly respected adventurer but also a guild leader. He probably wouldn't have even been considered as Jolyne's vice leader if he would have avoided these contests. And in order to earn his position he must have been really good at fighting his fellow adventurers. So this attitude is not surprising if you think about it.
Still, Lance pointing a sword at Sophia while clutching a colourfully painted egg is such a funny image.

I imagine poor Julian making bird feeders and filling them with food in hopes of befriending the crows flying over his farm only to still have his crops stolen. Then bringing out the old scarecrows to place them in the field again, all while grumbling about ungrateful creatures.
I like the idea of wolves chasing down Julian's annoying relatives (and Joja employees), it's a really nice detail. And it kinda shows how far Julian has come after moving into the valley and well he settled into his new life.
How did Julian adapt to suddenly speaking with animals? Especially since a farm so close to the forest must have a lot of different animals around.
The part where Julian threatens the wolves in interesting, because it's the exact opposite to Thad's reaction. He would act more aggressively on the moment, like throwing stones after some predator that gets close to his animals, or kick it, or grab one and physically drag it outside the farm, but wouldn't try to seriously hurt it. Even after losing several animals. I guess Julian is more of a 'don't anger a nice guy' type of person, while Thad is closer to 'barking dog won't bite (too badly)'.
About Thad and animals, I had to add back forest magic to his magical abilities alongside void magic, so he can talk with animals too now. I was thinking of making him kinda feed nature around him, making plants grow faster, attracting junimos or other nature spirits, and even animals (and why the green rain happens more often after he moved to the valley). Animals tend to gather around him even without a reason, like a rabbit flopping in his lap when he visits the forest or some bird landing on him in town. But they also bring him lots on news from around the valley.
I'm basically using this as a justification for all the things I know about the game that the farmer shouldn't know/be able to do. Need batteries? A spirit heard Marlon that bats there drop them for some reason. Have to find Caroline? A bird can be convinced to fly around the town and locate her. Forgot to get watering can from Clint? Bribe a racoon to enter through the window and bring it out.
So, the farmer is like an overly-chaotic Disney princess
"Shane! That bird over there says your shoes suck!. Also, if you're looking for your wallet you dropped it by the abandoned house in the woods last night."

Post 1.6 SVE spoilers - aka the 'Lance wtf is wrong with you?' update
Didn't play with the new update(s) yet but I peeked at the files and the changelogs and there are a few really funny things in there.
But first, Marlon:
Tumblr media
These are the exact opposite of each other. It looks like Marlon was secretly trying to get the farmer killed.
Marlon: "The Skull Cavern is dangerous for an inexperienced adventurer such as yourself. Here's something that will keep you safe." *gives the farmer something that attracts even more monsters*
But if you thought Marlon and Qi are the only oddly violent characters in the newest updates you're wrong. You can add Lance to the list too! And this time it's not a bug :D

1.6 spoilers - it moved again!
No, I don't plan to post every single time it happens, just noticed something interesting.
Tumblr media
The mannequin moved across the farmhouse but it's still facing the bed. The bed where the farmer was sleeping in.
Is it possible that it's always staring at the farmer no matter where it moves?

Now I imagine the farmer using crows as scouts. If they caw once it means no one is around and the farmer can start digging through the trashcan. If they caw again it means someone is approaching. Of course, in exchange of some of the food the farmer finds.
Although befriending crows might be harder since the farmer planted scarecrows against them. Is Julian's crow friend bothered by that?
Also lets not forget the weird mafia-style deals with the bear...
So, the farmer is like an overly-chaotic Disney princess
