EDIT: It's not even that good a "romance" really. Just 2 people who are fragile who happened to meet each other and became co-dependent through work. Hardly the basis for a strong, healthy, lasting relationship, simply being co-dependent on each other. But it IS fiction. 🙄🤷‍♀️

FILMING STARTS ON 🖤
https://uk.news.yahoo.com/tom-burke-holliday-grainger-return-000100498.html
There are a couple of errors in the article... it describes the series as "gritty" and "noir". It has LONG since stopped being that [since COE] and has become a sloppy faux romance, but no doubt they are publishing from the hymn book that jkr/wb wants them to push. And Holliday is still listed as a secretary.

No wonder TRG [the soap opera, NOT detective novel] is so long, with UNNECESSARY DRIVEL about Cormoran and his drive to fulfill normal desires. [We all know Cormoran thinks with the head between his legs, when it comes to women] So his "good friend" Ilsa, who can't say NO, decides it's a good idea to invite the office whore to her son's christening party [to spice things up between Cormoran and Robin]. THEN gives the same loud mouth Cormoran's phone number. Now Cormoran isn't scot free in this but, if Ilsa had never put Bijou into the picture, Cormoran wouldn't have known of her existence. 😉 So, WHY is this BS even in a DETECTIVE novel? Oh, that's right... to pad out the book!?
Or is it to follow the STRIKE FORMULA that has been developed... Robin beavering away diligently ALONE, while Cormoran fcks his way through the book, contributing very little to the action/actual investigation?
One of the things that attracted me to the series initially was the originality [I was trying to escape the FORMULAIC writing of Patterson, Baldacci et al.] But this series has devolved into a predictable formula... Robin does dangerous work uncovering the most important part of the stuff needed to solve the case, while Cormoran has girlfriend problems, which Robin spends pages agonising over.🤮 [Mind you, HE is supposed to be the hard headed investigator. Did he act like this while working in S.I.B.?] For someone who is supposed to be so dedicated to building up his agency [remember all the shit with berserko 😳🙄] he seems to have forgotten the word "discretion."🤦‍♀️ I'm only up to Ch 40 something... maybe the Bijou character entanglement has some deeper meaning later 🤔 but somehow, I doubt it.

Robert Galbraith’s latest novel: J. K. Rawling’s private eye Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott return in The Running Grave.
We can agree: it didn't need to be that long. BUT, I'm certainly not staying up to see what happens next; I still haven't got to the "compelling" part.🙄

I find it so annoying to find pinterest full of pins labelled STRIKE, BUT are actually just ellacott. 😳🙄 It's just like smegsy calling Suits... "My show," when she was a MINOR character. The novels are called STRIKE novels. Maybe jkr should have called them "the co-dependent STRIKE and ellacott novels" right from the start and avoided all the confusion. 😕🙄

The Running Grave (Literature) - TV Tropes
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Literature/TheRunningGrave#:~:text=Improbably%20Predictable%3A%20At%20the%20end,suicide%20earlier%20in%20the%20novel.
I'm guessing between this and the not so subtle comments about "how great the book is" and "you'll not be disappointed" 😉 that something progresses in the Mills and Boon faux romance.🥱🥱🥱 NOT that the book becomes a masterpiece of detective literature. Only 1100 pages of the ebook to go. Probably less, if I read on my tablet. It's an interesting site.

I'm really not seeing "the best book of the series" yet. Admittedly, only up to Ch. 16, but it's still high school faux romance, teenage love angst bullshit. Even Ilsa has lost her mind. She couldn't say NO to Bijou coming to the christening... why not? THEN she couldn't NOT give her Cormoran's phone number 😳🙄🤦‍♀️... again... why not? Then she says... I was trying to be a good friend... you could have done THAT by NOT connecting "your friend Cormoran" with that slattern. Especially knowing he's been on starvation rations.😳🤦‍♀️ 🙄 But jkr needs these plot devices to pad out the book, obviously. With all the praise about "research into cults," I don't see any great insights. I know as much about cults [more actually] than I've read so far. And everything I've read so far could have come off the internet. Still waiting, jkr. 🥱 [Let's face it, the "plan" would have been to show Cormoran what a great "catch R was", 🙄 but it backfired horrendously, and now shes blaming Cormoran for HER interference in HIS personal life.] The Ilsa character has dropped considerably in my estimation: she's as addle headed as R. jkrs female characters just get WORSE. 😳😤

Seven Strikes, still not out | Review of ‘The Running Grave’ by Robert Galbraith - The Hindu
Still finding the book underwhelming, TBH. More of the same faux romance padding it out to another extra long tome. 🙄 Struggling to find the compelling part. 🥱 And it's NOT going to be released to DVD... only scamming platforms. 🤬

Further to TB not being released on DVD... THIS series has already been removed from BBC iPlayer and amazon streaming. 😳 With a DVD, you can see it forever: these platforms have carried it for a year. 🙄🤮 and people wonder why I prefer owning DVDs. 🤦‍♀️

Watching TB before my binge subscription expires and literally taking shots of the TV screen. The dinner party fiasco was all Robin's fault; she should have told her idiot brother NO. 🙄 She has a real problem with that, unless she gets angry, and then she loses control. It was nice to see Cormoran actually do the Creed interview: given the prominence Robin is given in the series, I wouldn't have been surprised if somehow she managed to get that gig, too. Cormoran is regularly denigrating himself and praising Robin: she is appearing in scenes she doesn't get mentioned in the book. In scenes where they both appear, Cormoran is often relegated to the background shadows. No wonder some people are beginning to wonder how much longer Cormoran will remain a character in "his" novels.

So, TB and further series of STRIKE will NOT be released on DVD [REAL SPEAK?... there's not enough millions of $ profit in it for the "wonderful" jkr]. Apparently, there's not enough demand" 😳 She signs up with streaming platforms [money hungry 💩s MHTs], no doubt promising her "legions of fans" will follow her... ANYWHERE. NEWS FLASH... 🖕🖕🖕 off. It's a 2-way street, you greedy cow: you produce the entertainment, but we buy it in our PREFERRED format. I have MANY reasons for NOT using MHTs, preferring an ad-free DVD that I own, which is EXACTLY as it was produced [not edited to suit some programming schedule]. Preferably on a platform that ACTUALLY WORKS. AND the reduced cost of NO ONGOING fees. Your decision to NOT produce DVDs shows you are truly more interested in YOUR pocket than fans, no matter what you pretend. If you can't be 🖕ed looking after fans, I can't be 🖕ed putting more money into your pockets.

ALERT ⚠️ 📢 🚨
To anyone thinking of joining the jk rowling group in fb... be careful.
*it's not official [SHE only deigns to use the cesspit twatter.
* Its administrators are mostly video game designers who are incessantly starting to
*post links to tyler henry [a psychic]... what has this got to do with jkr? 🤔
*has one administrator who says on his profile... I rape all... 😳🤮
*has a fan that posts obsessively and daily,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*is full of hateful trolls who make the sussex squad and swifties look like angels [ I've never had to block 🚫 so many fellow members simply for stating an honest opinion... even ones SUPPORTING jkr. 😳]
*despite being a "public" group, it is very heavily censored... surely something jkr herself is against. 🤔
The group has grown exponentially since I first noticed it: but I wouldn't take that as a guide. Many of the profiles I've checked are dodgy, to say the least. It doesn't seem to actually DISCUSS anything about jkr. it simply allows a handful of people to idolise her and HP. Occasionally, there is a bit about charity work. If you're looking for an actual jkr fan group, I'd avoid this PoS. IMO, they are doing jkr a DISSERVICE and should be shut down.
ADDENDUM: MY messenger account has been locked for THREE days bc I ‼️ breached some nebulous "community standards" 😳🙄... I ‼️ was harassed and bullied, but I'm the one who breached standards. 🤪Yeah, right. Make it make sense, suckerberg.

I really am fed up with hearing the Robin character described as a "strong, independent woman" 🤮 She admits she married mattwat...to feel safe...[hardly strong and independent] and constantly moons after Cormoran, looking for ANOTHER man, bc she is NOT "a strong, independent woman." She doesn't just want a bit of occasional support: she needs a permanent crutch. And before the bleeding hearts start: my life wasn't in danger, but it's happened to me, BY A GANG, so I DO UNDERSTAND. [NOT that you need to know] I haven't spent my life looking for men to provide safety: I've stood on my own two feet, a REAL strong, independent woman.
Credit to creators.

The Linda character annoys the hell out of me. Not Suzanne Burden, who plays her, but the character. It's not like she is trying to live her life vicariously through Robin's different life choices [she's forced Robin into the same straight jacketed existence she has]. But then she ACTIVELY takes the abusive, controlling son-in-law's side AGAINST her own daughter in everything. 🤬 Instead of asking Robin what she can she can do to help her when Robin left mattwat in LW, she immediately assumes her own daughter has skipped out of the marriage, with Cormoran [when Robin has NEVER had any other bf.] I know the guy is controlling Robin, but Linda should be freer of his control and have a lot more faith in the woman she raised.

Rewatching LW, it's a pity the whole Chiswell family weren't obliterated [and Sarah]. What a bunch of absolute snobbish ar$eholes. And here's Robin, ready to leave mattwat on the honeymoon, but she hangs around bc he cuts himself on some coral. 🤦‍♀️🙄 Why she ever went through with wedding is a mystery. I believe it says it says a lot about HER need to "have a man and fit in with her expected destiny." As a still single woman in my late 60s, I can say I never worried about still being single and childless at 30.

I'll put this here: this blog is about the STRIKE series and will unabashedly concentrate on Cormoran, especially as the TV shows particularly seem to be shoving Robin to the fore. The books are STILL called the STRIKE novels: I'd like to think Cormoran is going to be around for a while. I will discuss other things, but if you don't like my stance on the boring faux romance, this won't be the place for you.
