honestly those (few) quiet moments where rin, kitay, nezha, and venka all relaxed/interacted kindly in some combination were so meaningful to me. rin staying with kitay while they were still at the academy and spending all their time together. rin seeing nezha for the first time since the academy and developing the beginnings of a friendship. kitay, venka, and rin staying up late and making up fantastical policies in the yin palace. nezha coming quietly to drink with kitay and rin in the last book for a single night.... like i just!!! it hurts. i wish they'd had more moments like this. quiet ones where nothing else matters but the present and the friendship they can make out of it. these moments where it seems like they're at the academy again without impending stakes but still with the camaraderie that's developed since then... a

Rin and Nezha are the more tragic version of Zuko and Katara

I’ve noticed the following similarities: water vs fire symbolism, war, enemies to friends arc, the guys are from noble families and have a face scar

The main difference is that Zuko was willing to go against his father, he was willing to switch sides. Whereas Nezha stayed loyal to his dad / duty till the very end. Katara was able to move past her desire for vengeance, whereas death was the only thing that could stop Rin’s rampage

I’d also like to add that ATLA is a kids show and TPW trilogy is for adults. The atrocities of war were shown in both series, but TPW went into way more detail about it.

no but the cike is so underratred and for what??? Especially Baji, Suni and Ramsa and I wanted more of their content. Their dynamic was just something so personal to me. Suni was the nicest fucking person in the series, Baji was a menace ands Ramsa was only just a child.  And I just hate how they died, hate how they’re barely mentioned in the last book. Can you imagine Baji and Suni waiting for Rin, only she never came. The soldiers came instead. Can you imagine Ramsa realizing his family is gone, he’s lost them for the second time but he can still save Rin. I just-

the clear cut parallels between rin, nezha, and kitay and the trifecta never fail to make me sob. like speer and mugen, the second poppy war and the third poppy war. riga loving and betraying daji, nezha loving and betraying rin. the friendship between jiang and daji, the friendship between rin and kitay. both groups leaving only one of them to rule. their shared complicated love and loyalty and hurt between each other. jiang and rins final moments of clarity. they followed right into their predecessors footsteps and didn’t even know it. both groups were supposed to be unstoppable forces but ended up being torn apart by each other.
