@transcending-chaos already said this but (like a lot of shows of chaotic's milieu) it's often not clear why she's friends with them. She's unnecessarily harsh and doesn't seem to like hanging out with them (I say not always because it's spotty from episode to episode)
I have zero sense of how the show would've handled it except as a very powerful piece of battlegear. This ishow it works but the narrative weight it is given in the episodes it features in. It's kinda great as an elusive myth that creatures use as motivations for all kinds of things mostly having to do with greater mastery and knowledge of the natural world. So great that I'd be worried the Cothica being an uncomplicatedly real artifact could be underwhelming
This is mentioned in Hifdan's card but I bet some of the more scary looking Overworlders face discrimination due to looking like Underworlders. They have to Deal with people mistrusting them or thinking them traitors.
I think you're right, even his flavor text somewhat indicates he faces suspicion:
"Though feared by many for looking like an UnderWorlder, Hifdan is as loyal to Maxxor as they come"
Spending enough time with him would likely dispel anyone's fears, but having a culture that is so opposed to its subterranean neighbours has consequences like that
I wish we see more of Creature families (I still headcanon Accato as Maxxor's cousin/nephew) and also fluff episodes. Also, after seeing Shazam and its Seven Deadly Sins, imagine those guys in Perim.
yeah I think they don't because like... they don't have cards.
The creatures are so varied because they're designed individually by random artists off deviantart (love that fact tbh), and not designed from the perspective of 'what does this species look like'.
But yeah when Maxxor mentioned his father who ruled the Overworld when he was young, I was thinking show us him! Do it!
Or Antidaeon (i.e. Duck Dad), who is clearly great with kids. I'd love to see his nieces and nephews or the village kids in his hometown or something.
today I learned that, since racehorses are notoriously high-strung creatures, stables will often assign the horses a calm workhorse or fat pony to be their friend, so they can have their time to calm down and chill out
Outwardly I reacted normally to this, going huh that's interesting, all while desperately tamping down another thought:
