This sweet girl is officially with me for the next six weeks before going home! She was COVERED in ticks—seriously, I’ve been in dog rescue for the majority of my life and I have never seen it that bad. She had no idea what a treat was. Almost no socialization with other dogs.
The people who surrendered her pretty much lied to us about her. Which, screw them, but I can work with her easily.
She has no idea all the love coming her way, though! She is going to be living her absolute best life starting today. My best friend adopted her (she’s staying with me until my bestie comes for a visit in about six weeks. Then, she’ll go home). They’re super excited to have her and will treat her soooooo well. I’m excited for my bestie and her family to get such a great dog and I’m excited for this precious girl to have a home that will treat her like she deserves to be treated. ❤️🐶

Happy Story!
I have helped place many, many dogs in homes. For those who don’t know anything about me, I’m pretty active in the rescue community. That said, I have never had a home for a dog in under 15 minutes and I have never been so excited about it!
The short version is that I was contacted about an Aussie (which is one of my favorite breeds!) who desperately needed a home. My understanding of the situation is that she wouldn’t leave the people’s cows alone. The people were going to put her down if they couldn’t rehome her ASAP.
So, I got contacted. I didn’t have many details at all. Not even at a picture at this point. I made a post with what little details I had (with the promise of more as I got them) and in under ten minutes, she had a home.
My best friend and her husband are going to take her. I’m beyond excited! She’s going to have a home that will love her like she deserves to be loved. I’m going to foster (or, dogsit in this situation?) her for a few weeks and when my bestie comes for a visit, they’re going to bring her home with them. ❤️❤️❤️

Yeah, big facts!
i encourage you to go to your favourite writer's ao3 page and comment on an older fic, because i can assure you that it will make their day. It can mean so much to see your work doesn't disappear into the void to be never seen again after a day of people interacting with it. Just, if you have the time, go comment on an older work
(pls reblog this to try and get as much writers a bit of appreciation)

Feral smartass is literally the most accurate description of me that I’ve ever seen 😂 They usually have the polar opposite of me for Leo. This one was dead on, though 😂

No one will probably care but I am insanely proud of my dogs (aka my boys or the boys) right now. So, I live in the Missouri. Where I live, specifically, we get a lot of super bad weather during Tornado Season (March through October—the majority of it is in spring, to be clear). So, tonight, we have weather that could result in an EF-2 tornado.
Round one hit about an hour ago. So, in the Midwest (at least, where I live) we have a tornado siren test the first Tuesday of every month at 10 AM. The last four or five of these, I have been taking my dogs to the safe place in the house (which is my bedroom walk-in closet since I don’t have a basement here). The idea was that I don’t want to have to fight them during the real thing (and, honestly, that would be how I died in that type of event 😂).
Apparently, all of that paid off because when the sirens went off tonight, Charlie (my 10 month old Mini Aussie) grabbed his bunny (his favorite thing in the world) and went to the closet with no prompting from me. Weasley (my 6 year old Pyrenees) followed him. (Side note: yes, the closet is big enough for all three of us to be in there quite comfortably.)
This was the first time they’ve done it without any prompting from me and it was also the real thing.

does anyone have recs for Jewish Mulder fics that are...... I don't know how to put this. That are backed by Jewish thinking? That don't have such a Christian relationship to belief and non belief and argument? about the long process of doing the work?
I mean obviously people come at these things from their perspectives and I enjoy a wide variety of perspectives on a bunch of different Mulders, but in the small subset of Jewish-ish Mulders i've read about i haven't really found. Like. Jewish Atheism is different than Christian Atheism and I do agree that it's challenging too articulate how that is without sounding like a theological essay instead of a character dialogue but. You don't need to observe Shabbat or keep kosher to still not think like this particular binary, or this societally common cluster of binaries, and it would be nice to see that expressed somewhat in this context

I woke up to a text today that a friend died in a car wreck last night. All I’ve been able to think today is that he didn’t deserve it. His family didn’t deserve it. His toddler doesn’t deserve to grow up without him. It’s not fair. It is never is, but it’s just not fair.
I’m not posting for sympathy or anything like that. I just needed to vent.
Rest in peace, Jared 💔

Random question: Does anyone know specifically what season (literal, four seasons kind of season) FTF takes place in? I did Google it but it only told what I already knew: that it takes place between s5 and s6 and it came out in June.
I’m thinking it probably takes place in the summer based on the rewatch and premiere date but I’m working on a new fic (it’s literally the best thing I’ve ever written, if I do say so myself) and the literal season is important so I’m at a standstill until I figure it out. I’ve been on a roll with it and having severe adhd, I can’t really afford to lose my momentum on it.
Anyone know? Best guesses? Help.

Facts 😂💯
shipping two characters you love equally is difficult because on one hand, you want them both to be happy, but on the other, you want one of them to be put in danger and the other one to go absolutely batshitfucking insane to get them back

This has been my philosophy since I first read Atlas Shrugged as a teenager. It fucking love this quote.
I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.
Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

A couple of questions for people who enjoy reading books (because, apparently, it’s weird that I do this):
1. Do you see what you’re reading or do you just read it? For example, I see it. It’s like a movie complete with background music (some that I make up, some from artists/bands/orchestras I like) and voice overs (if it’s an internal part).
2. If yes to the first question, do you cast it? I do (albeit unintentionally—I don’t pick anyone particular. My brain just assigns people to the roles whether it makes up a person based on the description or casts an actual person).
Follow up question if you answered “yes” to number two: how do you cast the characters? Do you pick your favorite actors/actresses, pick people you think would be best for the role? Some combo of the two? Or, do you do like me, people just pop into your head whether or not they might be the right choice for the role?
Example for the last follow up question: for years, any time I read Atlas Shrugged, I see Gillian Anderson as Dagny Taggart. I don’t know why. It makes no sense. It has absolutely nothing to do with The X-Files but something about her says she’s Dagny Taggart to me. It actually drives me absolutely insane. I’ve tried and tried to mentally recast—every time I read the book, actually. But, nope. From the first time I read it until today, Gillian Anderson (like 1998-1999) is Dagny Taggart.
That’s the most random mental casting I’ve done, but yeah. I don’t know. Apparently, most people don’t do this stuff so I’m curious as to who else, if anyone, does?
