hi tonight I’m thinking of all the people who are worse off than they were this time last year. of the people who have gone downhill mentally instead of up and of the people whose lives have gotten worse instead of better.
You may be in a really awful place right now but I am telling you that there is relief ahead. You will be able to breathe again. I know you probably can’t believe that right now, so trust me instead of your own doubts. I love you.

Korean Poetry Book Recommendations To Read When Learning Korean
Poem books are great tools to study from when learning a language. The poetic form is short and sweet and can be endearing to read and translate, especially, if you are an avid poetry lover like myself. Here are some of my favourites I have been learning from!
Tumblr media
I see you as I saw a flower [꽃을 보듯 너를 본다] by Na Tae-joo
This is a beautiful poem book and one of my favourites I have read thus far. Simple yet very meaningful pieces and nice to translate.
Poems of a Wanderer [og: 떠돌이의 시] by Seo Jeong-ju
This is a pretty rare vintage classic but if you can get your hands on it, please do! Jeong-ju was considered when of the best poets of the 20th century, thus for sure worth a read and well worth translating.
Distant Valleys [og: 정지용 시선] by Jeong Ji-yong
I have a love for classic literature, thus why I recommend these books. There is something about elder poets, just a different perspective I have seen when translating them against the modern day. I really loved this read, it was very fresh for the time.
Enough to say it’s far by Pak Chaesam
Considered one of the most important and unusual poets, this was a lovely book to translate for me. Another Korean poet described this books as; “the most exquisite expression of the Korean sense of han,” and I loved that thought even more and could totally get that when translating. Loved this and was probably my favourite.

"when they still had a sense of aesthetic" is that an opinion on the early Harry Potter films as opposed to the later ones I hear?
Yes! I think the first Harry Potter film had a strong aesthetic and sense of how Wizards and their world looked and felt. The fashion we saw in Diagon Alley and at the first sorting was good weird shit but by the end of the series everyone basically wore jeans and a pullover at all times. Even Luna looked like she shopped at American Eagle. Where were the weird robes? Their pointy hats? The absolutely wild hair accessories and jewelry and charms people would have, especially twelve year old girls. Adult wizard fashion disasters? The weird stuff that would immediately separate kids raised by muggles because the wizarding world dresses so old fashioned and strange. I think the movies really just lost any strong aesthetic. The first movie feels so magical and strange in such a good way and the rest just dont.

“WRITE IT BADLY. Write it badly, write it badly, write it badly, write it badly. Stop what you’re doing, open a Word document, put a pencil on some paper, just get the idea out of your head. Let it be good later. Write it down now. Otherwise it will die in there.”
— Brandon Sanderson on overcoming writer’s block to create a first draft as a professional author (via almost-always-eventually-right)

Hello, I kind of just need advice. I'm constantly worried about everything - if I've ever hurt anyone, if I'm doing things right, what I'm supposed to do right, about how I act as a person & a friend overall to the point where I'm being very careful & I get anxious, feels like it's starting to kill me I don't want to do any wrong or be that of a person. It doesn't sound so much but the feeling is really heavy. And I Hate how I am and I don't know who to be?? What should I do?
excessive worry of this sort - especially if you’re worrying so much you’ve started worrying about how much you’re worrying - is a major symptom of anxiety disorders. you’d be doing yourself a favour if you started seeing a professional about these thoughts.
in the meantime, i can tell you: yes, you’re doing shit wrong. we all are, constantly. it’s part of being human. it’s part of being alive. of course you’re not a perfect friend or person because nobody else is either, and it’s completely fruitless to worry about it this much because you’re going to destroy yourself rather than get better.
self-loathing and anxiety are obstacles on the road to self-improvement, not helping hands. you don’t have to love yourself, but accepting yourself, tolerating yourself, is absolutely essential if you want to be better.
do what comes naturally to you. be the person you are when you’re not overthinking every move. it’s not perfect. it’s not angelic. but it’s just fine, and you don’t need to worry about it.
not everything that doesn’t work perfectly is broken. don’t try to fix what isn’t broken.
[this comic] may be of some help to you. it has some thoughts i find comforting when i get overcome by this sort of worry.
my [self-hatred] tag may also be of use to you.
good luck, friend!

Hi yall (TW)
Im proud of myself.
I started purging yesterday, but stopped pretty quickly, and today I resisted the urge all together (with help).
I don’t think people understand how addictive it becomes, so please never do it.

Some assholes have been putting nails in cheese and treats in dog parks in Chicago and Massachusetts. Also adding antifreeze to water bowls.
Please watch out for your dogs. And if you find out the address of someone doing this, give me the address and tell no one. I will disembowel them.

looking around you
feeling lonely within a sea of people
maybe they are feeling the same way as you
maybe they have stories of their own
each to their own
take a step back
