I meant to add on to this a while ago but I forget oops, anyways I had more thoughts about this au.

The flock still don't have parents in this au (don't know how Jeb and Valencia fit into this so I really won't mention them) so they're in foster care and were admitted into a fancy catholic boarding school as rehabilitation program for troubled youth. Except a majority of the students are from wealthy gated communities so they're pretty much outcasts.

They all hang out a lot all the time, but I like to think Max, Fang and Iggy hang out with each other the most. They're also the ones that rebel the most, Max shaves her head and swaps clothes with Fang so Fang feels less dysphoric (Fang also gives her clothes to Iggy too). Idk how the logistics of trans kids in Catholic school would work but for the sake of simplicity, it's on their medical records kept by the foster care so technically the teachers have to respect it (whether they actually do use the right pronouns or not is a toss up). Fang wears goth makeup and later piercings in their nose and ears, (they get yelled at a lot for that oops).

But yeah when they're not in class or in detention they're doing stupid shit around town like hanging out in the park or library until they get kicked out by angry adults. Once they're old enough, they immediately get jobs at the local gas station over the summer and save up money for extra treats (the schools covers their tuition, boarding, school supplies etc.) when their classmates return from summer break, they'll brag endlessly about their trips to Europe meanwhile the flock's summer comprised of them buying junk food from the gas station, sneaking into the movie theater, and throwing rocks in the pond on school grounds.

Max, Fang and Iggy in particular like to go to the rich neighborhoods and sell weed to the rich kids (sometimes they'll run out and sell oregano or other herbs to make extra cash). They also steal shit from lost and found.

Iggy and Gazzy are super smart and hang out in the computer lab a lot (they're somehow able to download Minecraft on the school computers and nobody catches them).

Nudge is trying to live her best girly girl life, gets in trouble for putting sparkly stickers on her notebooks, writes with only gel pens, and has a duct tape wallet business (the girls who get it, get it).

Fang writes a lot of poetry and really gets into gothic literature, they'll write cringe poems for Max who acts like she hates them but secretly loves.

Max gets into sports like basketball and softball, and later boxing and weightlifting. She get detention the most out of everyone and is stuck doing chores around the school, the nuns don't care for her uh oh.

Gazzy and Angel both believe to hear God and get signs from him but Gazzy is a lot more chill about it and pretends to have conversations with him. Angel on the other hand gets really obsessed with studying Catholicism and the saints (i.e. Joan of Arc) and almost starts a cult.

On holidays the flock gets together in the school kitchens and makes a big meal and hangs out in the cafeteria while all the other students and staff are away (it's just them and the janitors and also the case worker who pops by every now and then to check if they're still alive.) They got issues but they take care of each other, just one big screwed up family lol.

Obsessed with your catholic Angel lore, makes me imagine a no wings au where the flock attends catholic school and they're all trying to cope, (not well I may add)

Speaking of dark academia, there should be a book set in that setting but revolving around the study of theology/Catholicism. Catholicism always has such a cunty goth aesthetic and there’s so many interesting bits of lore and theories from the thousands of years of study and research. Not to mention themes from the Bible like betrayal and worship being reflected in a bunch of gay repressed theology students.
