Never really thought of it before, to be honest. Basil is first name and considering he was left at the church as a child he didn't really have a last name. I would say he would take on Sister Willow's (who practically raised him) name. Which I guess I'm going to say is... Carter.

pain: What's the worst pain your OC has ever felt? Do they have a high pain tolerance?

Physically, probably something along the line of spraining his ankle one summer as a child. He wasn't the type to put himself into situations where he would get hurt often.

Emotionally? His mother figure dying, leaving him completely alone. He does not have a high pain tolerance for either type of pain.

desire: What's one thing your OC wants more than anything in the world? Are they open with that desire? Why or why not? What would they do to fulfill it?

To find peace and understanding with himself, to have a life he know he will be accepted. He doesn't really understand this though, especially not in so clean of words. Instead he's moved by an intense yearning for something different, to learn, to find the nebulous thing that would make him complete. He regrets a lot of his actions though.

For the oc angsty ask thing: break, desire, and/or pain for Hollyhock? (Sorry I’m just so feral for them and their lore. I need to know more about their life with the witches of hemlock or literally just anything about them. I’m gonna explode I love Hollyhock so much.) anyways to make up for the angsty asks about them, here’s a nicer ask for them: would Hollyhock wear one of those silky ruffly nightgown/ robes with the fur trim? I don’t know how else to describe it other than that the robe looks exactly like something a newly widowed rich woman in the golden age of Hollywood would wear, lounging in it while draped against a velvet lounge somewhere in her (newly acquired) mansion that she so conveniently inherited from her recently deceased rich husband.

It would be when they first escaped the Witches and came to Hell and they had a much harder time finding blood. This leave them weak, starved, and practically feral. They don't remember how it happened but next thing they knew they had ripped open a demon in some back alley, just enough disgusting tasting blood to bring them back to their senses. That was when they had a breakdown, feeling out of control and pathetic. It did lead them realizing that they needed to start making connections and finding proper sources of blood, but it was a long and lonely night.

God, Hollyhock wants to be loved. Not just romantically, but admired and respected and enjoyed. They will never admit this, even to themselves, least they invite pity rather than respect. But this is why they try to be the biggest and most impressive in the room, they want to bask in the glow of positive attention.

And yes, Hollyhock would totally wear a beautiful dramatic "just killed my husband for this" night robe. One of the silky ones, with delicate embroidery. Preferably in red, as it does look good on them.

heartbreak: Have they ever had a relationship that ended badly? Experienced some other kind of heartbreak? What happened?

Oh definitely. Ginger a Flower Maiden, created to be keepers of the Garden and hosts for the guests. This often translate into sex work. I don't have specifics but I can see, when she was young, Ginger getting very close to someone only to realize that they see her very differently. To them, she's just fun feature of the Gardens, someone to fuck and forget once they leave. This made her realize that most demons don't really see her or the Flower Maidens as people.

future: What's the worst possible future for your OC? Are they taking steps to avoid that outcome? Are they even aware it's a possibility?

That would be Malady getting dragged back to his creators and forced under their will again, probably forever that point. Malady is terrified of this and is willing to do anything to escape this fate. He wants to run away and live a happy life with Lapis but he knows the only way he'll ever be free if his creators are dead.

It's to be captured and brought back to be eaten by the archfiend Alvus, reduced to his original purpose as meat, as prey. He's always very aware that he is being hunted and that he will probably be caught, but that will never stop him from running.

secret: What's one secret your OC never wants anyone to know about them?

Honestly, he would prefer no one ever knew his past at the Wilderness and his original purpose as prey. He desperately wants to be free of that past and move on and remake his life. Also, in theory, if someone realizes Fig is runaway property of Alvus, then they could give Fig back to him for the archfiend's favor.

Thistle was a demon created in a river of blood to be apart of an army on the War Fields, the circle of wrath. They lost. They lost very very hard. Thistle watched her fellow war demons be completely destroyed in battle, only able to save her brothers Berry and Mugwort. The failure and grief never ever left her.

Which leads to....

I don't think she does so consciously, she just actively keeps people at arm's length and doesn't relax easily. Definitely not the type to talk about her emotional problems at all. What's the use of dwelling on it? Who cares? Her brothers however know how much it affected though.

Basil is someone who considers himself someone who is very okay with being alone. He likes the quiet, the type of person who is happy to fill his time reading, cooking, or doing chores be himself. He didn't experience true loneliness until his mother figure, Sister Willow died. He didn't have any real friends or family, so he completely retreated into himself which made things worse. It was a dark and very sad time for him.

Probably his father. After he accidentally created Dandelion by slashing at his own shadow, his father stayed with him for about 2 weeks before getting bored and leaving the Gardens, never to contact him again. This isn't really unusual for demons like him, accidents happen all the time, but it was devastating for Dandelion at the time

It's not something Dandelion cries about now, it's been over 200 years and he's done fine without his father. But it did heavily impact in how he views relationships.

now that I know Fig and Hollyhock hang I crave to see them in more situations

What kind of parties is Hollyhock getting Fig to attend? Do the parties have to have a merchant's fair kind of attachment to get him interested? Just love the kinds of situations these two are capable of lol

Basil probably has to hear of too many escapades he'd rather not know about lol

Hollyhock uses their connections to introduce Fig the plane-hopping smuggler to dumb rich demons at big fancy parties. In Fig gets business contacts (and scams the hell out of these idiots) and Hollyhock gets a cut of the profits in exchange (or at least a donation of blood). Hollyhock often has to help with Fig's little adventures/schemes with their magic know-how.

They have one of those business relationships where the more power one side accrues, the more the other side can get out of them. They also both claim it's strictly professional, but to be honest they both have a lot of fun from it. For two characters that find it hard to emotionally connect with others, it's nice feeling you're on the same side as someone.

But it does mean that Hollyhock has to begrudgingly dress Fig up in nice clothes and douse him in perfume to hide the musk smell.

And god, the stories Basil wish he's never heard!
