This is really old, but I’m a new carat and I just saw the video. Before even reading anyone’s reactions to it, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The girl in the lyrics herself was stating “I’m not going anywhere because I’m yours”, the song to me felt like flirtatious possessiveness with bdsm kinks, which understandably makes a lot of people uncomfortable, especially the general carat fanbase. I got into Seventeen because of their bubble gum pop themes.  So, seeing something so dark and kinky from Hoshi is a bit too much, but I did not see it as glorifying violence or anything like that.  I do engage in similar play with my partner, so that could be why, neither her nor I found it bad at all. We both just thought it was hot. xD And of course, we talk and act similarly like in the video in completely consent and not for real at all. But, it would be difficult for a younger generation to comprehend that those actions if done for real are very very wrong.  

what did hoshi do?

He has a solo performance that included a woman tied up and it understandably triggered a lot of people bc it seems like it normalizes abuse and although the full thing hasn’t been released it just makes me uncomfortable although I’m not sure whether it was his idea or the company’s ?

I saw the video, and noticed many Koreans stating the same about the performance: promoting violence and rape or non-con in a relationship. I think it is because they’re more conservative. Even before reading the comments, I read the translation of the lyrics, and I loved it.  All I'm saying is if this gets produced and released, song is going on my sex playlist. This is that kink shit we need. Hoshi did such a good job. The song itself even expresses consent, the girl literally starts by expressing her willingness to just be his. This is a normal kink, at least in western culture. There is nothing here promoting rape or violence at all whatsoever. Just a consensual couple enjoying playful possessiveness with sensual undertones. This is flirtatious foreplay in a dom/sub relationship, according to both the lyrics AND the performance. I often engage in similar or exactly equal play with my partner. 

Regarding Hoshi's stage at the concert...

I feel like I need to put my 2 cents into this…. *Please read all of it before commenting*

I hear about how much hate Hoshi is getting for his stage at Seventeen’s concert…hate that accuses him of promoting rape and non-con because of his concept. I can sorta see why people would feel incredibly offended by this. So far, we have only seen Seventeen as “boyish,” “cute,” and “innocent.” So Soonyoung’s sexy/racy concept at this concert really came as a surprise to most of the fan base, since “Seventeen Carat” and “BoysBe” are so innocent. After all, the majority of us refer to Seventeen as “our sons” or “our children,” which means we only see them as kids (even though half of them are legal adults). So I can see where most of the outrage lies.

That being said…

All the fans that believe Soonyoung condones rape culture needs to shut up and listen.

Just because Hoshi decided on this concept DOESN’T mean he condones rape.

We will have to wait until the song is released to know what was really behind the lyrics. Because…SOMETIMES THE VISUAL ASPECT DOESNT MATCH WITH THE LYRICAL ASPECT. This is seen A LOT in music videos. Where the video tells one story and the lyrics tell another.

Now, I am an international fan, so I am only getting 2nd hand accounts on what went on during the concert. Since I wasn’t able to see what went on, I can only make my own assumptions based on tweets.

Another thing, Soonyoung is a legal adult (I’m the same age as him, ‘96 line), so saying that he isn’t allowed to act sexy/racy because he is “a child” is both offensive and incorrect. Yes, even though at 19 (US age), we still act childish, we are at that age where it is sometimes acceptable to be called and act sexy.

Most of the fan base is around the same age as the boys, so instead of seeing them as “your son,” think of them as your peers for a second. How do the boys in your class behave? Are they childish and innocent? Or do they tend to act flirty and sexy at times?

We have to remember that Seventeen is either in their late teens or early adult years.

TL;DR
