He can cook, but he generally doesn't. Most of what he eats is either easy stuff (frozen microwave meals, ramen, etc) or prepared by Yes-Bot. He basically eats like a college student lol

I'm going back and forth on whether he can drive a normal car. He can drive his flying car (though, again, he usually makes Yes-Bot do it) but I actually think it'd be really funny if he never got a normal driver's license and can't drive the car normally lol

I never used to leave comments but since I got into the habit of commenting on everything i enjoy it's been incredible. Especially when the author gets back to me about it and we get to have a discussion of what other ideas they had. One writer replied to my comment with a 5 paragraph essay detailing the Floorplan of the building the characters lived in and it was incredible

Anyways this is all to say that if you find a fic that just makes you want to scream from the rooftops, leave a comment saying that to the author and maybe they will join you and you can scream incoherently together

helloooo I'm not dead! I've actually been working on some interludes, one of which is pretty much done and just needs some editing before I post it. the interludes I'm working on are pretty exposition-y but will hopefully help clear a few things up. plus one of them has chase in it. you guys like chase right

I'm also considering reinstating the one short fic I think I've mentioned before that I thought I'd have to cut since things had changed so much. I'm now thinking I could keep it with some tweaks. I'll have to see. I definitely want to keep it in if I can because it has some really fun interactions between two characters whose relationship I want to focus on a little more. so! we'll see.

Clay's introduction is still in the outlining stage, but I'm starting to zero in on how I want it to go. It's still going to be a while before I start writing it and even longer before I start posting it, but it's coming.

the original plan was to jump right from Clay's introduction to the finale and skip "royal rumble" (the episode where four wu go active at once) but I might include it just for the sake of fleshing the characters and their dynamics out just that little bit more before the finale. I'm mainly concerned with giving clay enough focus since he's coming in so late that he doesn't get much time to establish himself as a character or build a real rapport with the other members of his team. We'll see.

all this to say that while we're definitely approaching the end of season one, there is still plenty of fic coming. It may take a while, because I'm an adult with a job and bills and a life, but it is coming. I figure most of the people left in the fandom these days can probably relate lol

oh yeah I can actually pull one right from the fic lmfao

from the second chapter of Ante Up (rai & sal's introduction, the part where they're meeting with chase):

“About three years ago,” Sal answered easily. “He needed a guiding hand, and I…well, these bones are not so young as they used to be.” His eyes sparkled as he said it, as if referencing some inside joke.

the "inside joke" is that sal has superpowers and doesn't age. chase knows this. rai has no clue.

So, your concept art showed Rai with a tattoo of a Komodo dragon, but you decided against that for the fic.

But is there a chance of him getting a new tattoo during the timeframe of the story?

I mean I don't have any specific plans for it, but it could happen, sure.

The boring meta reasons I cut down on his tattoos was that I felt like they cluttered his design a bit and also it didn't make sense for him to have a komodo dragon tattoo after I decided he didn't know about Sal's powers lol

Just kinda felt like doing this so: here's a list of more minor XS characters and what they're up to in the AU. this ended up mostly being villains. most if not all of these guys won't be showing up in the AU but I've had a rough idea of what some of their deals are and figured it'd help to write them down somewhere.

For the purposes of this list (and the AU in general) I'm differentiating being Heylin from being evil/a criminal. The Heylin side is a little more organized in that they're involved with black magic and exist specifically to oppose the Xiaolin monks. so you can be "evil" without being Heylin. Jack was never involved with the Heylin side before meeting Wuya. Sal worked as a recruiter for the Heylin as a favor to Chase for a while but doesn't consider himself Heylin.

Katnappe:

Got into evil/crime around the same time as Jack; unlike Jack she stuck with it but she never got involved with the Heylin

mostly does petty crime/theft, lives an extravagant lifestyle funded by a combination of her parents' money and stolen goods

still has her genetically altered cats, mostly uses them as muscle/backup when needed

Jack knows her through their parents (both come from high class families); Sal knows of her through his criminal connections but idk if they've ever met

Le Mime:

literally the same as in canon. probably just fucking around in paris messing with random tourists

possibly actively heylin???? it would be funny if the fucking mime is technically more competent at being evil than Jack was

Vlad:

I don't actually know what he's up to, if he stayed evil or decided to run a legitimate business, but he did at least go Heylin for a while when he was a teenager

he was actually recruited to the Heylin side by Sal

he befriended Jack while Jack was still trying to be evil and they've been internet pals ever since. they still chat regularly.

Tubbimura:

Another Sal recruit

Mostly retired from evil, less because he turned good and more because he didn't like being evil so much as he liked having an excuse to mess with people

possibly became a mercenary???? i mean he was basically one in canon so

idk uhhhh probably the same as in canon. Organized crime boss who operates out of Hong Kong.

I don't think Jack stayed evil long enough to deal with him lol

Dunno if I'll fully touch on this but he did in fact get accidentally unleashed by Omi a few years before the AU takes place. The Moonstone Locust revealed itself and Omi (probably with Fung and Guan's help) was able to subdue him.

I'm gonna say the events of his episode more or less happened the same here only without all the Wu stuff and no Showdown.

"Uh, excuse me!"

Kimiko opened one eye, jolted from the rare moment of total bliss and relaxation she'd been experiencing. She'd just finished a really nice mud wrap treatment followed by a long session in the sauna, and was lying on a lounge chair in the solarium, just vibing and enjoying the moment. At least she had been. "Can I help you?" she asked the woman looming over her, also dressed in a spa robe. She looked to be a few years older than Kimiko, maybe early-mid twenties. A few strands of blonde hair had escaped the towel wrapped around her head. "Uh, yeah," the woman replied snappily. "You're in my spot!" Oh, boy. This spa catered to an elite and wealthy clientele, which unfortunately meant dealing with some of the most obnoxious and entitled snobs on the planet. Kimiko groaned internally. Externally, she did her best to keep her cool. "This is the solarium," she said. "It's a public area, and there's no assigned spots."

"For you, maybe," the woman sniffed. And Kimiko knew her next line before she opened her mouth and actually said, "Don't you have any idea who I am?"

"Nope," Kimiko said. "And if you had any idea who I am, we wouldn't be having this conversation."

"Oh, you think you're hot shit, huh?" the other woman sneered. "Ugh. If I had my kitties with me you wouldn't be so cocky!"

She turned and stalked away, leaving Kimiko to stare after her with a mixture of revulsion, amusement, and utter bewilderment. What the heck did she mean by kitties?

honestly it's kind of fun to have him be omi's kind of. straight man? foil? where in canon that was a role mostly filled by Rai, but Jermaine is very different from Rai (less hotheaded for one thing, and more on even footing with Omi whereas Rai sort of filled more of an older sibling role) so it's a different dynamic and one that's fun to explore.
