We here at PIB get his question all the time and you know what, it’s very simple.

All you have to do is reach out to us at [email protected] or [email protected] and ask. We’ll be happy to point you in the right direction and/or get you the info about our current projects.

Another method is joining our artist only private message board with direct info from the publishers and a cool meeting place for artists. You can get more info for that by heading over to pibforum.com

Yet another method is signing up for our public-facing free newsletter that drops info about projects, upcoming sales, etc. Sign up for it now at printedinblood.substack.com

Halloween:Artbook update- Fall 2021

I know this is long overdue, for that I apologize. You get to certain point in a project, and you start to believe that regardless of the actual situation, you just know that if you wait just  little bit longer things will be different or better in some way. That’s on me.

So, after a longer than expected approvals turnaround, we have essentially finalized the book layout and are waiting to hear how long the printer queue will be. We are in most respects ready to go to print abut because of the delays in supply chain and a recent paper shortage, the printing industry has gone a little haywire, schedule-wise.

We had really hoped to be shipping the book already, but we now know it will not be until next year. The earliest we think we can get the books is April 2022, but we will have a more definite answer as soon as we hear back from our print brokers.

I apologize for the radio silence and I promise to be more vocal and responsive as we get more info about this project.

Guillermo del Toro Artbook -artist updates

Greetings all, just wanted to drop a line to give a quick update to artists and fans alike.

So, we have been busy getting art together, and making some very difficult decisions. We received well over 400 submissions for the project and to date have eliminated over 100 pieces for range of reasons. I will not get into them here, in a public forum, but suffice to say It has been tough.

Now the tough part we have submitted the pieces we have chosen to get the approval of the man himself while we continue laying out the book. Needless to say, since adding the descriptor “oscar-winning” to his title, he’s been a very busy guy. We are working closely with Insight Editions and GDT’s people to arrange the best time for him to go over the pieces and give his artistic thumbs-up.

Once that has all been finalized, we will then and ONLY THEN reach out to everyone about who made it and who didn’t. I know it’s frustrating, but that’s the way it has to be. We don;t want to drag this out any longer than we have to, but we also don’t want to be the guys who tell someone they’re in, only to have to contact them weeks later and tell them, sorry not true. We hope everyone will understand and appreciate our position here

Just an FYI, emailing us directly will not get you an answer any quicker, either. ;)

We are honestly hoping by month’s end we will have some news for everyone.

Thanks so much for everyone’s interest and involvement. From what we got this time around, it looks to become another amazing project.

A word about the SDCC2017 Exclusive Pre-Orders

HI ‘THING” fans! This will serve as a sort of “FAQ” for the SDCC exclusive sales that will open on July 10th at 1pm EST/10amPST.

You must be attending the show and able to pick up the book there to order. There will be no copies of the convention exclusive shipped from the pre-orders.

You may have someone pick up the book for you. They must have a copy of the original receipt from the Printed In Blood webstore and the purchaser must contact us to give us the name of the person picking up the book. No exceptions will be allowed. If the names don’t match up, the book will not be released to the person.

Only 2 exclusive books per person are allowed to be ordered. Multiple orders and orders with more than 2 copies will be canceled and refunded.

Any leftover copies of the convention exclusive edition will be offered up for sale on the website after the show.

Each copy comes with a set of six 8.5 x 11 inch mini-prints. Artwork is all-new and not contained on the book.

We will not be pre-selling the entire run of exclusive books. If the online number sells out, copies of the convention exclusive will still be available at the show. We will be located at the Aspen Comics booth #2320.

“The Thing: Artbook”, a 35th anniversary celebration of John Carpenter’s horror masterpiece to launch at Comic-Con International 2017 this July

NYC, NY – Media production company, Printed In Blood will be launching the first release in their Artbook series, "The Thing: Artbook” this July at Comic-Con International, also referred to as “SDCC” taking place July 19-23 in San Diego, CA. This collection of over 375 new pieces of artwork created by artists, amateur and professional alike, based on and inspired by the sci-fi/horror classic. The book, which has been available for pre-order since March at their website, “printedinblood.com”, will be available for live purchase for the first time at the annual southern California mega-convention. Also available will be a very limited special SDCC convention variant edition which has a completely different cover and matching slipcase. It will be accompanied by a set of six limited edition prints of new “Thing” artwork that is NOT contained in the Artbook.

“We set out to create this book as a celebration and to show our love of this movie. The response we got from artists was massive and overwhelmingly positive.” states Printed In Blood Director of Operations, Steven Hoveke. “Once the word got out about the project we had so many artists come to us wanting to be a part of it, the project grew to twice our original planned page count. Now, with the amount of pieces that we’ve included, we feel we have produced a worthy celebration to this movie that means so much to so many.”

The 400-page book features creators from over 40 countries around the world and taps in to the creative worlds of comics, fine art, animation and illustration. A complete list of whom can be found here. It also features an introduction written by writer/director/actor and overall auteur, Eli Roth. No book about a John Carpenter film would be complete without few words from the man himself. The legendary filmmaker contributes the afterword for the book.

The Thing:Artbook - Who all is in this thing??

So, who all is involved with “The Thing:Artbook” you ask? Well, I am here to give you an answer. Listed below is the list of all the artists who have a piece that is included in the book. Some of them have more than one, some produced more than one, but we had to make hard decisions about inclusion.

When we started out on this project, an idea conceived last year in May, and once we had secured the approval from Universal Studios to move ahead, we had hoped to make it a book with primarily comic industry folks because that’s who we knew. Once we started to reach out to folks with information about the project the response was so positive, we decided to branch out a little and include some illustrator friends and designer folks. Again, the response was so overwhelmingly positive we decided to invite whoever we thought we could get on board. Then, people started coming to us as word of the project began to spread. We were blown away and humbled by the caliber of talent who have agreed to be a part of this book.

We hope you will be pleasantly surprised and excited as you go through the list below and see the participants listed. You will probably have heard about many of them already, but hopefully there will be some surprises as well.

The “The Thing: Artbook” will go live for pre-sales Tuesday March 7th at  7pm est at the link below.

The book is expected to ship the first week of July 2017.
