A 3-STAR REVIEW - The Sun Is Also A Star Book Review
Also posted on my blog: https://novelersblog.wordpress.com/
Title: The Sun Is Also A Star
Author: Nicola Yoon
Blurb: Natasha: I’m a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Not destiny. Or dreams that will never come true. I’m definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when my family is twelve hours away from being deported to Jamaica. Falling in love with him won’t be my story.
Daniel: I’ve always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents’ high expectations. Never the poet. Or the dreamer. But when I see her, I forget about all that. Something about Natasha makes me think that fate has something much more extraordinary in store—for both of us.
The Universe: Every moment in our lives has brought us to this single moment. A million futures lie before us. Which one will come true?
Plot Points
Pro’s
Diversity - This book had so much diversity, it made me squeal in happiness. This is about a Korean-American guy falling in love with a Jamaican-American girl. This book brought on cultural differences, and showed how love could overcome them all. Although, I found that a tad bit cliche, I found it veryyy sweet ☺
Depth - This book took simple lines, and turned into something more profound, and lovely. My favorite line, that was used in the book was Hope is a thing with feathers, because it doesn't really explain itself you kind of had to guess. That reminded me of The Outsiders, which I liked (review here).
Problems
Insta-love - I enjoy fantasy novels a lot. I love all the mythical creatures, that's introduced to us by the author. But when I read contemporaries I like more realistic books, so insta-love is a big no-no. Since, did play a HUGE part in the book, this affects the rating a lot. I found it impossible, that you fall in love with a girl who's swaying to music in NYC. That would never happen because A) New Yorkers, will probably tap on you, and ask you if you were okay, and B) If A didn't happen you'd get plummeted by a bunch of people, OR C) Someone would call the cops on you, cause someone will think that you're going crazy. So why on earth would it happen in this book?????
Slooooow - This book takes the course in one day (Except the epilogue) , yet it felt like a million years. I was just rolling my eyes, and waiting for them to kiss, and make up.
Characters
Natasha - I found this girl very irritating, but then I agreed with her on multiple aspects. I found her very whiny, because she always pushes Daniel away. I really dislike girls who push away guys because "it's not worth it in the end" because you know it's worth it, but YOUR NOT ADMITTING TO IT!! I liked Natasha's logic in everything, just not books. She was actually a smart protagonists. I appreciated her value in logic, and science, and everything.
Daniel - He would be put on my list of boy-friends, but halfway through the story I started disliking him too. He sounded so innocent, and sooo dreamy, and poetic. But I think the author Nicola Yoon put too much effort into making him, because he was just too poetic, and dreamy to the point it was just annoying.
Writing Style
Well I really liked the writing style, and how it switched from different P.O.V. It was wonderful, and maybe the only thing in this book that deserved 5 stars!!
Rating - 3 star
**thanks to the publisher for providing me a free copy for this review. This does not affect my opinion at all!!**

I haven’t been on tumblr for moths due to no inspiration. But I have been watching guilty crown, and aside from the cliche moves it’s pretty good. I feel like I should review this series.
