Moving into an Assisted Living Facility: Important Documents and Records to Keep at Home
No matter your age or family situation, it’s important to have your legal affairs in order. If you’re moving into an assisted living facility, then you need to make sure that these documents are organized, and your wishes known if something should happen to you. Seniorly assisted living search platform can help you find the right housing, but you should take care of your documents yourself.
Medical Documents
Whenever someone moves into a facility, the staff should know what their wishes are if their condition deteriorates while they live there. Here are some of the documents the resident or their family should prepare and have at hand:
Insurance Information – Place your Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance card where you can easily find it.
Personal Medical History – Ask for copies of your medical files from your doctors to have on hand.
Authorization for Healthcare Information – This authorization should name who can receive information about a resident’s healthcare.
Long-term Care Insurance – If you have a plan for long-term care, give a copy of the insurance information to the facility you move to and keep a copy with your other medical documents.
Durable Power of Attorney – This designates the person to handle the resident’s affairs if they cannot make decisions themselves.
Living Will – This document states what care the resident wants if they should have a life- threatening heart attack, stroke, or another incidence occur.
HIPAA laws allow you to request and receive copies of your medical records from your doctor, so request them and keep them on hand in case they are needed.
End of Life Documents
If you’re moving into a facility, your end of life documents should be kept where they can be easily found.
Show the person you designate as your Power of Attorney where they are kept and how to contact your lawyer about legal documents they have regarding your end of life decisions. These documents may include:
Will – Your attorney will have a copy in their office, but you should tell the person who is your executor about the will’s existence.
Trust Documents – Your attorney will also have these in his or her office.
Life Insurance Policies – Show the Power of Attorney or a trusted family member where they are kept.
End of Life Instructions – Outline what your wishes are for your funeral and memorial service, and where you want to be buried, as well as plot information if you have one, in a letter for your family.
Organ Donor Card – If you want to be an organ donor, make sure your family members are aware of your desires since timing for donation is important.
Financial Documents
Although your attorney may have copies of these, you should also have copies of them where they can be easily found. These documents include:
Bank Account Records – This includes checking, savings, Certificates of Deposits, and information on a safe deposit box if you have one.
Vehicle Titles – Make sure your car, truck, and other vehicle titles are up-to-date before moving into a facility.
Tax Returns – You should keep at least three years of records on hand.
Deeds to Property – Make sure this information is easily found if something happens to you.
Credit Accounts – Include credit cards and records of loans and debts in this file.
Appoint a financial Power of Attorney if you have substantial assets to take care of business for you.
There are many more documents you should have on hand like marriage certificates, divorce papers, and death certificates for your deceased relatives. Make sure the appropriate people know where to find your documents if something were to happen to you.

The hot poop on the latest high tech loos
They not only wash and dry your bottom, they light up your life.
Bidet toilets are healthier, cleaner and actually even save water. (It takes less to clean your bottom than it does to make toilet paper.) Seventy-eight percent of Japanese homes have them, but they are still not very common in North America. This is a shame, because they really are wonderful. (See Why I spent $1200 on a toilet seat and why you should too.) That sticker shock might be one reason, but if you have the bucks to flush, there are some great new options. Design site Architizer is doing a roundup of the latest loos.
Perhaps the most interesting one is the new Toto Neorest, which, for some reason, they show in a fancy apartment with two rolls of toilet paper on a stand. It has a warm air bottom dryer that works perfectly well. At least this one isn’t in a living room.
But what is really fascinating is the new ewater+ cleaning system. Before you use the toilet it sprays a mist of water that keeps poop from sticking to the bowl. Then “after each flush, TOTO’s eWater+ mists the bowl with electrolyzed water, reducing the need for harsh cleaning chemicals.”
At first I thought that must be Brawndo from Idiocracy (it’s got electrolytes!), but in fact, according to Wikipedia, it “is produced by the electrolysis of ordinary tap water containing dissolved sodium chloride. The electrolysis of such salt solutions produces a solution of hypochlorous acid and sodium hydroxide. The resulting water is a known cleanser and disinfectant / sanitizer.”
This all sounds good, as the really low flush Toto needs a lot of brushing to keep clean.
Then there is Duravit’s SensoWash, designed by Philippe Starck. According to Architizer, it was developed for the American market.
The flat lid and seat are composed of a robust scratch-resistant and pore-free surface, which can be easily removed with a single hand. This outstanding element of practicality allows for easier, quicker cleaning, thus making SensoWash Slim an ideal solution in public or semipublic settings.
The too-long video explains how it all works quite nicely. And it has a night light!
There is also the Kohler Veil, which at $4,500 is a bargain compared to the do-anything go-anywhere Numi. “A remote control activates and adjusts touch-free opening and closing of the lid and seat and dual flush, heated seat and bidet functions.” But you do have to handle the remote control. I am waiting for Siri or Alexa connected toilets where you don’t have to touch anything.
There are less expensive alternatives. Architizer also lifts the lid on the American Standard AT100 bidet toilet seat that can be added to most American toilets. There are a number of different brands of add-on bidet seats that are available from under US $400 and there are non-electric add-ons that start at as little as US $30; see all your options here. I used one for years before I got the Toto and they are just fine; the hot water and air dryer are luxuries, not necessities if you are after a clean bottom.
You don’t have to spend $1,200 on a Toto or $7,500 on a Numi for your Case Study House. But really, you should try a bidet toilet at any price. You will like it.
They not only wash and dry your bottom, they light up your life.

E-M1 mk2 Olympus
I know many of you have been following my trials using the Olympus E-M1 mk2 and reading my thoughts about this camera and why I have changed from using the Fuji system to Olympus, I have promised I shall provide my experiences using this camera at my next wedding where I shall be using the Olympus E-M1 as my main camera.
Just as a quick blog, I wanted to upload these images that I took at the beautiful Stourhead property in Mere today, out for a walk with my lovely wife.
I have mentioned many times before how I loved the Fuji system and understood the need to change my approach to my wedding photography in order to get the best out of the Fuji system however I did at times feel that i had missed certain shots, even though the focusing has improved massively, at times the Fuji just seemed to miss focus.
I had to add the above image of this little lad, I saw that he was chasing this bird and lifted the camera and fired 5 shots, each one was in focus; now I know we all agree that Fuji have definitely improved their focus however, I know I would have missed this shot if I was using my Fuji Xpro2, or I would have got the shot but the camera would have back focused or something like that, either way, the Olympus nailed each frame!
I wanted to add these images from todays walk and to say yet again, that since using the Olympus E-M1 mk2, I haven't lost one shot, due to the focus missing its mark, I can literally point and shoot.
Quick article I know but I just wanted to put my thoughts into writing and provide a few more images from this wonderful camera.

Hotels defy consumer spending decline in December
Consumer spending continued to fall in the month of December with a 1% decline, however hotels managed to defy the trend – with spending having increased by 7.6%.
This is according to Visa’s UK Consumer Spending Index, which showed that overall expenditure declined 1% year-on-year in December – the fastest decline seen since April.
However hotels and restaurants outperformed other UK sectors in December, and experienced the joint-quickest rate of increase in the past 20 months.
For the whole of 2018 Visa’s index found expenditure has fallen in eight months of the year, underscoring “a relatively weak overall picture of household spending”. Lower expenditure was largely driven by a disappointing performance by the high street, as ‘face-to-face’ spending fell -1.6% on an annual basis in December. Visa also found that online spending remained “relatively subdued”, with expenditure rising by just 0.5% year-on-year.
Adolfo Laurenti, European principal economist at Visa, said: “The further decline in UK consumer spending in December 2018 is a disappointment, but not a surprise. Notwithstanding a backdrop of low unemployment and rising wages, households remained very cautious at the end of the year – as they were for most of 2018.
“An acceleration in spending at hotels, restaurants and bars (+7.6% year-on-year) suggests that some categories of discretionary spending are holding up better than the market as a whole. And the modest pickup in ecommerce point to the resilience of digital channels of distribution, a favorable long-term trend that recent woes have not derailed.”

University launches new Centre for Doctoral Training
The CDT in Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems has received £5 million funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), and will produce graduates who will bring together the many technical disciplines and skills needed to allow propulsion systems to transition to a more sustainable future.
Bath will train a cohort of high quality research leaders through intensive research projects within its new £60 million automotive propulsion research facility – the Institute for Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems (IAAPS).
The CDT cohort will have the opportunity to develop invaluable skills using the latest state-of-the-art testing facilities in a purpose-built research institute, ensuring the UK maintains and expands its global position within the automotive sector.
These specialist facilities will make IAAPS a centre of excellence for training and skills development in automotive engineering, supporting new Apprenticeships, Honours Degrees, Masters and Doctoral courses, helping to address the engineering skills shortage facing the UK automotive sector.
The CDT will be multidisciplinary in its approach, drawing upon a 50-strong academic supervisor pool from a variety of complementary disciplines at the University of Bath. A diverse range of graduates will be recruited from across a range of first degrees including engineering, sciences, management and social sciences.
In total 86 studentships have been secured, 40 funded by the EPSRC, 20 by the University and 26 by the University’s industrial partners. Cohort members will work with, and alongside, global industrial partners. This immersive experience within a rich collaborative environment will ensure they are developing both the technical and the interpersonal skills needed to succeed in such a progressive industry.
Programme Lead and Professor of Automotive Propulsion at the University of Bath, Chris Brace, said:
By creating an environment for our graduates to research new propulsion systems and the wider context within which they sit, we will nurture individuals who will lead the scientific, technological, and behavioural changes required to develop future generations of ultra-low emission, sustainable vehicles.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) at the University of Bath, Professor Jonathan Knight, commented:
I am delighted the University has been successful in establishing this highly important and exciting Centre for Doctoral Training. The CDT in Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems, as part of IAAPS, will cement Bath’s role in supporting the UK automotive sector.
These cohorts will support IAAPS in addressing one of the most pressing challenges of our age - the struggle to provide truly sustainable, affordable, connected, zero emissions transport needed by both industrialised and emerging economies.
UKRI’s Chief Executive, Professor Sir Mark Walport said:
Highly talented people are required to tackle key global challenges such as sustainable energy and cyber security, and provide leadership across industries and our public services.
Centres for Doctoral Training provide them with the support, tools and training they need to succeed, and the involvement of 1,400 project partners underlines how much industry and the charity sector value this approach.
IAAPS will be a global centre of excellence, delivering transformational research and innovation into advanced propulsion systems.
Located at the Bristol and Bath Science Park in the South West of England, it will lead the development of future generations of ultra-low emission and zero-impact vehicles, and attract sector-related businesses to the region, generating economic growth.
Scheduled to open in late 2020, IAAPS will support the automotive industry to deliver rapid R&D that will accelerate the transition from low carbon to zero carbon vehicles. IAAPS will have the capability to complete research across all propulsion types, including fully electric and hybrid powertrains.

Planning for Detention Under the Mental Health Act: Challenges and opportunities
Jeremy Dixon is a Lecturer in Social Work in the Department of Social and Policy Sciences at the University of Bath. His research interests focus around the sociology of mental health and illness, and the sociology of risk and uncertainty.
Julie Bevan is an expert by experience having used secondary mental health services over the past 30 years. She worked in Voluntary Sector mental health services as a support worker, and has been working as a mental health trainer for various organisations including Avon and Wiltshire mental health partnership.
Detention under the Mental Health Act can be traumatic for service users and their families. Whilst most people with mental health problems are treated in the community, they may be detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 in the interests of their own health, their safety, or for the protection of other people. The decision about whether to detain an individual is made by an Approved Mental Health Professional and two doctors. Such decisions are ethically challenging because they involve removing a person’s autonomy, allowing them to be detained and given medication against their will.
The Government sees detention under the Mental Health Act as necessary for the protection of people with mental health problems and the wider public. However, they have also expressed concerns that professionals are over-using their powers. In 2017, the Prime Minister highlighted that detentions under the Mental Health Act had grown steeply, with 50% more people being detained in 2015-16 than ten years previously. These concerns led the Government to commission an Independent Review of the Mental Health Act which reported in 2018. A key task of this review was to determine whether the Act included the correct checks and balances to protect patient’s rights.  An important finding was that the Government needed to do more to protect the rights of detained patients. Specifically, the report noted that the mental health system needed to be,
"more responsive to the wishes and preferences of the patient, to take more account of a person’s rights and to improve the ability of patients to make choices even where their own circumstances make this far from easy” (2018, p. 12).
The Independent Review of the Mental Health Act argued for a ‘re-balancing of treatment decisions’ so that greater weight is given to the wishes of the patient. They recommended that patients should be helped to complete a Statutory Advance Choice Document (ACDs) stating their wishes and preferences about treatment. An ACD would include information about a person’s treatment preferences, what treatments they do not want, who should be consulted if they were detained, and communication and cultural preferences. The ACD would also include the person’s views about what behaviours might signal a relapse in their mental health problems and their views on the type of crisis care they would like to receive.
Under these proposals, people who are detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 would still be able to be treated against their will. However, clinicians would need to show that they had taken reasonable steps to find the ACD, and that they had taken account of its contents or would need to give written reasons for not doing so. In addition to this, Mental Health Tribunals, who hear patient appeals against detention, would be able consider how far the ACD had been taken into consideration, which would inform their view about whether further detention was warranted.
Following the review, the Government has accepted that people should be able to express their wishes and preferences through ACDs, and has stated that they will change the law accordingly. Although, there is some danger that this decision will be kicked into the Brexit ‘long grass’ with ministers stating that this will happen ‘when parliamentary time allows’.
We welcome the new proposals for ACDs, however ACDs are not entirely new. There have been measures in place for some time to promote ‘advanced statements’ – a statement to record a person’s wishes, treatment preferences, and beliefs - although, there have been several drawbacks with this. Advanced statements are often not known about by mental health staff, and the use of advanced statements across mental health trusts has also been patchy. Additionally, advanced statements are not legally enforceable, meaning that they can easily ignored by clinicians.
The proposal by the Independent Review to make ACDs visible to clinicians and enforceable is welcome, however there are several potential difficulties. The Government has a record of encouraging people to plan for the future whilst they have mental capacity, but the public is often reluctant to do this on the grounds that they find it difficult to think about managing unpleasant events. The issue of how ACDs come to be considered by clinicians and Tribunals will also be crucial. It is currently easy for clinicians to dismiss the views of individuals who are detained under the Mental Health Act, because the Mental Health Act allows for compulsory treatment, even when the person has mental capacity. In our experience, there is a danger that clinicians can reject the views of people with mental health problems on the grounds that they ‘lack insight’ due to their mental illness. This response can be invalidating for the person in hospital, especially when they have gone through the often-difficult process of writing an advanced directive in the first place. This can then lead to a lack of trust between the person detained and mental health services in the future.
Several things may be done to overcome these difficulties. We acknowledge that people may find it difficult to plan for the future. One way to overcome this would be to encourage key workers or Independent Mental Health Act Advocates to help people complete ACDs, as the review suggests. Reviewing ACDs regularly may also increase engagement. This is because it may be difficult for people to anticipate their wishes and preferences when they are new to the mental health system. Reviewing ACDs after admission should also enable individuals to reflect on their experience and to record which treatments were helpful and what they would want to be done differently in the future. Measures may also be taken to assure individuals that their views will be respected. ACDs should be completed where individuals have the mental capacity to make decisions about their future treatment, and key-workers should sign ACDs to confirm that the individual had capacity at the time of making the plan. Whilst compulsory treatment could still be given, this could no longer be justified on the basis that the person ‘lacked insight’ into the relevant treatments.
Lastly, we would acknowledge that key workers in mental health services are extremely stretched and advocacy services are patchy. Therefore, if ACDs are to have a reasonable chance of success, ring-fenced resources will need to be provided to help people with mental health problems create them.

NEWNESS UPDATE & RANT OF THE DAY: Spring 2019 Test Candles Take 3
A "new" collection has popped up in test stores as a spring preview - the "Farmhouse Collection"
Now, with the name "Farmhouse", you would probably imagine candles of rustic looking labels - gingham tableclothes, wooden crates, old wood gates, farm markets, bales of hay etc.
Nope, not so much. The labels are...Aztec print!
Odd choice but whatever. Maybe the scents will make up for it..you would think.
Again, with the name "Farmstand", it conjures images of wares at a farmers markets - fresh, ripe fruits like strawberries or melons, jams/preserves, some warm apple pie. Or maybe something conceptual - fresh spring air, dewy green grass, wind-beaten wood.
Once again, nope not so much. It's an amalgamation of random wtf-ery that have absolutely nothing to do with farmstands or Aztecs.
The only new scent is..
Sunlit Cashmere - Moroccan Jasmine, creamy coconut, orange flower blossom (sounds like White Jasmine from Le French collection. it also sounds like Coconut Lime Breeze and White Drifttwood)
Returning scents include Black Cherry Merlot, Butterscotch Toffee, Cactus Blossom, Sunwashed Citrus, The Original, White Gardenia, White Sage & Aloe (aka Wild Sage & Aloe)
See what I mean?! Random AF right?!
Here's my rant...
I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sick and damned tired of collections that don't make any sense! Just random scents thrown haphazardly together - no theme, no cohesion, no thought! Backintheday, some serious thought and consideration were put into what candle went into what collection and what the overall theme and takeaway of the collection was. Not anymore; anything goes nowadays. And the Basic Bettys of America will buy them up happily and overhype them to death on social media.
And what annoys me even more is that BBW seriously expects me and other diehard candle connoisseurs to pay extra for this crap!
Now I'm not an idiot and I understand the concept of inflation and making up cost. However, call me naive but I believe in price hikes for certain first world items to have a level of quality to match.
You remember that word BBW? QUALITY?
You shortened the burn time to con folks into buying more, the wicks are perpetually craptastic, throws are virtually Yankee Candle level nonexistant and on top of all of the that, the candle choices are WHACK! It's either the same basic re-releases over and damn over or lackluster scents that hardly anyone wanted or asked for.
Furthermore, more thought is put into the labels than the scents themselves; your labels have more quality than the damn candle..what kind of sense does that make? You really expect me, The Bronze Blogger, to pay more...for a damn label?!
Now you can fool yourself into believeing you're safe by marketing to folks with more money than scents who will gladly "buy candles for the packages".. but these individuals are for and few in between. Most of us have better things to do with our hard earned money than pay extra for a candle we don't want JUST beacuse of the packaging.
Surely you have to have noticed that sales have slipped recently because of the sales price hike and besides th Sweet Shop 2.0, you haven't released ANYTHING exciting! I personally have not bought a candle since Candle Day and haven't stepped inside a store since my last WALK N SNIFF...and I'm ok with that! Is that what you want BBW? Indifference?! Cuz you're getting it in spades!
I feel like I'm pissing in the wind by saying this but I will continue to until they listen...
GET IT TO-DAMN-GETHER BBW!!!

How Does a Coffee Pod Work?
For many coffee lovers, nothing feels better than waking up to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. Not only does coffee improve your energy levels, but can also help you burn fat and drastically improve your physical performance. Having a quality cup of coffee is one of life’s simple pleasures that can be enjoyed at home, with friends or during the coffee break in the office.
If you love your coffee strong but hate the complicated and messy process of grinding coffee beans, then a coffee pod is just what you need.
What Is A Coffee Pod And How Does It Work?
Coffee pods also referred to as coffee pads look precisely the same as tea bags except that they are coffee. These pre-packaged ground coffee beans have become an all-time favorite in many offices and homes due to their time efficiency.  With a coffee pod, grinding coffee, measuring quantities and checking temperatures becomes a thing of the past. With the press of a button, you can enjoy your favorite cup of coffee in minutes.
Secondly, coffee pods provide consistency of taste. Ground coffee tastes really good when its fresh but after a few days the taste alters due to oxygen exposure. Since coffee pods are individually packed, the flavor and aroma are maintained for a longer period of time. This means that you will enjoy a consistent taste with every cup. Once you find your perfect taste, you can stick with it forever.
The best way to use coffee pods is by investing in a quality pod coffee maker. However, you can also brew your coffee pod without a machine. Check out the Hot Coffee World reviews for the best pod coffee maker machine.
How Does A Coffee Pod Machine Work?
The process of brewing your favorite cup of coffee using a coffee pod machine is simple. Start by loading water into the tank or basin. Be sure to use cool, clean filtered or distilled water to avoid buildup of minerals that can damage your machine.
Carefully remove the pod from its packaging and put it inside the coffee machine.  Set your machine to the strength you want your coffee to be. Ideally, your machine should have a strong, medium or light preference. Once you start the machine, the water will heat up to the perfect temperature and the high-pressure water will push into the coffee pod to release the flavor. Your perfectly brewed coffee will drip into your cup as the coffee grounds are filtered to prevent them from falling into your coffee.
What Should You Consider When Buying A Pod Coffee Maker?
When buying a pod coffee machine, there are several things you should put into consideration.  Decide on your budget and buy a machine that will give you value for money. Think about the size as well. If you have a big family or you are used to having friends over all the time, then you will need to focus on the size of the tank. A tank that takes up to 45 ounces will be most ideal. You will also need to look at other details such as safety features and quality of materials.

BLAST FROM THE PAST: Frankincense (2017)
Products: candle and wf bulb Area used in: bedroom Time Period: end of November - New Year's
Description: Frankincense, Clove, Amber
With Christmas Day right around the corner, I couldn't think of a better time to talk about this candle.. y'know...birth of Christ (though technically he was born in the spring), Mary and Jospeh hangin out in Bethlehem, gifts from the Three Kings of the Orient following a star... yada, yada, yada.
So this candle came out unceremoniously in the winter edition of the Elements collection back in 2017. Despite it being a new scent (as far I knew/know) and smelling genuine authentic, for whatever reason I completely slept it and its brother Myrrh. I think I was too focused on and enraptured by Peppermint Rosemary and Grapefruit Gin Fizz.  I would eventually pick one up later during the folowing SAS and it sat collecting dust until recently and I thought this Christmastime would be an excellent time to give it a try.
So you may be wondering what exactly is frankincense?
Frankincense, also known as olibanum, comes from the Old French word "franc ensence" meaning high/pure/noble incense. It is a resin tapped from the Boswellia sacra tree. The bark of the tree is tapped over and over until the resin bleeds out and drops are left to harden into solid beads or "tears". Frankincense was used as holy incense in temples and religious ceremonies from the time of Ancient Egyptians til the Middles Ages. Frankincense essential oil is said to have many beneficial holistic properties including a sleep aid, reducing stressing, assisting digestion, heals skin an kills most germs.
Here's a bit of trivia for you - why was frankincense as well as myrrh and gold given to the Christ child by the Magi?
As you can imagine, all 3 items were expensive, highly prized and hard to readily obtain treasures back in the those ancient days.
Those items also served as symbolic and prophetic foreshadowing of Jesus' life
Gold = royal divinity ie Jesus taking his place as "King of the Jews" as a descendant of King David
Frankincense = holy healing properties ie Jesus using his divine power to heal the masses metaphorically and literally
Myrrh = death (myrrh oil was commonly used to annoint the dead) ie Jesus dying for our sins and leaving behind his annointed mortal shell (btw in many languages including Spanish and Japanese, the word for mummy comes from the word myrrh - mirra)
But enough of that nerdy nonsense, on to the review!
The burn was kinda iffy - the first couple of burns, the flames weren't very high and it took awhile for the wax to pool out. The throw was pretty strong, almost on the cusp of being a knock-out; the wf is pretty strong too. The closer it got to mid-range, it sart to smell a little astrigent and medicinal; I'm ok with that but I thought I'd give a headsup to tose who might find that off-putting. This segues nicely into the smell portion of the review.   The candle smells EXACTLY like actual frankincence. I have a bottle of frankincence essential oil so I'm familiar withe fragrance and was able to compare.
What does frankincence smell like? It's beautiful and complex melange of notes, one on top of the other. First you get a sweet almost honey like wood base. Then there's sharp astringent piney vibe, think cypress. And there's lemon peel/zest like citrusiness. And then there's a touch of spice, like black pepper and cinnamon bark. And as far as the candle is concerned, you get the frankincense note and the clove and amber gives the blend a sensual warmth. This is one of those scents that captures you and takes you away on olfactory adventure. It whisks you back to ancient Biblical days; you can imagine yourself returning home from the marketplace and resting on a bevy of silken pillows and you can smell traces of incense from the nearby temple traveling on a nighttime breeze.
Frankincence was/is such a gorgeous scent and soooo overlooked and underappreciated, hence why it has returned. I still kick myself for not taking advantage of it being widely and readily available. It's certainly a lesson learned - don't sleep on a scent that intrigues cuz most likely it will disappear never to return. Hopefully BBW well come to their senses and bring this back at some point; they have been more adventurous with conceptual scents lately and not just catering to the basic masses. Given its significance to Christmas and the story of the birth of Christ, this is a fitting scent to have during the holidays. Fingers crossed, it'll return. If not, there's always Ebay.
I'd like to end this review by wishing all of my readers a happy holiday. Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah and Joyous Kwanzaa!

Same computer password for the last 10 years?
Technology used in exercise and lifestyle apps may hold the key to answering that most difficult of challenges – getting people to change their passwords and better protect their online privacy and data.
Over the last five years the cost of cyberattacks is reported to have risen by 67%, with the majority of these data breaches being traced back to human error. It is anticipated that 75% of UK companies plan to address human factors in cyberattacks in the next three years in an attempt to mitigate this.
Taking inspiration from exercise and fitness apps that successfully nudge people to make behavioural change, researchers from the University of Bath and Goldsmiths, University of London are investigating whether a simple device that plugs in to a PC and signals when action is needed with gentle sound, lights or vibration could make the difference.
People routinely put off, ignore or forget cyber security measures such as changing passwords, updating privacy settings and locking computer screens. And traditional cyber security training is failing to galvanise people to act on straightforward security measures.
Dr Emily Collins, Research Associate at the University of Bath’s School of Management, said: “Humans are the weak link in cyber security. We know that people feel overloaded with data breaches reported in the news and overwhelmed about what they should be doing to protect themselves. Many of us know we’re not on top of security, but translating that nagging worry into positive action just isn’t happening. It’s leaving us all open to serious security threats.”
The researchers hope the project, with funding from the Home Office via the National Cyber Security Programme, will help to build better habits through a subtle desktop reminder designed to gently nudge people into action without it becoming an annoyance or distraction.
“Work-based training on cyber security is generally very conventional, often just delivered as a one-off when people join an organisation. There’s scope to learn from health psychology to pinpoint what motivates people to take action to protect their cyber security. Our project recognises that people can respond to a gentle, well-timed nudge and is investigating the most effective way of doing that,” Dr Collins said.
The project, entitled Encouraging cyber security behaviour through gentle interventions: Can ambient displays support users in making more secure decisions? will use Adafruit Circuit Playgrounds, which can be programmed to detect when people leave their desks for example and remind them to lock their screen through a sequence of lights, sounds or vibrations.
The research team will create a working prototype with open-source code to be available to businesses later in the year. It could be tailored for home use in the future.
Dr Sarah Wiseman, lecturer in computer science at Goldsmiths, University of London, said: “The Adafruit Circuit Playgrounds are a fantastic opportunity to do some rapid prototyping with participants. The inbuilt functionality on the boards means that you don't need much experience with electronics to take a concept from idea to reality."
The research team, including Dr Joanne Hinds, Research Associate at Bath, is inviting people to take part in a creative element of the study by drawing their cyber security concerns and solutions. The findings will help the team to develop more innovative, creative ways to tackle cyber security problems. Find out how to take part.
