Having a LOT of feelings about SuperEyepatchWolf's most recent deep dive into games that don't actually exist
He definitely hits the nail on the head early on when he discusses how fake screenshots and clips speak to people in the millennial age range by invoking nostalgia in a very specific way. I also like that he brings up deliberately emulating hardware and software requirements for these things to have the right feeling.
And the line of "The worst video game you've ever played is a miracle" was a bit of a throwaway, but it made me sit up and pay attention because he's very right.
if you play video games long enough you see the fandoms treat black characters the same way over and over and over again (wyll ravengard, felix iresso, preston garvey, vivienne de fer, etc etc etc)
I think the NCR/Brotherhood direction they took was odd. To decamate the NCR and determine "oh yeah the Brotherhood are basically thriving, internal politics nonwithstanding" Felt weird.
While it was a decent twist and does a good job of really beating the "VAULT TEC IS EVIL, GUYS", dead horse, the final revelation rubbed me the wrong way. I thought the whole like... point is that it doesn't really matter who dropped the first bomb. The result was the same. The world shouldn't have gotten to that point. I know people LOVE to debate who nuked who first, but I think they miss the point of it all
To conserve space on the cartridge, Super Mario Bros. does not save information about every individual background tile in a level separately. Instead, common tile arrangements are represented in the code with a single object each, which allow them to take up a fraction of the space that storing each individual block's coordinate would.
In addition, if some of these objects are placed near each other, they will use a mathematical function called convolution to affect each other's shape to produce an object that is a combination of the two. The footage shows two staircase objects being dragged around in a level editor. Note how when they approach each other, they modify each other's shape, allowing the developers to create even more unique tile arrangements at even less cost.

virtual lab for the virtual boy was ahead of its time. you're telling me this 1995 body horror puzzle game had a trans woman's big tittied self insert character in it? that describes, like, several games on itch
would it make me sound like a conspiracy theorist if I said I think part of the reason the NCR is almost nonexistent in the tv show is their closest parallel is the actual US military and there's not really a way to portray them as NOT deeply incompetent and aggressive, which would have made a consultation/supervision from the department of defense awkward to say the least

How it's going:
