I used to work in phone customer service for a busy luxury department store (lots of demand). One time over Christmas when we were doing very long hours, I called my dad right after work to catch up, and instead of saying “bye dad” at the end I informed him “thank you for taking my call!”

I worked with toddlers and pre schoolers for three years. Sometimes I accidentally slip and tell a friend to say bye to an inanimate object (“say bye bus!”) & occasionally they unthinkingly just do it.
