nobuddy feels like they have a sharp attention span these days, right? and we all just click “agree on terms of service” because its hard to love yourself sometimes, well
enter Terms of Service, Didn’t Read: a website and a browser addon that streamlines the terms of service of many popular web services to be read by the tech sunday drivers.
Tumblr media
It’s graded from A (great) to E (awful) and if you have the addon you have access to the info about the website on your bar

bitches be like “oooo but it’s not that Sirius needs to be short, he can be tall, Remus is just taller!!! Remus is such a lanky, gangling boy!!!” you people want Remus to be of Weasley height soooo bad. If you want a smart, poor, tall, awkward man, then there is already someone around their age range who fits the bill: Arthur Weasley. They’re just too cowardly to ship Sirthur, and it is actually devastating.

Is it just me or is every Sirius fanart these days look like some random white woman influencer on tiktok who just got lip injections and is wearing seven layers of professional contour.
Don’t forget about the liposuction

you know what's so exhausting and disheartening? i love black!remus headcanons and i used to get so excited when i saw ANYONE share the same feeling (black hcs are practically non-existent. usually when racebending characters they are all just ambiguously brown often light skinned) but it's gotten to the point where i reflexively shy away from it now because making a white character black almost ALWAYS means to make them more "masculine" and dominant. especially when the other half of a ship is white like you said. it's just fans using blackness as a way to make a statement about the character's "role" in the relationship.
I’m so sorry anon. That would be so disheartening and even frustrating!!! Black Remus is beautiful but the way people depict him next to a tiny white feminine Sirius, changing Remus’ canon height to super tall, making him buff and angrier and dominant, is weird as fuck. Black Remus who is soft and kind and hides his anger until he’s around someone he feels safe and not judged by!!! Black Remus who is adored by his parents!!
Like at this point, it really is concerning the amount of casual racism that goes unchecked in this fandom. My block list is at an all time high and like it’s ridiculous how jegulus and wolfstar treat characters of colour next to white characters just so they can have the ‘dynamic’ they want, even if that means ALWAYS making the white character short, hairless, feminine, ect….. it’s weird! It’s uncomfortable! It’s tone death! And at times it’s even hypocritical because of the amount of people that preach against jkr and about better representation but then turn around and do their white queer thing without a care or thought. It’s disappointing.

You know what’s astonishing about Katara? She grew up in a world without bending.
It’s not surprising that Sokka calls her bending ‘magic water’ in the first episode. It might as well have been magic to them at that point; they had never seen it in practice until they meet Aang.
So not only did Katara not have any teachers, she didn’t have any kind of guidance, no visual aids, no idea of how bending is supposed to look or work. The first time she ever sees actual waterbending movements is when she steals the waterbending scroll from the pirates. The first time she meets another waterbender is when she reaches the North Pole, where within weeks she outmasters pretty much everyone and goes on to teach the Avatar.
Everything she does is so incredibly impressive, and yet I can’t help but feel the most proud of her when she catches a fish on that little boat.

a lil trend has been doing on over on art twitter where people are doing a canon vs fanon thing re: characters and tropes and it didn't take long for it to turn antiblack because these people are predictable and very, very stupid.

"Fandom is just for fun/escapism" means there's no quality threshold to meet to be allowed to contribute, and it is generally a space to share a common love for something rather than spend time hating.
It does NOT mean "everyone gets to publicly say, write and draw absolutely anything and be free from criticism, nothing can possibly have ties to real life harmful ideas and reinforce them, nothing should be taken seriously, everyone turns their brain off and analyzing fan content is pointless", especially since that attitude will automatically allow bigoted content to flourish and will push marginalized people out of fan spaces, or at the very least make those spaces hostile and put them in a position where they have to argue with the bigots empowered by that attitude. If it’s escapism, then make it an escapism that’s accessible to most people, which means being mindful of the consequences of the content put out, or else you’re just creating more spaces minorities are excluded from

I think I am annoyed enough to write about it, actually. Here's why "curate your space" and "don't like, don't read" and "fandom safe spaces" fail to work for everyone:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
People don't usually don't tag for racism and misogyny. It's just fandom as usual for way too many fans. And asking them to tag for it? Is taken as a personal attack. Because the suggestion that they might have have done something racist or misogynistic is far more hurtful and offensive in their mind than what they actually wrote.
The argument that someone's properly tagged niche fetish fic will damage society is bs but fandom at large exists on a sliding scale of casually to actively racist and misogynistic. The queer utopian fandom experience is really only true for people who get on board with whatever the most popular ship is in the fandom--usually mlm, sometimes m/f, only vanishingly rarely wlw. Almost always white. Most fans don't see the racism and misogyny as an issue because their wants and needs are being met in fandom. If other fans are unhappy? "Curate your space!" But you can't curate out a systemic problem.
If you think your fandom doesn't have a racism or misogyny problem, you're probably happily living in that popular ship bubble.
