In the early part of the 17th century holdovers from the Tudor period continued to be in style, but soon enough the iconic ruff would evolve into delicate soft and standing lace collars. By the 1620s women's fashion - and by extension their accessories - became a lot more simple. Hats kept growing in size from the previous century, both in width and height. Pearls were HUGELY popular as they were a way to display wealth. In fact, it's hard to find a woman's portrait from this period that doesn't feature pearl jewellery. New Milestone: Had a Baby 🍼

Baby is here! Baby arrived a couple weeks ago and we've been soaking up all the little snuggles and adjusting to our new day-to-day.

Both baby and I are doing well but it might be a little while before I'm posting regularly again.

As time marched on, Wilhelmina found herself expecting once more. Despite appearances of smooth sailing, Edwin took it upon himself to be exceptionally attentive to her needs. Scarred by the challenging journey of Thomas's pregnancy, he harbored a deep fear that Wilhelmina might endure another arduous ordeal.

That same night, Josephine snuck into Lucy's bedroom to hear about the encounter.

"Oh, it's so exciting, sister! You must tell me everything. Did you like him?" Josephine said giddily.

"Yes... He was perfectly fine, but we didn't really get to speak much. It was mostly father and Mr. Goth who did the talking."

"Well, I'm sure father will set up another meeting soon. Oh, I can't take it! A wedding! I shall wear my prettiest dress."

"But, what if I don't want to marry him? I would like to choose for myself. If father chooses for me, then it won't be true love." Lucy sighed. She wanted to tell her sister the truth, but she wasn't sure how she would take it.

"Well, why not? You don't even know him yet. You said so yourself. If you got to know him, you'd maybe fall in love with him. Love takes time... I think."

"That's not the point, Josie. I don't think I want to marry any man that father introduces me to. He just... He wants to sell us off like priced pigs to whoever has the most money. I don't want that." Lucy said.

"Lucy! That is not true! He is a good man. He wants us to live good lives. After all, no one wants to marry poor. We should consider ourselves lucky to have a father who cares who we marry." Josephine was shocked to hear her sister speaking ill of their father. She had never heard anything like it.

The sims I shared weren't made by me, I haven't checked lately but if the post isn't there anymore it probably means the original poster deleted them. I've also found great versions of each character on the gallery, so I would highly suggest searching there.

Caroline’s Holiday Dress

200 Followers Gift: 19th-century Men's Lookbook

Finally, here it is. A gift to you all for getting my follower count up to a whole 200. I know it's not a huge milestone, but I'm excited about it, and I'm glad so many other people are interested in the things I make. As of right now I have 212 followers, and there were only about 190 students at my elementary school. That's weird. That's a lot of people.

This is a more informal lookbook than my usual ones. I haven't really gone all in on the photo editing. It's more of a timeline of fashion than a true lookbook. Note that it's a mix of casual wear (1810, 1820, 1830, 1850), regular daywear (1800, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1890) and evening wear (1840).

Advent Calendar 2023, Day X and XVII: Tenues d'hiver pour enfants

SURPRISE!

I told you it would be worth the wait!

I know there are few dates where I've been behind. But I thank you for your patience. Working 13 hours a day six days a week on top of being super sick, and then staying up into the late hours to make sure posts went out has been quite a lot for me. But things are coming!

I'm finally able to release the gifts that were due the last two Sundays (Dec 10 and 17th)! There were last minute drama's for each of them, but they are now fit and ready to go!

A huge thank you once again to @historicalfictionsims for her help in converting the dress from an adult frame to a child frame. Many may remember the dress in my previous advent calendar, as it was worn on one of my deco sims, but the dress was too broken and I didn't have any knowledge of how to fix it at the time. So with her help I was able to finally make this dress functional! And of course a huge thank you to @buzzardly28 as well for helping with all the clipping issues! We did it! <3
