Okay Parramatta, do your thing... Tamara needs our help. #Repost @humansofthehospital ・・・ “Doctors have amputated all of my limbs except my right hand after severe complications due to pneumonia. My condition is fatal in 50 per cent of cases so I am lucky to be alive. Since May, I’ve spent every day inside hospital. Before this, I had good health. I was happy, running around and I didn’t stop. Nothing could stop me. I didn’t have time to be sick. Out of the blue, I fell ill and my family was told I could die. Now, I am learning how to walk again. My fight has been mental and physical. I have seven beautiful and supportive kids, aged 19 to five-year-old twins. My husband has also stuck by me. I know he’s always had my back, but never like this. I have to be strong for my family. I am so grateful for the best support from my surgeons, doctors and nurses and the encouragement of people throughout the hospital that I have grown to love. I hope to spend my first day out of hospital on Christmas day. If I can face this, anybody can do it. I don’t ever think why me, I think why not me. The man upstairs said 'you haven’t had enough challenges yet, so get working, you need something to do.'” - Tamara Impellizzeri, Westmead Hospital patient. A sweet way to support White Ribbon Day. #Repost @obsessivecookiedisorder_ ・・・ Today is #whiteribbonday but it is everyday we should make the effort to stand up and speak up. 1 in 5 Australian women have experienced sexual violence, 1 in 3 have experienced physical violence and 1 in 4 have experienced emotional abuse from a partner. The top three reasons for not reporting are fear of further violence, embarrassment/shame and perception that the incident was unimportant, almost a burden for others. Women need to know they are not alone and that they are not at fault. . On average, one woman a week is murdered by her current or former partner 😔. . While statistics show women are more likely to suffer, it is important to remember though that men experience violence also. This violence has severe effects on physical and mental health and needs to be prevented. . Show your support and always respect others.
