I love it when retro games are conspicuously much shittier than what they're ostensibly emulating. Like, no, the N64's textures weren't that low-resolution. CRT televisions didn't look like that unless they had a busted timing circuit. The simulated rounding error on those vertices is about an order of magnitude too high if this is supposed to be PS1 style. It's physically impossible for a VHS tape to do that. It's fantastic.

Was the Protagonist Bomberman in Bomberman Land for the Wii meant to be nonbinary but nintendo decided to use masculine terms or was this game intentionally meant to be positive towards crossdressing?
Either way I'm all for whatever's going on with the style system

Only 13 percent of video games are readily playable and accessible. No other form of media is as endangered as video games. There is no legal path to preserve or archive video games. You can go to libraries and archives for books years out of print. You can rent a movie or download a pdf. There is no legal equivalent for video games. Games companies do not double as archival organisations and they never will. They have never been about preserving. They are about selling. Which is not inherently evil compared to anyone else but they along with the law are directly preventing archivers and preservationists from doing their job and allowing this entire medium to be experienced in the future.

I saved up and got a steam deck recently because I heard that it can emulate just about any game under the sun. I haven't installed emudeck on it JUST yet; I've mostly been getting a feel for it with my steam games As I got more familiar and read more guides it hit me. This is not a console. This is a COMPUTER with JOYSTICKS.
And I think it might be better than my gaming laptop!
To think that THIS is the first linux machine I would ever own.

Seeing the Super Mario RPG remake compelled me to play the original again, and luckily I found it in the long kist of SNES games on my miyoo mini's stock card.
I forgot it was made by Nintendo AND Square Enix.
Man, Square Enix really used to be a decent game developer company, didn't it? As far as the 90s and maybe early 2000s went, at least.
Anyway I love how weird and silly the characters got. Mario's characterization is still a little jarring with the way that he'd throw hands with anyone who would bruise his ego, even unintentionally (like the kid who told Geno "Mario needs all the help he can get"), but I honestly grew up more with Paper Mario and M+L as far as the Marip RPG games went.
Geno and Mallow really should have made cameos in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door by the way. Even if they'd just be visiting roqueport and had like two lines of dialogue. Do you even realize how much Geno would fit the rogueport aesthetic? Or better yet the first Paper Mario game since it also has the whole star theme. Wouldn't it have been neat to run into Geno periodically like he was investigating the same phenomenon? Sure people without the context of Super Mario RPG would just go: "oh this is just some guy who knows Mario and has his own lore apparently" but it's not like that's been an uncommon occurance in video games. Like: there's been plenty of characters made and have it established that they KNOW the protagonist to players without prior knowledge of the character if there were any prior knowledge at all.
Storywise it would not make sense I realize, but Paper Mario is a different universe you know? Anything could happen, and it's not like the Mario franchise cared THAT much about continuity. You wouldn't have to explain why Geno has his doll body back, just let him be seen.
But all that's in the past anyway, and now we have this remake to think about. I still think it's weird, seeing it all cutesy and colorful like most Mario games. I just hope the story still has its original charm and the visuals don't take away from that. I can see Nintendo changing things that were especially Square Enix-inspired to make it more on-brand but I'm hoping for the best.
Actually... Just let Geno stay cool. Even if he looks tiny and weirdly cutesy now.
That is all I ask, Nintendo.
