My drama teacher likes to tell me that anything’s possible in that room if you imagine it enough, and I like to imagine that those are the souls of every character ever played within those walls eternally watching the birth of new stories.

Like oh shit, this character who was sent to spy somewhere under a false identity suddenly realises they've started to genuinely become the person they claimed to be? Someone who's been telling the same lies about who they are for so long that they're actually forgetting that the story isn't true? Finding themselves genuinely doing the things they pretend to do in front of people, when they're alone and nobody's watching? Answering to a name that wasn't supposed to be theirs without thinking?

Ooohh-hoh-hoh, you lost track of yourself in pretending to be someone else? You were only supposed to impersonate somebody, a plausible background and a name you came up with on the spot, and now that the people you were supposed to infiltrate have become your true companions? You lost yourself in the game you played, and no you no longer know who you truly are, and where your true loyalties lie? And both sides would mark you a traitor if you came out with the truth. On a scale of one to ten, how bad did you fuck up.

Fuck that is a good trope. Never seen it done badly. Pour that shit on a table and I'll chop it into lines and snort it.

I think Bubby is easy to overlook because this man has had exactly one crisis this entire series and it was because he was betrayed and now put back into. His tube. He doesn't seem to actually have problems. But I find that interesting. He's just fed up. He is too upset to introspect on his existence as an AI. He wants to go home. Home doesn't exist.

I guess so. Quite the series this is when the ‘top secret escaped experiment’ character actually has the least crises.

Don’t you just love it when a HLVRAI discord takes Bubby’s whole backstory of being raised in the depths of Black Mesa and being constantly experimented on, completely ignores it on Bubby, then proceeds to give it to Benrey and use it to give him more trauma while reducing Bubby to ‘mean guy sets things on fire, possibly dating Coomer.’?/s

Again, not all HLVRAI fans, and it’s not like there’s anything wrong with headcanoning Benrey to have also been raised in BM, but sometimes fans make it a bit too obvious who their favourite is.

Yeahhhhh like. In general don't take other people's backstory just to give your favorite more trauma??? Bubby in his own right is really interesting, and the prototypes were honestly both scary and cool as hell???? Mmjdisjs

There is so much unexplored potential in a character who longs to go home while also not knowing where ‘home’ is for them. Bubby loves space because it’s the exact opposite of the tight tubes and claustrophobic corridors they’ve been confined to all their life, they see it as a place with endless possibility… maybe they really did hope to find their home there.

If you dare come at me about banning straws, I will throw you into the sun cannon. I’m disabled, I’m crippled, I need disposable plastic straws, and all those pricey ridiculous alternatives aren’t working as well. Plastic straws were invented for the disabled.

Way to shit all over a vital access need because you think straws are worse than corporate greed.

We all care about the turtles, the seals, the oceans, obviously. Notice how the easiest thing to yell about was something that would barely affect anything but appealed heavily to emotional discourse.

The disabled community is huge, and it can be joined by anyone. Most of those As Seen On TV products were invented for us. Society still mocks us and ignores us, and often outright harms us in multiple ways.

Communicate better. Listen better. But stop putting us out in the cold because you are inconvenienced by our simplest needs.
